ACC

I requested an account on the ACC account creation interface. --MisterWiki talk contribs 00:14, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for applying to access the account creation tool. I have approved your request. You may now access the tool here. Before you do so, please read the tool's guide to familiarize yourself with the process. You may also want to join #wikipedia-en-accounts on irc and the mailing list. Keep in mind that the ACC tool is a powerful program, and misuse may result in your access being suspended by a tool administrator. Don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions. Thank you for participating in the account creation process. Prodego talk 02:21, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

GA

Hi, I might not be very hiogh on your list of people you want to hear from given that i was part of the above ANI thread. However, I'm just informing you that I intend to reassess Breakout (Miley Cyrus song). In future, it would be greatly appreciated if you could take a little more time over your reviews. If an article has issues, you can place it "on hold" until they're fixed. GA reviewing requires a lot of patience and, often, a considerable amount of time. Take a look around WP:GA, WP:GAN and other places, where there are both brief and detailed guidelines on how to make a critique. I'm sorry our paths crossed under negative circumstances twice in one day, but if you need a hand, just yell. HJMitchell You rang? 03:18, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Given that you're very close to driving away a casual contributor I think it would be best if you stayed away from User:DiarmuidPigott and the articles he has been writing on (including Electric lamellophone and Guitaret) for now, and let someone else work with him on these articles. Again, your contributions and help are very welcome, but poor interactions and throwing the entire rulebook on new users directly can easily cause them to lose hope and give up, something we can't afford. henriktalk 13:22, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

On Fluorescent Grey

Hello. I've been gone most of this week so I was just able to see your review of Fluorescent Grey EP. I'm wondering why you didn't place the article on hold and give me a chance, especially for one this short. 1b and 3b are Neutral with no rationale. You've left no examples of where the article isn't MOS-compliant, how the article is not neutral or contains fancruft, or why the use of primary sources is a problem. I have little useful to work with for improving this article.

The biggest issue is probably the use of primary sources, which I can address. WP:PRIMARY has not been violated: the article is not entirely based on the use of the Deerhunter blog, no synthesized or interpretative claims have been made based on these sources, and the information is "verifiable by any educated person without specialist knowledge." I don't see how it's that different from an interview done by a music publication. This is not as "primary" a source as the music itself; making interpretive claims with these Deerhunter blog posts would not be that different from doing the same with a Deerhunter interview on another website.

I'm asking you to reconsider your quick-fail on the article. If you think it has a serious problem that can't be dealt with in a week, then please go into more detail on what that is. --gakon5 (talk / contribs) 00:02, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Modern Talking remix singles

Hello man,

Today you have removed my edition of Modern Talking singles list. Why? Those "remix-singles" like It's Christmas or Do You Wanna are bootlegs like hunderds of other, were not released by Hansa, Ariola, BMG or any other record company. You have another releases like these here: http://moderntalkingpoint.com/24981/25035.html or here: http://moderntalkingpoint.com/24981/310672.html or here: http://moderntalkingpoint.com/24981/533949.html. There are even some mixes made by me just for fun, someone downloaded them, and started to sell on the ebay. Please, simply make the single-list as close to the official as it's possible. Maybe this site can help you: http://dieterbohlen.newma (il).ru/DBsingles.htm. Feel free to use http://www.moderntalking.pl/mt/index.php?strona=single.htm as well.

Best regards —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.15.208.12 (talk) 15:11, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

OK, but the songs will not be removed, since all the group's songs have to be included on the navbar. :) --MW talk contribs 15:23, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Chilean people

—Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.46.53.131 (talk) 21:40, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Request reason:

I request unblock, because I didn't sockpuppet. I am User:Diegogrez, but I use this account since more than 2 years. I don't deserve this block, since I'm a good editor. You can see that all my editions have been constructive. I'm not a bad person. Maybe my behavior has been sometimes extremely childish, my apologies for that. Thanks.

Decline reason:

You've had some disruptive editing recently aside from block evasion, including aggressive behavior toward new editors (leaving final vandalism warnings for content disputes) and your bizarre welcoming templates. Those are only a couple of examples. -- Atama 02:48, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

A question. There have been "Diegogrez" and "MisterWiki's F". Have you used any other names? (Please think carefully.) -- Hoary (talk) 01:21, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

You know I'm not using my account for dark purposes or something else. I was blocked with the other account more than 2 years ago, the same as happened in es.wiki . As I said, I'm a good editor and I don't deserve this block. Thanks. --MW talk contribs 01:27, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

I created 'LoveModernTallking' to use in es.wiki . I don't know why do I used it here. Sorry. The other ones are because I was blocked with Diegogrez. --MW talk contribs 02:19, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

{{unblock|I have learned of the blocks. I'm blocked in es.wiki and I know how boring is the impossiblity to edit. It's just fun. My apologies for the idiotic things I did in the past, but I don't deserve the block. Please, unblock me. I'm humbly requesting this. I'm a good editor and I just want to create articles. I know I did idiotic things in the past, but now I know they were extremely childish. The only thing I now want is to do the things in the right way. I am sorry for every disruption I've caused. I'm being very sincere with you, and I just want to fulfill my errors. I just want this account to be unblocked. The other ones can remain blocked. Thank you.}}

Please don't keep repeating that you're a good editor. I get the impression that you are a well-intentioned editor who makes plenty of good edits, but my impression of you isn't improved by what I suspect is not intended as boasting (English doesn't seem to be your first language) but does look like it.

You were really young when you did the really silly stuff discussed above. When I was that age I behaved stupidly too -- luckily for the world, Wikipedia didn't exist back then. Let's not talk about what happened two years ago. Instead let's hear about 2009. Now, think hard: is there anything else (any other usernames, etc) that you should confess to? (If you suspect so but don't remember well, stop and look in edit histories, etc.)

Also, I'd like to hear your proposals for the next three weeks or so. You say that editing WP is fun, and I'd agree that it can be and I hope that it can be for you too; but (no matter how innocent the fun is) you're unlikely to be unblocked so that you can pursue enjoyment. I'd like to see (i) a statement that in the near future you intend to improve this or that article or area of articles, using this or that source material, and also (ii) a statement on how you'll behave differently in future conflicts.

Please don't rush your answers: they'll be better for careful thought, and you and Wikipedia will survive without each other for a day or more. Also, no more apologies: just informative statements about past facts and future intentions, please. -- Hoary (talk) 04:41, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

I just used User:LoveModernTallking cassually in August 2009, because I didn't log out in es.wiki. It's important to say that it is just 1 edit. --MW talk contribs 05:04, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Comment.

His previous to last remark:

Si hay algo que haya aprendido mientras estuve bloqueado, es que no hay que repetir las cosas malas. Yo ya aprendí que fue lo que hice y no quiero seguir repitiendolo. De otro modo, ya habría vandalizado o hecho otras cosas con esta cuenta. --MW

translates to

If there's anything I've learned while blocked, is that you don't have to repeat bad things. I've learned about what I did and I don't want to keep on repeating. Otherwise, I'd have already vandalized or done other stuff with this account.

However: he was blocked and he was subject of several warnigns on his original account before.

Also be noticed:

and the very very odd self-warning for sockpuppetry:

Also he's had the Bodoque57 account (which hardly can be justified to "prevent impersonation".

So in all, he claims that he "learned" and won't do the same things again (which we've all heard before). However his behaviour on other wikis show he's got no problem breaking the rules he's promised not to.

EXAMPLES:

  • http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:MisterWiki#Blocked shows a long trail of fake license claims on commons, after his earlier accounts were blocked for uploading copyvios.
  • On eswiki, he requested a 3rd unblock, on december 12, yet while the unblock request was open he vandalized as IP. After the unblock was declined, he created a new sockpuppet to edit 3 days after the last unblock was declined. ([1] dec 26) [2] (deleted contribs on dec 29).
  • Also yesterday he harassed other users [3] (ip is same he was using at IRC meanwhile).

