My edit on Consequences Of War

Hello,

I just recently began working to improve wikipedia and today decided to work on some art pages (as i just recently spent some time with an Art History professor at a local university). I received a notification that you undid my edit and was hoping to learn from my mistakes. Were my changes inaccurate? Excessive? Thank you for your advice and I certainly hope I can help out in the future! Khepre (talk) 23:07, 15 February 2016 (UTC)Khepre

Hello @Khepre: I undid your edit because you wrote: "This is a further indication that war sacrifices culture at the altar of destruction". One of Wikipedia's fundamental principles is that we write from a Neutral point of view. Now, if you find a reliable source that says what you wrote, then you can quote the source and maintain Wikipedia's neutral point of view. You could even quote Rubens himself: "In addition, one sees an architect thrown on his back, with his instruments in his hand, to show that which in time of peace is constructed for the use and ornamentation of the City, is hurled to the ground by the force of arms and falls to ruin." as long as you point out that it was Rubens who said it and cite the source (the letter to Sustermans). It's an incredible painting, I saw it in Florence as a young art student. All the best, Mduvekot (talk) 23:40, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Philadelphia Museum of Art may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "{}"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

You cannot write [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Liviu_Dragnea&type=revision&diff=704294563&oldid=704294085 what you wrote in an article and expect that to go unchallenged. Mduvekot (talk) 19:30, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

Conspicuous Service Medal

Hello!

I'll be honest, I blatantly vandalized that page (and possibly a couple others) for a laugh, the practice of useless officers getting awarded medals for doing their job is often considered a problem by their long-suffering subordinates, but not really a fact or worthy for submission on Wikipedia (yet). Well done, you've caught me out! I won't vandalize again!

Thanks for being so polite :D - 114.76.10.106

Hello! Lugner announced yesterday to participate in the Austrian presidential elections (for which he needs to collect 6.000 subscribes). So please don't undo it.

Good luck and thanks. – Gilliam (talk) 01:28, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

depression in college students

Hello Mr/Miss Mduvekot. My page Depression in college students is for my Psych class final. We have to select a topic for our group, which is depression in college students, then build a wiki page that will be graded in two weeks. None of my group mates have built a wiki before and we are learning as we go along. Once our professor has seen that we can build a wiki page with our information then we will take it down. If you delete it we will fail the class. Please do not delete! We will delete it as soon as it's finished and our professor grades it. It has to be a wiki page for the project, each group is doing a wiki page with a different Psych issue. If it's deleted before hand, we will mostly fail the class and I need it for a prerequisite for another class that I need to graduate. Please and thank you! @Psychteam4: What's the username of your psych prof? There's a correct way of going about this. Mduvekot (talk) 04:04, 16 February 2016 (UTC)

WikiProject X Newsletter • Issue 7

Newsletter • February 2016

This month:

One database for Wikipedia requests

Development of the extension for setting up WikiProjects, as described in the last issue of this newsletter, is currently underway. No terribly exciting news on this front.

In the meantime, we are working on a prototype for a new service we hope to announce soon. The problem: there are requests scattered all across Wikipedia, including requests for new articles and requests for improvements to existing articles. We Wikipedians are very good at coming up with lists of things to do. But once we write these lists, where do they end up? How can we make them useful for all editors—even those who do not browse the missing articles lists, or the particular WikiProjects that have lists?

Introducing Wikipedia Requests, a new tool to centralize the various lists of requests around Wikipedia. Requests will be tagged by category and WikiProject, making it easier to find requests based on what your interests are. Accompanying this service will be a bot that will let you generate reports from this database on any wiki page, including WikiProjects. This means that once a request is filed centrally, it can syndicated all throughout Wikipedia, and once it is fulfilled, it will be marked as "complete" throughout Wikipedia. The idea for this service came about when I saw that it was easy to put together to-do lists based on database queries, but it was harder to do this for human-generated requests when those requests are scattered throughout the wiki, siloed throughout several pages. This should especially be useful for WikiProjects that have overlapping interests.

The newsletter this month is fairly brief; not a lot of news, just checking in to say that we are hard at work and hope to have more for you soon.

Until next time,
