Image source problem with Image:Awh routemap.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Awh routemap.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:55, 20 June 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 16:55, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please point me to where abouts on the source website it says that the image is released under the GFDL? J Milburn (talk) 17:08, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can see no evidence that the image is in any way free- in fact, the website explicitly says "2006 AWH Engineering College All Rights Reserved", which would imply that it is very much not free. As such, I do not believe the image is usable. Would you like me to delete it? J Milburn (talk) 17:14, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I realise it may seem ridiculous, but until the copyright holder has released it, we cannot use it (except under a claim of fair use, but this wouldn't fall under our rather strict non-free content criteria). I will delete the image now- why not draw your own map? J Milburn (talk) 17:21, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No. This image could be replaced by a free image (perhaps by drawing your own, or taking your own photo and annotating it) and so it does not meet our non-free content criteria, and, as such, cannot be used under a claim of fair use according to our policies and guidelines on the subject. J Milburn (talk) 23:07, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on TRASSET Services Group requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. noq (talk) 10:32, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

TRASSET userfied[edit]

Hey, I got your message. I see that another admin has userfied the page for you. Is there anything else you'd like me to do, or are you taken care of? Peace, delldot ∇. 19:53, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This image fails under two criteria - 1st, it's a copyright violation from [1] and not Creative-Commons 3.0 licensed. Second, it's a replaceable non-free image (i.e. the person is alive and getting a non-free picture(s) is possible). For both of these reasons it can't be used here. Hello WarFox! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot notifying you on behalf of the the unreferenced biographies team that 1 of the articles that you created is currently tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. Hello WarFox. I noticed you already successfully nominated User:Chandye/Can i make money online, realy? at WP:MFD. However, you did not leave a rationale as to why you believe the page should be deleted. This is important as it will give users some insight into your reasoning for why the page should be deleted. Please return to Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Chandye/Can i make money online, realy? and explain your reasoning for the deletion of this page, which is normally before your signature. Reviewer permission[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged revisions, underwent a two-month trial which ended on 15 August 2010. Its continued use is still being discussed by the community, you are free to participate in such discussions. Many articles still have pending changes protection applied, however, and the ability to review pending changes continues to be of use.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under level 1 pending changes and edits made by non-reviewers to level 2 pending changes protected articles (usually high traffic articles). Pending changes was applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't grant you status nor change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:54, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Guzaarish[edit]

Hey WarFox. I noticed you reverted as vandalism an edit done by an IP here. I understand why you did this but would ask that you read the Talk page for the reason why the IP did this. The short of it is that the plot section contains numerous examples of copyright violations and needs to be cleaned up or most likely just rewritten from scratch. I don't want to do it myself (I know nothing about the movie) and so left a note hoping someone might come along and do it. Whether the IP was successful at the attempt is debatable but I definitely do not think it was an attempt at vandalism. Anyway, maybe you have some ideas for that section. My apologies if I bothered you. I was referring to your user name and contributions in article John Gotti. I assumed you may have conflict on interest based on this. And about the rollback I did to your citation edit, was assuming the coi and Huggle asserted it was vandalism. Then I checked that manually and found it was legitimate citation, and I had rolled back my revert. Thank you for your understanding.WarFox (talk | contribs) 15:41, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest[edit]

Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.

As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.

If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.

You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

I am honoured that you have chosen me for this request. It would take considerable effort from my side to get exact English translation for this song, which has lavish use of colloquial words and phrases. So I would like to know the nature of this request whether it is a personal request or wikipedia related request or for any other project outside wikipedia. Please note that I prefer communicating with a real person, than just an IP address. WarFox (talk | contribs) 10:49, 21 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
sorry, I tried o sign in, first time to write in wikipedia....
i would like to have the exact meaning in english of this mallayalam song from 1993, first for private interest. If the text is more or less what I expect it to be I would maybe like to put it on my website that I created for the benefit of fishermen in Kovalam Kerala.
About my website I would like to put an link as well in one article of wikipedia.
--Gesineglaeser (talk) 11:42, 21 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds great, especially from a German speaking person. Is this your website? http://www.girija-yoga.de. About this song - it is extremely popular song in Kerala, even now. I shall try to do my best shot at this. Please give me atleast a weeks time. I like your interest in Kerala, Yoga and fishermen in Kerala. Best wishes for your project. :) WarFox (talk | contribs) 12:08, 21 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

good morning, yes it is my website. are you native from Kerala? from where? it would be really great if you could help me for the translation. may be little by little? I understood that this song is working with a lot of images like comparing sunset color and pan spitting in the sand. the words naakkili mukkili etc. seem to be funny tongue breakers for malaylis as well? anyway i will wait. thanks for answering that fast!Gesineglaeser (talk) 08:32, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I'm a native of Kerala, and I'm from Calicut. Here goes an attempt for the first 4 lines.
Anthi kkadappurath orolakkudayeduthu
Naalum kootty murukki nadakkanathaaraanu aaraanu.(2)
Who is that walking along the seashore in the evening
With a palm-leaf-umbrella and spitting paan
Njaanalla parunthalla therakalalla
Chemmanam vaazhana thorayarayan
Ange kadalil palli urangaan moopparu ponathaane
Its not me, neither is it the eagle nor the waves
It is the fisher man who stays in the red sky
He is going to sleep for the night in the other sea

WarFox (talk | contribs) 10:39, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

hallo war fox.

you made me very happy with translation, now I understand better!!!