Now, his Commons and eswiki actions are dealt on those wikis (which were grounds for his new blocks), but they're certainly indicative of the level of trust that can be put on "promises" not to break the rules anymore and the sincerity of the "I've learned not to do bad stuff". -- m:drini 18:19, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

All of the images I uploaded to commons using my account are mine, except the ones like Luis Rodríguez (producer) and Nora Balling.
I did not vandalized using User:SeñorWiki. But it was blocked anyway.
No, but you avoided block after 3rd decliend request and after you promised not to do it again. -- m:drini 18:54, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
I think you are only pursuing me. I also gave my apologies to User:Diegusjaimes in IRC. --MW talk contribs 18:44, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
So you accept you vandalize and insult users as IP yesterday. And it's me who's pursuing? -- m:drini 18:54, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
I just want to fulfill the errors I did in the past. And all of the pictures I uploaded to Commons are entirely useful. --MW talk contribs 18:45, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Useful and copyright violations. But once again, that's for you to argue in the other wiki. -- m:drini 18:54, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
They are not copyright violations. Are my photos. --MW talk contribs 18:59, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

I'm not discussing your commons block here anymore, it's not the place. FACT is that you used a sockpuppet to upload copyright violations which were the reason for your previous block there. you may be seeking release /now/ but that doesn't change the fact that when you upload, you did it with false claims. Your personal files weren't deleted, but the ones from websites were.

One again: your commons issues are not to be discussed here but there, I just pointed to them as example of how you don't keep your promises and you don't learn. -- m:drini 19:11, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

  • Autoblock cleared. All 7 (!) of them. –xenotalk 20:18, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi, you added this common name, but is this not also used for other species of Crataegus? Perhaps it should be on the Crataegus page instead. Also, is that common name used in English? Nadiatalent (talk) 13:47, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Kyu Sakamoto

Hi, I've undone your edit to Kyu Sakamoto, because frankly it made absolutely no sense. His song "Sukiyaki" was already mentioned in the section above the one you edited, so his second hit in the U.S. could not have been "Sukiyaki". Graham87 04:56, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

I realise now from reading your user page that English isn't your native language, so maybe my above message was a bit harsh. I just want you to be more careful when editing articles. I was only reading the Kyu Sakamoto article because of a recent related news story - Kyu Sakamoto was killed on Japan Airlines Flight 123. I wonder how long your error would have survived if I hadn't caught it? Also keep in mind that most Wikipedia readers don't know how to use the page history on Wikipedia, so they would've probably just removed the section; we therefore would have lost good information because of your edit. I might be harping on about this, but when I find nonsense in an article, it was usually added by unregistered users, not users with thousands of edits, so I'm somewhat concerned by your edit to Kyu Sakamoto. Graham87 05:27, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
I didn't added that, I've just corrected the section's title, since it was a derivative name of Sukiyaki. --MW talk contribs 19:29, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
No, that's not what you did. The article already had a section about Sukiyaki. The next section mentioned a completely different song called "China Nights", and you changed it so it mentioned "Sukiyaki" again, which was completely wrong. Read the revision of your edit very carefully. It contains two sections entitled "Sukiyaki", and says that the song peaked at #1 on the Billboard charts and #58 on the billboard charts, which is impossible. Graham87 03:42, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Why not just 12 hours. :P --MW talk contribs 22:57, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
Because Wikipedia is not a joke. If you are really asking for forgiveness, you'd take the "punishment". --ZooFari 23:03, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
Then the "indef" warning should be revoked. I already have editing restrictions and that's enough. --MW talk contribs 23:05, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
Far from it - any more crap from you and I'm gonna pull the trigger on that indefinite block, which I imagine will be a de facto ban from Wikipedia. I realize I'm probably poking the bear a bit here, but cut it out. Or, if your goal is to prove a point, go ahead and prove it and let's get this over with. Tan | 39 23:07, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
What I'm saying tho, Gwen, is that we had it under control. Decisions had already been made, the warning issued, the situation was relatively stable. Then you decided to jump into the situation and issue some sort of punishment for what already happened - and really, that's what it is, you aren't preventing anything if he's going to be indeffed at the next disruption anyway. I'm not going to revert this, but I want you to know I find this a very poor decision and quite honestly, you're stepping on toes here. Tan | 39 23:01, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
He was taunting y'all. Two unblock requests have been declined, please feel free to lengthen the block to indef if need be. Gwen Gale (talk) 23:24, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. Look, perhaps something good will come out of this for you. Perhaps you'll learn something from this. But Wikipedia is not a game. You are either here to help build an encyclopedia or you should not be here at all. I learned that the hard way. Just take the advice of the others and back down. I doubt that you'll be unblocked this time.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 23:35, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
The 144 articles I have created will tell you how do I want to help build an encyclopedia, Coldplay expert. Sometimes the admins doesn't think on the good intentions may I or another user have, that's unfair, because it makes them a specie of nazi. That can't continue. We are here to help, not to destroy this place. I know I disrupt sometimes, but tell me, didn't you disrupted sometimes to your mom or your teacher or whoever else?. Think on it. --MW talk contribs 00:19, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
You are insulting administrators here after you have done something stupid. Please retract. --ZooFari 00:23, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
Why would we wait for him to retract? He obviously just blew his very last super duper really this time chance.--Crossmr (talk) 00:24, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, there is no system where you can trade good contribs to excuse disruption. I'd agree with Gwen above, even after being blocked you're still playing games. I'd also support a much longer, lost in time block.--Crossmr (talk) 00:24, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
Funny how everyone never capitalizes the last part of my name. And MW, there is no excuse for your actions. No policy states that bad behavior can be traded away based off of good contribs. Just take a look at Ottava's page.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 01:56, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

MisterWiki, I have blocked you for the next ten years for calling admins Nazis while already on the very edge of your welcome. Please use the time wisely. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 02:16, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

Request reason:

Per above. I am sorry and it was really a stupid thing I said, but I explained it. There's no excuse for my moronic behaviour.

Decline reason:

I am declining your request for unblock because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    • understand what you have been blocked for,
    • will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    • will make useful contributions instead.

Please read our guide to appealing blocks for more information. -FASTILY (TALK) 04:35, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Sorry dude. I've made the same comparison and recieved a block from it. Likely you will be blocked for a while....Most likely not ten years but you never know...Hell In A Bucket (talk) 04:05, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
I know I said that a bit angry because of the 24 hours block, but that the admins are nazi? I don't meant that. I explained it. --MW talk contribs 04:13, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
You've done two stupid things in about 24 hours. How many stupid things do you plan to do, and then try to apologize your way out of? Based on the ANI discussion cited above, it is getting harder and harder to assume good faith on your part. Either you are here to screw around, or you lack the competence to recognize what appropriate behavior is. I am about to decline the above unblock request, at least for a little while. I really think that, based on your recent behavior, Wikipedia would benefit from your absense, at least for a little while longer. However, I would like to see what assurances you can make that these problems will not happen in the future. How about you propose some restrictions you would be willing to place on yourself. What will you do to stop these problems from continuing to crop up? --Jayron32 04:29, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
Well, no more comments about nobody. And staying away from the user talk pages, Jayron. Please trust me, this time I will really not get you down. Please. I pray to you. I swear to you. --MW talk contribs 04:34, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
This block is not necessary to prevent me to do that. I know what to do, I can think, I can argue. --MW talk contribs 04:37, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
So let me get this straight: If unblocked, you will voluntarily stay away from the User talk space, and you will also voluntarily refrain from commenting about other users at all. Is that correct? I am willing to begin an unblock discussion at ANI with these terms if that is what you are agreeing to. I would also like to add Civlity parole to your restrictions. If you were to violate these restrictions, we will return your indefinate block. This needs to be understood as a last chance. If you can agree to this, I will initiate the discussion on these restrictions. --Jayron32 04:58, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
(Crying) I agree, except for things that I would need, like to request things to users. --MW talk contribs 04:59, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
No. Communicating with other users is a fundamental part of the Wiki collaboration. Completely object this ridiculous restriction. --ZooFari 07:11, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
Agreed. It's rather like allowing somebody to participate in the 100 meters on the condition you can cut off their legs. MisterWiki, you said you didn't mean the admins were nazis. You called the admins Nazis! You're either trolling us or not competent and mature enough to contribute here. Ironholds (talk) 12:36, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

Request reason:

Under the condition to not disturb anymore. This block is not necessary for the redirect and the insult, since that's not what I meant. Anybody can get wrong sometimes. This is really annoying to request unblocks each 12 hours, but I, voluntarilly agreed the conditions that Jayron gave me. Anyways, if the block is shortened to 1 year, after the year I will retire.

Decline reason:

No way, you had your chance. However, there is a proposal on my talk page on how you might be given another chance, provided the rest of the community agrees. Your best hope is to see if anything comes of that. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 15:29, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

I don't see that Vandalism: Calling admins Nazis whilst already blocked, and very shortly after an indef was removed. should be a block of 10 years. I know it was a idiotic thing to call them nazis, but the block it's not necessary to prevent me to damage the community. Oh my god, what more can I do. I just want to be back to fulfill the things I left incomplete. Well, this is the last time I will request unblock. I will not going to disturb you anymore if you are going to decline the unblock request. I really don't have anything more to say. Blocked

Blocked means no editing and no pretty talk pages, your talk page is now here purely to facilitate any future unblock requests. You lost your editing privileges and any right to have a pretty user talk page when you were blocked, you only get all that back if/when you're unblocked. Nick (talk) 18:48, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Per WP:BLANKING, declined unblock requests should remain visible whilst the user is blocked - so restored with the rest of the thread. The other stuff I don't really have an opinion on way or the other. –xenotalk 18:51, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Please, my sincere apologies to the admin I offended and the rest of the community of Wikipedia because of that unexplained situation I did in mid-January. I promise that if I comeback here, I'll go back to build articles, specially to Pichilemu, an article that I hope sometime will be a FA, and to get Modern Talking to GA. It was really an idiotic thing to say that you, a jewish admin, were nazi. I know it is very offensive. My great-grandfather itself was killed in Germany because he was jewish, in the World War II. I really need to comeback, it is the best thing I've ever found on the net, and a space to show everybody my knowledge. Again, my apologies. --MW talk contribs 17:28, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup 2010 February newsletter

Round one is over, and round two has begun! Congratulations to the 64 contestants who have made it through, but well done and thank you to all contestants who took part in our first round. A special well done goes to Hungary Sasata (submissions), our round one winner (1010 points), and to Pennsylvania Hunter Kahn (submissions) and New Orleans TonyTheTiger (submissions), who were second and third respectively (640 points/605 points). Sasata was awarded the most points for both good articles (300 points) and featured articles (600 points), and TonyTheTiger was awarded the most for featured topics (225 points), while Hunter Kahn claimed the most for good topics (70). Connecticut Staxringold (submissions) claimed the most featured lists (240 points) and featured pictures (35 points), Geschichte (submissions) claimed the most for Did you know? entries (490 points), Jujutacular (submissions) claimed the most for featured sounds (70 points) and Republic of Ireland Candlewicke (submissions) claimed the most for In the news entries (40 points). No one claimed a featured portal or valued picture.

Credits awarded after the end of round one but before round two may be claimed in round two, but remember the rule that content must have been worked on in some significant way during 2010 by you for you to claim points. The groups for round two will be placed up shortly, and the submissions' pages will be blanked. This round will continue until 28 April, when the top two users from each group, as well as 16 wildcards, will progress to round three. Please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup; thank you to all doing this last round, and particularly to those helping at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, by email or on IRC. Good luck! I realize you are indef blocked, but I think you should know. I know you meant well, but this edit was not at all helpful. Replaceable fair use File:Luis Rodriguez.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Luis Rodriguez.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FASTILYsock(TALK) 00:47, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup 2010 March newsletter

We're half way through round two, and everything is running smoothly. Pennsylvania Hunter Kahn (submissions) leads overall with 650 points this round, and heads pool B. New Orleans TonyTheTiger (submissions) currently leads pool C, dubbed the "Group of Death", which has a only a single contestant yet to score this round (the fewest of any group), as well five contestants over 100 points (the most). With a month still to go, as well as 16 wildcard places, everything is still to play for. Anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.

Although unrelated to the WikiCup, April sees a Good Article Nominations backlog elimination drive, formulated as a friendly competition with small awards, as the Cup is. Several WikiCup contestants and judges have already signed up, but regular reviewers and those who hope to do more reviewing are more than welcome to join at the drive page. User renaming

I'm requesting user rename from MisterWiki to Diego Grez, because I'm requesting it through all the Wikimedia wikis. Thanks in advance. --MW talk contribs 02:30, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

There is a discussion regarding your block and your renaming request here. Since you can't reply there, please read the information there and then post your comments here. I will then paste them over to that discussion for you. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 19:51, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
Dear Wikipedians, my block was my very own fault. I'll tell you my history from my point of view. I started editing here, I don't remember why, adding false information about me on Diego Grez. I admit I liked Hannah Montana at the time, but I don't know why that spamming thing. I was 11 and after some time, I decided to back for good, doing good things and trying to fulfill my past. I left the wiki for a year and some, until I've got my own Internet connection on my home. I thought that my case was forgotten and even I tried to appeal my unblock on es.wiki. (Regarding the comment of someone at ANI, I was blocked previously on these wikis and I wanted to request here and so on). I've emailed an steward that gave me an opportunity (an unblock request at the village pump over there). It lasted in the third week of December because no admin unblocked me. The things went fine until my rollback was removed because of misuse, something I admit. I tried to expand the most I would Pichilemu, because I wanted it to get (at least to) GA, as it is one of my most-known topics before the History of Chile and Modern Talking. Piss-on-elmo and calling the admins nazis was the thing that caused this block, and I thought it was going to be shorter, and it was my fault. Since that, I tried to do the things better, on Wikinews (where I am accredited reporter) and on Simple Wiki, in addition to the Spanish Wikinews, the Latin Wikipedia, English Wiktionary and the Chamoru Wikipedia, a wiki that is almost forgotten. Additionally, I saw that my other account, Bodoque57, was not blocked on Commons, and I requested block on IRC. On Wikinews, my contributions about the recent Chile earthquake have been very appreciated and the community has been very, hmm, good. As it is not Wikinews, Wikinoticias, Wiktionary or Vicipaedia, I come here to ask you, Wikipedians, to unblock me, I want to show you that I have matured through all this time and I don't want to get in troubles anymore. The earthquake thing has helped me to mature more than I thought and you'll forget this very, very soon. I won't let you down, I promise as a good boy. --MW talk contribs 20:59, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
PD. I don't have bad feelings against those people that blocked me or helped to do this, I know it was for good for Wikipedia and for myself too. --MW talk contribs 21:00, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
Forgot that on IRC, I've got a bot running as Pitsilemu, for Wikinews, if that can be considered of help. --MW talk contribs 21:03, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

If you let me come back, I will be editing Pichilemu and related articles to make 'em (at least Pichilemu) good articles. You won't see me trolling again. ;-) --MW talk contribs 21:09, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Diego, I posted the above four statements into the discussion on ANI but i had to fix some of the linking as Simple, Latin, and Chamoru didn't want to display properly when i previewed the copy & paste.  Doing... Copying over for you. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:07, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

I accept to be supervised and mentored by HJ Mitchell and any other user that could want to. Previously have ocurred cases like this, example Betacommand, so why not give me this chance to be supervised by someone else? --MW talk contribs 15:34, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

I'm hopeful we might be able to achieve something here, assuming you understand what's being suggested and agree unreservedly to the conditions. The conditions being suggested at the minute are:
  • You agree to mentoring from me for as long as it's thought necessary
  • You commit to editing from one account only and (assuming the CUs agree) to regular checkusers
  • You agree not to remove anything from your talk page
  • You agree only to edit in your own or in my userspace where you can draft things and where I and others can keep an eye on you
  • You seek my approval for any edit outside of your own or my userspace
  • You agree to be subject to an enforceable 1 revert per article per day (not including blatant vandalism)
  • You agree that any violation of the above will result in an immediate, indefinite block and you accept that I can't help you if that happens

If you're agreeable to that, I will do everything I possibly can to help you and hopefully you'll be unblocked. Once you've spent a month or two proving yourself, we might be able to look at easing them. I know these seem quite harsh, but I can't see any other way the community will let you back. What do you think? If you agree, I'll copy all this over to ANI. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:37, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

OK. I agree. But for "You agree only to edit in your own or in my userspace where you can draft things and where I and others can keep an eye on you" will I be able to edit regularly my most favourite article without supervision. Will you get into IRC too? --MW talk contribs 17:08, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
I should think we can make that work. I can easily watchlist it and keep an eye on things as long as you can do it within the other conditions and don't get yourself into problems with any other editors there or do anything controversial. Can you live with that? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:30, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
I think I can :P --MW talk contribs 17:45, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Right, have a look at this, it's a refined version of what I put above. If you can live with it, then just state your agreement here and I'll copy it to ANI and hopefully it'll get consensus! Good luck! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:30, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Yeah I accept them! :-D --MW talk contribs 18:43, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
OK. Now we just have to pray this works! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:01, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Conditionally unblocked

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

You are conditionally unblocked based on the following conditions.