Little later: something more is coming from your translation? For the first lines I had a mixture of translation and explanation from a fisherman. He said "Who..... It is the sky living man. sun goes relaxing behind the ocean. grand father / old man sleeping other side of the ocean." and somebody else write me down the following: sunset beach. tree leaf umbrella holding, 4 things mixing together, put in mouth and chewing round" ('every body in Kerala would understand that it is the matter about pan?).then:" who are you. Not me, and kite and waves. red sky living village fisherman far away in the sea for sleeping lord sun." None of the translations are really clear to understand for a Westerner at least. I wonder if all this information is in these few lines?

If you are free I shall be very happy if you can help me more with the text. hope your place it is better wheather than here in Germany.... monsoon is nothing compared to what we have now.

thanksGesineglaeser (talk) 09:12, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gesine, I was busy with work for a few days. I see you got confused by getting translation from different people. They all have talked about sea-shore, sun, sunset, pan. What I understand is that the writer is trying to compare the sunset and red color of the sky at sunset to pan spitting of someone staying in the sky.
If you are trying to understand the context and meaning of the song, I shall give you some hint. You should already know that, this is a song from a movie about fishermen and theatre drama. Song starts as a conversation between two fishermen from a toddy shop, near beach in the evening and then they go out into the beach. The entire song is set as conversation between two person and they talk about sun, sunset, sky, beach, fish, Chakara and fishermens' life.
Naalum kootty murukki nadakkanathaaraanu aaraanu. Means who is chewing pan and going/walking. Paan is a mix of 4 things. Hope that makes it more clear.
And I made a mistake translating parunthu to eagle, its actually Kite, the bird as your friend have translated.
Here is my try on the next verse
maraneerum monthi nadakkana
chemmaanathe ponnarayan(2)
neettithuppiya thaanelippura
manalellam ponnaavoole
maanathe poonthurayil valaveeshana kaanoole.(2)
vela peshi nirakkana koodelu meenanengi
pedakkoole meenanengi pedakkoole
Maraneeru means drink made from tree, here it means Toddy. In these lines writer is again comparing sun with a fisher man.
He says, the golden fisherman who drinks toddy and lives in the red sky. If he is the one who spat then the won't all the sands turn to gold?
Won't you see fishing in the sky? Won't you see fish in the basket? WarFox (talk | contribs) 09:17, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

hi,

it took me long but I found back your page.... Computer..... thanks again. Slowly I understand it is very difficult just to translate because most westerners would not understand anything without so many hints. Ok once you finished I will try that.

There must be a part in the song where one of the discussing men (or both?) telling very fast all the activities of fishermen. the part with "...naakkili mukkili...."?

Thanks again and I wait for next?? Nice weekend to you, GesineGesineglaeser (talk) 11:58, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article upgrade assistance request (Pre-translation stage)[edit]

Seasons Greetings,

This is in reference to a relatively new umbrella article on en-wikipedia named Ceremonial pole. Ceremonial pole is a human tradition since ancient times; either existed in past at some point of time, or still exists in some cultures across global continents from north to south & from east to west. Ceremonial poles are used to symbolize a variety of concepts in several different world cultures.

Through article Ceremonial pole we intend to take encyclopedic note of cultural aspects and festive celebrations around Ceremonial pole as an umbrella article and want to have historical, mythological, anthropological aspects, reverence or worships wherever concerned as a small part.

While Ceremonial poles have a long past and strong presence but usually less discussed subject. Even before we seek translation of this article in global languages, we need to have more encyclopedic information/input about Ceremonial poles from all global cultures and languages. And we seek your assistance in the same.

Since other contributors to the article are insisting for reliable sources and Standard native english; If your contributions get deleted (for some reason like linguistics or may be your information is reliable but unfortunately dosent match expectations of other editors) , please do list the same on Talk:Ceremonial pole page so that other wikipedians may help improve by interlanguage collaborations, and/or some other language wikipedias may be interested in giving more importance to reliablity of information over other factors on their respective wikipedia.

This particular request is being made to you since your user name is listed in Wikipedia:Translators available list.

Thanking you with warm regards Mahitgar (talk) 05:56, 24 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity[edit]

Hello! There is currently a request for approval of a bot to manage the AutoWikiBrowser CheckPage by removing inactive users, among other tasks. You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 23:36, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