  1. You are unblocked only under the mentorship of HJ Mitchell (talk · contribs); if HJ Mitchell (hereafter "mentor") withdraws his volunteer services you may be reblocked.
  2. You are restricted to a single account only, MisterWiki (talk · contribs) (or its renamed counterpart). Any abuse of alternate accounts will result in an immediate indefinite block for all accounts involved including your main account.
  3. You are forbidden from removing comments from your talk page excluding clear and obvious vandalism.
In cases where there might be a disagreement over what constitutes vandalism, you shall leave the comment and request it be reviewed by your mentor. Routine archiving is permitted, with a reasonable delay of at least a few days prior to archiving material.
  4. Until otherwise approved by an administrator or community consensus, you are restricted to edit only in your user space and subspace or your mentor's userspace and subspace (including talk pages) except when approved by your mentor. You may also contact me on my talk page if necessary.
It is expected that your edits in these spaces should primarily be in the interest of improving the encyclopedia (i.e. you shall not spend an excessive amount of time prettifying your userpage or engaging in other myspace-like activities).
  5. Any edit outside your or your mentors' userspace must be explicitly approved by your mentor. This includes reversion of obvious vandalism.
  6. You shall not revert an edit more than once-per day (1RR).
  7. You are to abide by all other policies and guidelines.
  8. Any violation of the above restrictions may result in an immediate and indefinite reblock, without discussion or warning, from any administrator.
  9. These restrictions are to be displayed conspicuously on your userpage and at Wikipedia:Editing restrictions until such time as they are lifted.
  10. These restrictions are in place at least until May 31, 2010, at which point you may discuss with your mentor whether it is an appropriate time to request relaxing of the restrictions.

Unblocking administrator: Please check for active autoblocks on this user after accepting the unblock request.

@ Tan: Just wanted to drop that note in a thanksgiving way. --Diego Grez let's talk 19:16, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Please abide by the very letter of these restrictions or you will find yourself reblocked. –xenotalk 19:29, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes. I'm hoping you're back to edit helpfully and within policy. I see you've already broken your restrictions at least twice. The restrictions are very tight, but they won't last very long if you abide by them carefully. Please don't do that again, or you will be blocked from editing and if that happens, it's likely you won't be allowed back for a very long time. Gwen Gale (talk) 19:31, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
Indeed - several people have stuck their neck out for you and I don't think it'll be appreciated if you squander the good faith extended here. –xenotalk 19:32, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
OK. I know you guys have done this assuming good faith on me, and as I said on ANI, I won't let you down. --Diego Grez let's talk 19:36, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
Please don't post to ANI again, so long as the restrictions are on. There are plenty of eyes here on your talk page, you'll be heard here. Thanks. Gwen Gale (talk) 19:39, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
OK. Sounds good. --Diego Grez let's talk 19:42, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
  • I've replied to you on my talk page, but, just to clarify, those restrictions mean you cannot edit any page(especially ANI) unless I say so. If you need your voice heard at ANI, your best bet is to let me post there for you. If you keep within the restrictions- and I mean not so much as a hair over the line- then we might be able to relax them at the end of May. The best thing you can do is work on articles in your userspace (or mine if you want) fir a little while- I expect some people will be less than pleased that you were unblocked so you need to keep your head down! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:49, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
  • Diego- I've had a poke around your article drafts. The one on the balcony would probably be best merged to a bigger article (or it'll probably end up at AfD) and you'll need better sources before I'd be happy with that being moved to mainspace, but obviously, that's the point of drafting it! I'm around if you need me on-wiki, or you can email me or poke me on my talk page if you want me on IRC. Keep up the good work, though. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:12, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Something for you

I would like to give this to you as I am wishing you good luck through the next few months with HJ. Maybe an admin could also restore your guestbook so I could sign it. ~NERDYSCIENCEDUDE (✉ messagechanges) 23:02, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Thank you very much. :-D --Diego Grez let's talk 23:07, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
I'm going to bed now unless there's anything you need from me. I'm learning a lot about Chile from reading your article drafts! I'll be back on probably mid-afternoon tomorrow UTC. Enjoy your cookie ;)! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:13, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Hello

Dear MW. Let me be one of the first people to say congrats on getting yet another last chance. (I don't mean this in a bad way at all) I've talked with HJ several times about you and while your restrictions are still in place, feel free to ask me to move anything that you make into the mainspace (Of anything else that you need help on, I'll be more than happy to assist you). (If it is allowed, you can just come ans ask me on my talk page. If you are not allowed to, I'll just watch your page) I realize that HJ can be very buisy at times so if he's not around and you need any assistance, I'll try to be there. So long as you agree of course. Anway, congrats again and good luck my firend. I'm counting on you :)--White Shadows you're breaking up 01:24, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. I'm very grateful. --Diego Grez let's talk 02:01, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

A thought

Since HJ has gone to bed now, I might be able to make requests on your behalf. Would you like your user subpages, such as your guestbook and awards page, restored? ~NERDYSCIENCEDUDE (✉ messagechanges) 02:53, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Okay. I'll be back in 10 hours because of school. See you. --Diego Grez let's talk 10:39, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
  • DG, I would strongly encourage you to not to take advantage of offers like this. I don't understand, for example, encouragement to restore a guestbook; that demonstrates a complete 100% lack of clue about what is going on here. These kinds of offers, while no doubt made in good faith, are likely to mistakenly lead you to do something outside your restrictions, and get you blocked; quite possibly by me. In the strongest terms I can, I encourage you to only work with HJ Mitchell and Xeno for now, at least until they suggest otherwise. The slim consensus at ANI was achieved because HJ Mitchell was marketed as your mentor. I would have lobbied as strongly as I could against your unblock if I thought that less mature people were going to be "vice-mentors" as well. --Floquenbeam (talk) 12:31, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
  • DG, what Floquenbeam said, I was thinking the same thing. Please only work with HJ (your mentor) and xeno (the unblocking admin). You have no mentors other than HJ, whose willingness to spend his volunteer time with you is the only reason you were unblocked. Gwen Gale (talk) 12:43, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
    • You all don't have to go bashing on NSD. I realize that guestbooks are not productive and I am against DG haveing one to waste his time on. I made a similar (yet more productive) offer above. I don't want to be a mentor but rather as someone who is willing to lend him a hand. Stop looking down on attempts by newbies like NSD to help him out. If you have an issue tell NSD directly. This kind of stuff will likely get DG blocked again. Now NSD, I know that you were just trying to help but you can see that HJ is more than ready to take this on. It's best if we just watch and learn.....--White Shadows you're breaking up 20:53, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
  • This is the wrong forum but I agree NSD is being treated unfairly. Be aware that the box at the top of this page contains my name, and my name only. However, I really appreciate the efforts you guys have gone to to make DG feel welcome and I appreciate all your offers of help. I'm staking my reputation on this, so the support that I've been offered by WS and NSD means a lot and I hope Diego is equally grateful. I need the two of you (and anybody else who is willing to help make this work) to continue to be supportive but not to step into the areas that need to be my responsibility.
  • Diego, when you're next online, I'd like to give you a hand developing some of your articles, particularly in copyediting and reliable sources. Also, Xeno has very kindly offered to history merge the work you do on Pichilemu in your userspace into the article once you're finished. Perhaps WS and NSD would be willing to assist in that? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:28, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
    • I'm no "vice-mentor". I'm only here to assist anyone and everyone who wants it. I'll be supportive but I do know that you and DG need to work together alone to get things done. I'm willing to assist you all on what you pointed out HJ. Just let me know what you need me to do. Thanks for sticking up for NSD as well, he's fairly new and I just thought thst the comments made by GG and Floquenbeam were a bit on the bitey side. Let's remember that he was trying to help not hinder guys. Now I'll leave you two to each other and step in if you ever call. Good luck to both of you :)--White Shadows you're breaking up 22:25, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

I feel very happy of the effort you did to unblock me, so if the restore of my old pages is not going to be helpful, just don't care about it; I'll care about it after the end of my restrictions, maybe; thanks for that Pichilemu thing HJ, that is awesome :-D --Diego Grez let's talk 22:28, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

You should thank Xeno for offering to history merge it- I understand that's quite complicated! It would be great if you could get it to GA standard and you've got plenty of time to work on it on your subpage. As for your other subpages, if there's one you need then I can request (but not guarantee) it be undeleted, but I don't think you'll need any of them while your restrictions are in place. Which of your draft articles would you like to work on first? I'll help you build it up and then, when it's ready, I'll move it into mainspace for you. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:48, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, thanks Xeno for that. I'm working on the article there. :-D --Diego Grez let's talk 22:34, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
If you want something to look at, have a look at Kingston upon Hull which is GA. It might be useful to see what kind of information you need to include. I'll be around for the next 2/3 hours so if you want me, just yell. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:47, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

File copyright problem with File:Sound_of_the_Police_audio_sample.ogg

Fixed! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:37, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading File:Sound_of_the_Police_audio_sample.ogg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Chris G Bot (talk) 00:18, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Edit to Pichilemu

Hi Diego! I just wanted to let you know that I added a Wikinews template to Pichilemu before realizing that you're working on an improved version in your sandbox. Feel free to have it reverted if you wish.

I see that you're not in a position to facilitate cross-wiki coordination of links, articles, and such. Nor are your mentors or observing administrators in a position to continuously check for urgently needed edits, especially during the immediate aftermath of the natural disasters you seem to cover a lot. Therefore, I'd be willing to be your "liaison" here so that we can quickly disseminate your OR and other works. Let me know. Benny the mascot (talk) 20:56, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup 2010 April newsletter

Round two is over, and we are down to our final 32. For anyone interested in the final standings (though not arranged by group) this page has been compiled. Congratulations to Pennsylvania Hunter Kahn (submissions), our clear overall round winner, and to Colombia ThinkBlue (submissions) and Norway Arsenikk (submissions), who were solidly second and third respectively. There were a good number of high scorers this round- competition was certainly tough! Round three begins tomorrow, but anything promoted after the end of round two is eligible for points. 16 contestants (eight pool leaders and eight wildcards) will progress to round four in two months- things are really starting to get competitive.

Judge iMatthew has retired from Wikipedia, and we wish him the best. The competition has been ticking over well with minimal need for judge intervention, so thank you to everyone making that possible. A special thank you goes to participants Bavaria Stone (submissions) and White Shadows (submissions) for their help in preparing for round three. Good luck everyone! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. AfD nomination of IEs4Linux

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is IEs4Linux. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/IEs4Linux. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:10, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

  • Diego, if you have any comments on the AfD, leave them here I'll be happy to copy them over for you (or perhaps a talk page stalker will do it if I'm not around!). HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 01:19, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
Did someone say TPS?--White Shadows you're breaking up 01:21, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
  • Keep. OK. I don't think it should be merged to Internet Explorer or Wine, as NSD said. IEs4Linux is apparently enough notable and has been featured by some websites about Linux and Ubuntu, I don't think it should be deleted. [6] [7] Well, Google points out more than 47,900 results, so it should be enough notable :-p [8] --Diego Grez let's talk 03:05, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Apache Tomcat Firefox.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Apache Tomcat Firefox.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:38, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Any of my talk page stalkers, could you replace the picture's licence with {{free screenshot}} and {{MoveToCommons}} and remove the deletion thing? AFAIK, UI is not copyrighteable and Tomcat and Firefox are free software. --Diego Grez let's talk 20:44, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Not really. By the way, @ NSD The shakemap was updated later :-P --Diego Grez let's talk 20:08, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
If it's HJ Mitchell, it should be ok - but I wasn't impressed with the delete vote being copied over to that AFD by NSD. That's probably colouring outside the lines: if I were HJ Mitchell, I would've told you that it's too soon to be participating in AFDs - even by proxy (excluding articles you created or substantially edited).
NSD, I understand you're trying to be helpful but please leave these things to Diego's assigned mentor. –xenotalk 20:11, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
True, but HJ actually appreciates my help with some of these things. ~NerdyScienceDude (✉ messagechanges) 20:51, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
I don't think that's what Xeno meant- something totally uncontroversial, like correcting a mistagged image to save it from deletion or comments in an AfD for an article in which Diego has an involvement are one thing and I greatly appreciate you helping with that when I'm not available- I'm not on 24 hours a day and Diego and I are in diffferent time zones. However, edits to the mainspace and other things in which Diego isn't directly involved are more controversial and should only be done by me otherwise it would seem to be a violation of the spirit, if not the letter, of the restrictions. I'm in agreement with Xeno that it's too soon for you (Diego) to be participating in AfDs other than those in which you have an involvement and you shouldn't be asking for controversial edits to the mainspace- ie anything more than categories, typos etc. Keep working on your drafts and try to keep your head down- someone in your position should be trying to attract as little attention to themselves as possible. My talk page and email are open to both of you (and Xeno, of course) if you need me. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:28, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

OK. Though I never wanted to controversy anything :p I just wanted to point out that the picture is already on Commons (well, a superseded version) Cheers. --Diego Grez let's talk 21:44, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

I didn't proposed it. I just tagged the articles for deletion on the other wikipedias (catalan, german and french). He did an AfD on the French Wikipedia, where I also commented. --Diego Grez let's talk 21:44, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
So, to be clear, you did not request User:Dereckson create this AFD on the English Wikipedia? Either on or off wiki? --Floquenbeam (talk) 21:45, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
We had a talk on IRC, and I requested the French one, because I needed guidance there. This one was PROD-ed, and he continued with an AfD. --Diego Grez let's talk 21:50, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Diego- on or off wiki, did you request anybody to send this article to AfD on the English Wikipedia? Yes or no? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:54, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
On the English Wikipedia, no. --Diego Grez let's talk 21:55, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Thank you. All we needed to know. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:57, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Phew indeed. Just so everyone is clear, I would have blocked indefinitely if he had, in fact, requested someone create this here. There are no more one-more-final-chances available. --Floquenbeam (talk) 22:04, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict)As would I. And I second what Gwen says below- make sure anyone you talk to on IRC is sure that you aren't asking them to edit on your behalf. If you have requests for edits, post them on-wiki. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:07, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Lolno. I haven't requested edits to any other person that is not HJ :-) --Diego Grez let's talk 22:05, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Sure. But as I said below and above, I haven't requested edits on IRC! :s --Diego Grez let's talk 22:09, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I know. My comment was meant for future reference :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:11, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Diego, given what has happened, so long as your edit restrictions here last, if you use IRC, you should make it very clear your comments there are not requests for edits here. Gwen Gale (talk) 22:03, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

OK. Though I haven't requested any edit from IRC since I have been edit-restricted there. I just requested guidance on the French Wikipedia... --Diego Grez let's talk 22:05, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Given I haven't seen the IRC logs and don't want/need to, I understand what you've said about this and am willing to take your word for it, all I'm saying is, when you're on IRC, please make it very clear you're not talking about anything you'd like to see happen on en.WP (while the restrictions last), since even seeming to do so will stir up too many worries. This said, while I think folks can and should be able to use IRC as they please and I do understand that some editors may find IRC handy for talking about how to handle something on more than one wiki at a time, either way, off-wiki editorial discussions about content on en.WP have zero sway as to consensus, hence I'd say it's almost always more helpful to keep meaningful editorial discussions on each wiki, with links to discussions on other wiki talk pages if need be. Gwen Gale (talk) 12:16, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
Gwen Gale, I hope this diff explains this. --Diego Grez let's talk 23:27, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Chile earthquake

Honestly...I have absolutely no idea why your area keeps getting hit by earthquakes! :) I just passed the article you submitted today, so is there anything you would like me to do here on WP to expand coverage? Benny the mascot (talk) 01:16, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Okay. Maybe you can add the {{wikinews}} template and some info from my article. Thanks in advance Benny. --Diego Grez let's talk 02:09, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
You just added a link to May 2010 Biobío earthquake on the Wikinews article. Do you think that the event is notable enough for WP standards? Quite frankly, I don't see any information that suggests notability (newsworthiness, yes). But then again, you do live there, so you probably know more than the rest of us about the quake. Benny the mascot (talk) 02:14, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
I think so. The earthquake is not notable enough for an article. I think also that May 2010 Pichilemu earthquake should be merged into 2010 Pichilemu earthquake, moved to March 2010 Pichilemu earthquake without further discussion. --Diego Grez let's talk 02:19, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
Looks like Irunongames beat me in adding the WN template. Anyway, I personally don't like the way in which Wikipedia has tried to report the news; it takes away the punch from WN! I think I'll file an AFD within the next day or so, since you seem to agree with me. Are you allowed to participate in AFD's, or was that restricted in the previous discussion? I don't want to meddle with your editing restrictions, but I do think you should be able to carry out your news-related cross-wiki coordination here on WP. FWIW... Benny the mascot (talk) 02:28, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
See the thread above. :P I'm not restricted to participate on AFD's but... I have been suggested to not involve in controversial topics, although, I would like to point out that Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/May 2010 Pichilemu earthquake should be merged into March 2010 Pichilemu earthquake, and this one should be moved back to 2010 Pichilemu earthquake, because it is most-likely an aftershock, unless the USGS says it's not. --Diego Grez let's talk 02:31, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
Ok...I've decided that I'm not in a position to act as your proxy in the Pichilemu earthquake articles; I'll let HJ Mitchell sort this out. However, I still personally believe (and agree with you) that the Biobío earthquake article is not notable, and I will file an AFD eventually. Benny the mascot (talk) 02:39, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
OK. --Diego Grez let's talk 02:42, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

AFD filed Benny the mascot (talk) 04:38, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Your mentor has been notified of this thread. Benny the mascot (talk) 04:41, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
I've seen the thread, I have this page on my watchlist, but I'm not entirely sure what you guys need from me. Diego, in light of the thread above this one, I'm going to say that you shouldn't be participating in AfDs unless you actually have an involvement with the article in question. I'd really like to get to the end of the month without you attracting any more controversy and I think you need to keep a much lower profile than you are at the minute- there are a lot of people who'd be only too happy to see you indefinitely blocked again and you have to do everything you can to avoid giving them a reason. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:04, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
I agree. --Diego Grez let's talk 18:01, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
Can you find some more references for the high school article before I move it into mainspace? I know schools are inherently notable, but something to verify the information in there would be nice. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:40, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
Since Diego is somewhat involved with the BioBio earthquake article, I think he can participate in the AFD I filed. Benny the mascot (talk) 21:44, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Hello. I wanted to let you know that I'm working on this audio file. There's a few things that I'm going to do to make it come in line with our fair use policies. The things that relate to the physical file I can do, but there is something that you can do also that might help it stick around here on Wikipedia.

The main thing is that the article that uses it, She Wants to Dance with Me, is only a few sentences long, and doesn't specifically discuss the content of that song. That's one of the fair use policy requirements; that the article's actually have sourced commentary about the song itself. Would you mind helping out with that part of it? Thanks. Dawnseeker2000 02:24, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

Sure, I'll work on it. :) --Diego Grez let's talk 14:20, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup 2010 May newsletter

We are half way through round 3, with a little under a month to go. The current overall leader is Hungary Sasata (submissions), who has 570 points. He leads pool C. Pools A, B and D are led by Pennsylvania Hunter Kahn (submissions), Colorado Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) and White Shadows (submissions) respectively.

Two of last year's final 8, Sweden Theleftorium (submissions) and Iceland Scorpion0422 (submissions), have dropped out of the competition, saying they would rather their place went to someone who will have more time on their hands than them next round. On a related note, a special thank you goes to White Shadows (submissions) for his help behind the scenes once again. There is currently a problem with the poster, perhaps caused by the new skin- take a look at this discussion and see if you can help. The competition has continued to tick over well with minimal need for judge intervention, so thank you to everyone making that possible. Good luck to all! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. AN discussion

I have proposed the relaxing of your restrictions: Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard#Lifting of restrictions on Diego Grez (formerly MisterWiki). If there are any questions for you in that thread, you may answer them. –xenotalk 15:01, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks a lot! Finally my PC is back and I'll reply any question they could have. --Diego Grez let's talk 17:12, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Diego, did you ever get the email I sent you? If not, I have a secondary email address- hjmitchell [at] ymail [dot] com- but you'll have to let me know when you send me an email, because I don;t check that one very often. Oh, and, blank that when you've read it! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:28, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
You're going to get some opposition, Diego- it's inevitable. You pissed quite a few people off. It's probably best that you let the discussion take its course and keep quiet. Meanwhile, there's been a suggestion for some kind of civility restriction and a 1RR which aren't bad ideas. Would you agree to them? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:20, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Agree the civility one, but not the 1RR one. I am really tired of the restrictions I got for being so stupid; this includes my opposition to this. It is like to be convicted! And OK, I'm not going to comment anymore on the thread. --Diego Grez let's talk 23:22, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

There were enough supports :P ... anyway. --Diego Grez let's talk 23:28, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Beggars cant be choosers, frankly. If the discussion continues the way it's going, it looks like your restrictions will be at least loosened, but I think it would be unwise to go straight from such tight restrictions to none at all. A 1RR and civility restriction should keep you out of trouble and, vandalism aside, you shouldn't need to make more than one revert per article per day anyway. I rarely do so. Um, k --Diego Grez let's talk 23:41, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Recaredo Santos Tornero

Hi. As requested, I had a quick look at Recaredo Santos Tornero.

  • I did a copyedit for English/grammar; here.
  • I changed bought the enterprise to their father to bought the enterprise from their father - I think that's what you meant?
  • It's not 'standard' to have the place names in with the date of birth/death in the brackets; it's a bit confusing. At first, I didn't know why it said "Valparaíso" and "Santiago" there. I'd remove them, and just use them within the actual body-text, ie Recaredo Santos Tornero (October 14, 1842 – July 26, 1902) was a Chilean editor then later Tornero was born in Valparaíso, Chile, ... .
  • You wrote, In 1866, Recaredo ... - usually, we use surname, ie In 1866, Tornero ...; but maybe it is different for Chilean people, I'm not sure.
  • on the eve of the Revolution - a) I don't think that "Revolution" needs a capital R, b) which revolution? Can you wikilink it?
  • He died... does not have a reference.
  • I don't think you need the section heading == Biography == at all; the whole thing is a bio, and having just one one section heading seems unnecessary.
  • You should not have an image left-aligned at the top of a section, and you shouldn't have text squashed up between images/infoboxes. If you remove the "Biography" section heading and remove 'left', then the pic will automatically appear below the infobox, on the right-hand side. You might not think it looks so good there, but at least it will work on all browsers. Also, you should remove the 'forced image size' of 150px; users can set their own preference for thumbnail sizes in their preferences, so you should only force the size when absolutely necessary.

Cheers,  Chzz  ►  04:25, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi Diego Grez, thanks for noticing all the work I've put in. Thought to myself that an artist of Rick's calibre deserved a better wiki-page, so I just started editing and it kind of snowballed into the B-class article we have now. So yeah, I would be very happy to form an alliance with you to improve the page, especially if you have any good sources on the man. Many thanks APHST (talk) 12:00, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Good work. I'll try to improve the article as soon as I get Pichilemu onto the GA status. :P Cheers, Diego Grez ¡aprende a llorar! 21:35, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello :)

Couple of things:

  1. I've done a quick copyedit and commented at Wikipedia:Peer_review/Pichilemu/archive3, it looks all right. I think another copyeditor with more experience is going to go through it, so that's good as well :)
  2. You now have reviewer again at flaggedrevs.

Vandalism?

I just came across this edit from last December by you? Your edit summary indicates you knew what you were doing? Was this pure vandalism inserted to disrupt the project and confuse fellow editors? __meco (talk) 20:47, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

No, it is not vandalism. And if you care to read Pichilemu, you will see that the article clearly states that the city is a province capital. Diego Grez ¡aprende a llorar! 22:37, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Ah ha, there it is, thank you for the explanation, regards. Off2riorob (talk) 16:24, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Putting an AfC on hold without explaining the issue is about the most counter-productive thing I can imagine. So far as I can see, there are no major issues with the article, and the author is as confused as I am. If you genuinely feel that this should be put on hold, please at least provide a reason, so that the article can be worked on by the person who originally submitted it or others. J Milburn (talk) 18:52, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

I see now that you didn't even leave the author a note- again, really not on. AfC is important work- not only are you going to be judge, jury and executioner for a potential article, but there's a strong chance that you give the first impressions of Wikipedia to a potential new contributor. This kind of slapdash approach is completely inappropriate. J Milburn (talk) 19:19, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
I have taken a look at some more of your AfC work. this does not have serious POV issues, and should not have been declined- instead, putting on hold and allowing the user to make some changes would have been appropriate. You were correct to reject this, but pointing the author to A7 (which does not include books) was a little... odd. Also, the fact you didn't even welcome the new users, and just slapped them with "YOUR ARTICLE HAS BEEN REJECTED" notices, is a little troubling. Again, you are the face of Wikipedia for newcomers. Try to give them a good impression... J Milburn (talk) 19:27, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Sorry J Milburn, please accept my apologies. I think I should not do anymore AfC work. Diego Grez what's up? 19:31, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

That might be wise. Mr. R00t Talk 19:44, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
Em, or just learn how to do it right. That might be even better. Diego Grez what's up? 19:50, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
Well AfC needs all the help it can get and it's a good chance for you to become a genuine asset to the project, so I think you should work on improving your efforts there. I'll help you out. You might like to install the AfC helper script (grab it from my monobook.js) and Friendly so that you can welcome newbies and deal with AfC more efficiently- the helper script will leave a message for the author and it contains all the parameters for the templates. After reading the last half dozen versions, I've sent it to AfD. It's never had any references, and I'm not convinced that there is a generic term 'spiky hairdo' that's in general use - even though I remember spiky hairdos from the first time round in the UK punk era. WikiCup 2010 July newsletter

We are half-way through our penultimate round, and nothing is yet certain. Pool A, currently led by Hungary Sasata (submissions) has ended up the more competitive, with three contestants (Hungary Sasata (submissions), Colorado Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) and New Orleans TonyTheTiger (submissions)) scoring over 500 points already. Pool B is led by New South Wales Casliber (submissions), who has also scored well over 500. The top two from each pool, as well as the next four highest scorers regardless of pool, will make it through to our final eight. As ever, anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.

Planning has begun for the 2011 WikiCup, with open discussions concerning scoring and flags for next year's competition. Contributions to those discussions would be appreciated, especially concerning the flags, as next year's signups cannot begin until the flag issue has been resolved. Signups will hopefully open at some point in this round, with discussion about possible changing in the scoring/process opening some time afterwards.

Earlier this round, we said goodbye to Pennsylvania Hunter Kahn (submissions), who has bowed out to spend more time on the book he is authoring with his wife. We wish him all the best. In other news, the start of this round also saw some WikiCup awards sent out by Finland Suomi Finland 2009 (submissions). We appreciate his enthusiasm, and contestants are of course welcome to award each other prizes as they see fit, but rest assured that we will be sending out "official" awards at the end of the competition. If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Hi, I've approved you to use WikiAlerter for now. Sorry for taking so long, but to be perfectly honest, I was a bit hesitant about saying yes, since I have a few memories of you having some problems with semi-automated/automated programs. However, since times have changed, and I understand (from what I've seen) that you have too. I'm happy for you to give it a go. Let me know if you have any problems. Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Diego Grez! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot notifying you on behalf of the the unreferenced biographies team that 1 of the articles that you created is currently tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 941 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Diego, I've granted you rollback and reviewer. For crying out loud be careful with it. I know you want to use Huggle so stick to the basic rule: if you're not 100% certain that any other editor would agree the edit is vandalism, use the undo button. Do not use Huggle or rollback unless the edit is unquestionably vandalism and, no matter how many times you've read them before, read WP:VAND and WP:RBK. Out of interest, what was wrong with the third? I don't deal with A7 and have no intention of ever doing so, or of handling most speedies except a few of the "G" criteria. The first two are obvious (Diego: rivers and films are ineligible for A7) but I'm intrigued by the third. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:23, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
It was the song itself, i.e. the creative work. There's a separate CSD for those, and this does not match the criteria there, either. Kuru (talk) 22:34, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

  • Pool B's winner was New South Wales Casliber (submissions). Awarded the top score for featured articles this round, Casliber writes primarily on natural sciences, especially botany and ornithology.
  • Pool A's close second was Hungary Sasata (submissions). Awarded the top score for featured pictures this round, Sasata writes primarily on natural sciences, favouring mycology.
  • Pool B's close second was Colombia ThinkBlue (submissions). Awarded the top score for good articles and topics this round, ThinkBlue primarily writes content related to television and film, including 30 Rock.
  • The first wildcard was New Orleans TonyTheTiger (submissions). Awarded the top score for did you knows and valued pictures this round, TonyTheTiger writes on a number of topics, including baseball, American football and Chicago.
  • The second wildcard was White Shadows (submissions). Someone who has helped the Cup behind the scenes all year, White Shadows said "I'm still in shock that I made it this far" and writes primarily on Naval warfare, especially U-boats.

We say goodbye to the six who fell at the final hurdle. Geschichte (submissions) only just missed out on a place in the final eight. Alberta Resolute (submissions) was not far behind. Republic of Ireland Candlewicke (submissions) was awarded top points for in the news this round. Toronto Gary King (submissions) contributed a variety of did you know articles. Finland Suomi Finland 2009 (submissions) said "I'm surprised to have survived so far into the competition", but was extactic to see Finland in the semi-finals. Norway Arsenikk (submissions) did not score this round, but has scored highly in previous rounds. We also say goodbye to Ian Rose (submissions), who withdrew earlier this month after spending six weeks overseas. Anyone interested in this round's results can see them here and here. Thank you to Bavaria Stone (submissions) for these.

Signups for next year's competition are now open. Planning is ongoing, with a key discussion about judges for next year open. Discussion about how next year's scoring will work is ongoing, and thoughts are more than welcome at Wikipedia talk:WikiCup/Scoring. Also, TonyTheTiger is compiling some information and statistics on the finalists here- the final eight are encouraged to add themselves to the list.

Our final eight will play it out for two months, after which we will know 2010's WikiCup winner, and a variety of prizes will be awarded. As ever, anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. I would have to strongly agree with Eugen. Is this what you wanted to get deleted 2010 Canterbury earthquake. It was on the MP in the ITN section in case you missed. In the future please be more careful when jumping to the conclusion that an event is not important enough for wikipedia.--Wikireader41 (talk) 20:13, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
It was not when I nominated it for quick deletion, nor it was known if it was destructive or not. --Diego Grez (talk) 20:28, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
I was referring to your comment here [11]. This article was created as Eugen rightly picked up its importance and notability right away. Just because an event is getting a lot of news coverage it does not mean that WP:NOTNEWS automatically applies. In fact as you know WP has an 'In The News' section on the main page to show case the articles we have which are getting a lot of news coverage. I look forward to working with you on ITN.--Wikireader41 (talk) 20:50, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
Yes, but they not necessarily inherit notability. Not all of the news events merit an article on Wikipedia, and that's why I asked Eugen to consider if the event is notable, because he creates articles for every single earthquake!. For a reason we have Wikinews, and is where I post articles that would be AfD'dded as WP:NOTNEWS here. --Diego Grez (talk) 20:53, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

Unused, self promotional image

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I understand your frustration. People who disagree with you can really wind you and their comments often seem ludicruous. I've often felt shocked at how some people could not think certain articles encyclopedic or certsin proposal worthy on here. It is best to take a few days away and resume when it has died down. As for your library article. I've voted to keep it but you must learn to accept that some people may not see things the way you do. It is likely that the info will be merged into the main articles if it can't be expanded so nothing will be lost. You are doing great work on Chile which I, Ser Amantio and many others are very pleased about. You are more valuable than you think towards removing systematic bias on here so please don't let one moment of conflict stop you from editing. This happens on here,, it can mostly be avoided if the articles are adequately sourced and contain encyclopedic info but there are exepctions when some editors seem to lose all sense of what this project is about. Please remove your retired tag and place it with wikibreak if this is your intention and i hope to see you continuing to edit in a few days time. Your work is 100 times more valuable here than at wikinews, as her eyou get the chance to write about virtually any Chilean related topic and are not restricted to just writing about news, maybe I am biased. As you recently commented in the straw poll regarding the ongoing usage and trial of Pending changes, this is to notify you that there is an interim straw poll with regard to keeping the tool switched on or switching it off while improvements are worked on and due for release on November 9, 2010. This new poll is only in regard to this issue and sets no precedent for any future usage. Your input on this issue is greatly appreciated. Off2riorob (talk) 23:32, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

Cerati

I'm supposed to talk in English, pero supongo que hablas español, no?

--Diego Grez (talk) 00:22, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

"As they happen"? News becomes stale, but have after-effects. The naming of the dump is mentioned in the article, but could be sourced from Wikinews, but I don't see that we should link to a story three years old, since it makes us look somewhat foolish, since in no way is it "news". I've added some stuff in about the tectonic setting and the earthquake characteristics and reorganised a bit, I hope that was OK. I renamed the 'background' section to 'prediction' as that is all it covers. I'm a little unsure about that section at the moment, it gives the impression that he genuinely predicted the earthquake, rather than it being a lucky (unlucky) coincidence. Mikenorton (talk) 13:31, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, it seems better now thanks to Paul's copyedit and your corrections. As for the Middleton's prediction, that was the main reason I translated it from Spanish! :-) --Diego Grez (talk) 13:47, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi Diego,
You were wondering "who removed this pic? Take a look at 99.245.240.194 (talk · contribs). They appear to have removed it at least 2 times. I think another IP has too. Their objection seems to be it is "a fake". If it is a 'reproduction' of the original then we should say it in the caption, ie. 'Facsimile' or 'reproduction' of the note. I did drop a 3RR template on their talkpage, which they blanked, so they have seen it! - 220.101 talk\Contribs 03:06, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

I have altered the caption thus: "Digitally enhanced scan of the note sent by the miners." Maybe that will satisfy the 'deletionists'! - 220.101 talk\Contribs 03:51, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
Probably! It is just a "re-drawing" of the original, which was uploaded to El Mercurio newspaper in late August. :-) --Diego Grez (talk) 16:44, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

Discussion in Talk:2010 Copiapó mining accident

  • About this part of a discussion:

  • There were pictures of the Fenix 2 capsule (Chilean Government uploaded them as CC-BY to Flickr, we imported some of them to Commons but it was clarified later that they weren't for commercial use) but the government website is copyrighted. Perhaps someone could draw Fénix? Diego Grez (talk) 14:33, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
If they are on the Chilean Government's website, please what is their web addresses? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 14:01, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Mining Ministry ; Government. Also, next time don't remove my signature from my comments. Diego Grez (talk) 14:33, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

  • Concerning this discussion, I feel that I should point out that the history of page Talk:2010 Copiapó mining accident shows that the message "There were pictures of the Fenix 2 capsule ..." was entered without a signature and that I did not damage anyone else's messages. Thanks. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 17:41, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

You deserve it. HaŋaRoa (talk · contribs) isn't listed as a contributor here Edit history of 2010 Copiapó mining accident]. What about IANVS (talk · contribs) and Pristino (talk · contribs)? Yup, ResearchRave, IANVS and Pristino have done a good job on the article, mostly on minor things, but that help make it great. Maybe I'm missing a few ones, perhaps Lihaas (talk · contribs)? They helped me with copyediting on the first draft of the article. Diego Grez (talk) 01:45, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Foto de Sebastián Piñera

Hola.

Noté, además, que en el historial de File:Piñera_crop.jpg has agregado "If you want to use that version, reupload it under a different name i.e. Piñera crop 2.jpg. Thanks.", pero cuando alguien hace exactamente eso, tu vas artículo por artículo eliminando la nueva foto.

Agradezco que medites sobre tu actitud, gracias. Pristino (talk) 03:44, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

English

Hello. I think this version is better suited for articles on presidential elections than this other version, mainly because it focuses on the subject's head, as in the rest of the candidates's headshots. This allows for quick subject identification and for the harmonizing of the photos.

I noted that in File:Piñera_crop.jpg's history you've added "If you want to use that version, reupload it under a different name i.e. Piñera crop 2.jpg. Thanks.", but when a user does exactly that you go article by article replacing every instance of the new photo.

That isn't very nice, so I hope you can give it a thought. Thanks. Pristino (talk) 03:44, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

(English — In any case, your preferred photo of Piñera does not fit in with the rest of the photos in the presidential election articles. This spoils the article's aesthetics and tidiness.) ACC request

Requesting ACC access again... I was just approved on January, when I was blocked. I couldn't even see how did the interface looked. As I almost got bored writing articles, I would like to help in other areas. Thanks. Diego Grez (talk) 17:29, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for applying to access the account creation tool. I have approved your request so welcome to the team. You may now access the tool here. Before you do so, please read the tool's guide thoroughly to familiarize yourself with the process.
You may also want to join #wikipedia-en-accounts on IRC where a bot informs us when new account requests come in and to get any advice on requests as well as the mailing list. Please note that we have implemented a policy of zero tolerance on mishandled requests, and that failure to assess correctly will result in suspension. I would like to emphasize that it is not a race to complete a request, and each one should be handled diligently and thoroughly.
Currently you are allowed to create up to six accounts per day, although you won't be able to create an account with a similar name to that of another user; these requests are marked "Account Creator Needed" by the bot and "Flagged user needed" in the tool. However, if you reach the limit frequently, you can request the account creator permission at WP:PERM.
Please keep in mind that the ACC tool is a powerful program, and misuse will result in your access being suspended by a tool administrator. Don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions. Thank you for participating in the account creation process. Again welcome! --Alexandr Dmitri (talk) 17:34, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Pichilemu Fault

Hi Diego, I've taken a look at the Pichilemu Fault article and tweaked the language a bit, although my spanish is a lot less than perfect. My main concern is that the fault has not yet been definitively named as the 'Pichilemu Fault' or 'Falla de Pichilemu' in any available scientific source, only in various news reports in which the quoted seismologists use no specific name. Until it is formally named, I think that it would be better to merge the content of the fault article into the earthquake article. There is a similar story for both the 2010 Haiti earthquake and the 2010 Canterbury earthquake, in which rupture along previously undescribed faults caused the earthquakes, but the structures have yet to be named. Probably best to wait until a name is clearly established, unless you have a source that quotes a seismologist using the term of course. In part, I suppose I'm trying to forestall somebody taking this to AfD, where I'm not convinced that it would survive. Within a few months, scientific reports will start to appear and things will be a lot clearer, hopefully. Anyway, I will include a section on this in the earthquake article, without using a specific fault name. I'll leave it to you to decide whether to redirect the fault article there or wait for better sources to appear (as I'm sure they will eventually, although you may have to change the name) and accept the risk of AfD for now. Sorry not to be more positive, Mikenorton (talk) 10:37, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Oh. I didn't think of it that way. Let's redirect the fault article to the earthquake one until new sources appear then. Diego Grez (talk) 16:12, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
I think that's the safest. Chances are that it will be named the Pichilemu fault, we just don't want to be accused of coming up with the name ourselves. Keep a copy of the full text and we can recreate it as soon as sources exist. Mikenorton (talk) 19:58, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for making the proper name fix and for reverting the edits made by "Kimberly". As one of Puerto Rico's top military historians, I know Capt. Castro and we've communicated quite often by phone. If he wanted something changed he would call me and let me know as he has done n the past. I told "Kimberly" in his/her "talk page" that Wikipedia is about reliable verifiable sources and not about requests that we claim to have received by e-mail. Therefore, I asked that user once more to refrain from reverting and making changes to the article, unless he/she can cite and provide us with proof, otherwise he/her changes will be deemed as vandalism. Re: ACC Request 55036

Hi Diego, re: this request on the ACC, you deferred it to the checkusers, however, per the guide requests should only be deferred to checkusers if it is a {{checkuserblock}} or variant thereof, however, User:Stwalkerster, the blocking admin left the following note in the comment: "If you wish to edit Wikipedia, please use this form to request an account: toolserver.org/~acc/)" so it shouldn't have been deferred to a checkuser, I understand you were acting in good faith but it would be best to not rush requests and to err on the side of caution. Recently you nominated Earthquakes in 1985 for GA status [13]. However, it appears Earthquakes in 1985 is more of a list than an article. According to the Wikipedia:Good article criteria, "Lists, portals, sounds, and images: these items should be nominated for featured list, featured portal, featured sounds, and featured picture status respectively" . Therefore, it is likely that it will not be eligible for GA and it would be referred to WP:FLC instead. --maclean (talk) 02:07, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Lol. I really had to change my username quickly, and this username was the first thing that came to my mind. Diego Grez (talk) 15:54, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
Is this WP:RTV? Also, I think you should change your signature to point to this page and your current username. HeyMid (contribs) 16:03, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
No... not really. I feel a bit unsafe using my real name on the wiki, and I have some other reasons I don't want to say publicly. And, fixed the signature thing. Diego Grez (EMSIUB) (talk) 16:07, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
No, Heymid - in RTV the editor is supposed to just...vanish, and not edit Wikipedia at all. This is just a namechange. But what a name.... --Elen of the Roads (talk) 17:08, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

An important image was deleted from the Mining Accident article

Hello... I just wanted to inform you that the CommonsDelinker bot removed the "Estamos_bien_los_33.svg" image, from the 2010 Copiapó mining accident article, because it has apparently been deleted from Commons by Jameslwoodward. Not sure totally what's going on...but that was an important image. The message from the trapped miners that they were ok, all 33, etc. I was wondering if you (in your experience and skill) can maybe somehow get another copy of that image back, onto Wikipedia, and onto that Mining accident article. It was a very good digital representation of the note the miners wrote...and is historical. And it arguably SHOULD be on this article. Let me know what you can do. Hopefully it can be restored. Thanks. ResearchRave (talk) 02:00, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

Reuploaded under the same filename. Diego Grez (EMSIUB) (talk) 02:05, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
ok, thanks. But I took a look at the history of the mining article...and it shows that you "reverted" what that bot did, and then someone else MBelgrano soon afterwards undid your revert. So I'm curious. The image you re-uploaded, is that ok to use? Let me know. Thanks. ResearchRave (talk) 02:38, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
