re: personal attacks

I was not the first one to make a personal attack, and I have made no personal attacks on the page itself; the talk page is a different story. I was called an a**hole WAY before I ever retaliated. I do not appreciate your one-sided comments on my userpage, and I hope that you'll do the fair thing by telling Jyre and SiahZendik not to attack me, either. Right? - Rashaun 01:46, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

(Edited by Wavemaster447 for inappropriate language)
Not being the first does not matter. The fact is that you did it. Also, I did not touch your userpage. I placed a template on your talk page. I did warm Jyre, thought I did not get SiahZendik You may warn him by placing the {{subst:uw-npa3} template on his talk page. I will change the article refrence on the warning if you wish. --Wavemaster447 21:24, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

O'Connell Center

The edits were made because the prior editor added vandalism to the infobox (stating that the stadium seats 12,000 but only 30-35 people ever showed up for an event, a clear instance of vandalism). 76.187.62.115 02:50, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Sorry - the anti-vandal script I use must have missed your edit in attempt to undo that vandalism. Accept my humble apologies --Wavemaster447 02:52, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Mets 2007 Game Log

Wavemaster, I don't know why you thought my edit to the Mets 2007 Season Game Log was vandalism. I simply added the details of the Mets Opening Night win to the log. What did you see wrong with it? Are you a bot or something? Please look at that again and don't let this happen again. I did nothing wrong. (Unsigned - comment made by 69.201.134.220. Also, comment was left on my userpage. Please leave all comments on talk pages.)

I am very sorry! At first glance, your edit (46,429) appeared to be vandalism in the score colum. Now that I look back at it, (diff) I notice that you added it to the attendance column. Accept my apologies! --Wavemaster447 19:18, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Somebody Like You

Wavemaster, I didn't mean to delete the category for Somebody Like You. I had two edit pages open, and got confused. I did not mean to vandalize. 64.71.85.234 23:05, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

That's perfectly fine. We all make mistakes, especially new wikipedians. Just look at the spots above! Both mistakes on my part, with over a year of experience! --Wavemaster447 02:04, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Regarding your post to User_talk:64.230.97.158

Please keep your opinions regarding other users' vandalism to yourself, rather than encouraging disruptive behavior. If you read the Wikipedia policy on user space edits you would see that deletion of comments for any reason is permitted on one's own user talk page. Instead you seem to be cheering on this vandal for reverting a version of my userpage which had unblock templates on it, causing an admin to yell at me for posting an unblock template when I was not blocked (it was her responsibility to look at the history but still). Also, people who live in glass houses... --Tjsynkral 04:57, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

I am sorry about any damage the revision might have caused. I do alot of time reverting vandalism and I saw a IP adress reverting vandalism (or at least that's what it looked like). It appeared that he had not warned the vandal, so I used the uw-warn template to tell him to warn vandals when he reverts their edits. If it was not vandalism, then that was my mistake and I am very sorry for any inconvenionce. And, BTW, the "glass house" was archived to an older archive. Wavemaster447(Need help? Ask me) 17:19, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Regarding your post to Butwhatdoiknow

Thank you, I think, for posting two messages to my discussion page. I gather the postings were intended to instructive but they assume more knowledge than I have. I see you have one of the postings duplicated here. So I assume you are sending it out often. If so then you might want to consider revising it to make it clearer to folks who are newbies and are not operating with the same level of sophistication that you have with Wikipedia. Butwhatdoiknow 22:41, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

I have noticed that some newcomers don't know the etiquette of the talk pages, and I feel that that template is very informative. It is a template header and is meant to go on the top, though. I fixed it on your talk page so the formatting is correct again - if you don't want it, you may delete it by removing the top three lines of your talk page. It is not a comment, but rather a header for your talk page to inform anybody who comes, and the user it is sent to. If you need any help regarding the template, feel free to ask. Some of the concepts of Wikipedia are a bit complicated. Wavemaster447(Need help? Ask me) 17:19, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
Sorry if I wasn't clear. I wasn't suggesting that you not provide this information, only that you might want to dumb it down a bit. For example, "Automatically sign your comments using ~~~~" could become "It is considered good etiquette to sign your comments. You can do this automatically by typing four tildes (~~~~)." Also, when you put this information on the top of another user's page you can start a conversation at the bottom saying something like "Hi, I have just added some text to the top of this page to help new users learn how to better communicate with you. If you don't want it, you may delete it by removing the top three lines of this page." Butwhatdoiknow 00:05, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
Nevermind, I figured out how to do it myself: Template:User talk top. (But I still think you ought to add a note if you add this to someone else's page.) Butwhatdoiknow 18:46, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

Copy editing request

Wavemaster447,

I recently requested a copy edit from the League of Copy Editors and noticed that your name is included on the list of participants. At this writing, Jimmy McAleer, a B-class biography of an old-time American baseball figure, is in the peer review process. So far, all reviewers have suggested that the article is ready to send to the GAC. A couple of them recommended that I send it straight to the FAC. Before considering the latter, I would like to ensure that the article is as clean as possible. I'd greatly appreciate any time you're able to devote to it. Cheers, -- twelsht (talk) 15:08, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

I have been extremely busy as of late, as you might have noticed by my lack of response. Also, I have tried to devote more of my time towards Counter-Vandalism. Also, my lack of a functuning copy of MS word have inhibited my copyediting ability. You may wish to seek somebody else on the copyediting list. I might be able to edit it for you this weekend, though. Please let me know. P.S. Sorry for messing up on your talk page - it's been so long since I've had a real conversation with somebody on a talk page I forgot policy.--Wavemaster447(Need help? Ask me) 02:25, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for getting back to me! Your help on this would be much appreciated. By the way, I committed my own faux pas last month when I prematurely closed my request for a copy edit from the League of Copy Editors. (I was concerned about contributing to the extensive backlog.) If you are able to edit this article, you may want to close the request properly, with an acknowledgement that you worked on the article. Thanks, in advance, for any help that you're able to provide! Cheers, -- twelsht (talk) 04:25, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Greetings from the League of Copyeditors. Your name is listed on our members page, but we are unsure how many of the people listed there are still active contributors to the League's activities. If you are still interested in participating in the work of the League, please follow the instructions at the members page to add your name to the active members list. Once you have done that, you might want to familiarise yourself with the new requests system, which has replaced the old /proofreading subpage. As the old system is now deprecated, the main efforts of the League should be to clear the substantial backlog which still exists there.
The League's services are in as high demand as ever, as evinced by the increasing backlog on our requests pages, both old and new. While FA and GA reviewers regularly praise the League's contributions to reviewed articles, we remain perennially understaffed. Fulfilling requests to polish the prose of Wikipedia's highest-profile articles is a way that editors can make a very noticeable difference to the appearance of the encyclopedia. On behalf of the League, if you do consider yourself to have left, I hope you will consider rejoining; if you consider yourself inactive, I hope you will consider returning to respond to just one request per week, or as many as you can manage. Merry Christmas and happy editing, The League of Copyeditors.

Why did you revert that IP on...

Hi, why did you revert the changes by that IP at Hollows (series) as vandalism? I looked at the changes, and they look perfectly reasonable to me. That was not vandalism. Aleta (Sing) 21:53, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

~Hmm... Not sure why I reverted that. Every time I go on a anti-vandal spree I do a few reverts that I cant seem to figure out why. Thanks for pointing it out! --Wavemaster447(Need help? Ask me) 23:48, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
OK, I'm glad it's sorted out. :) Aleta (Sing) 14:31, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

McCain

Don't censor me, Mr. John McCain supporter. (Unsigned comment left by 69.227.66.45)

First of all, please be sure to create a new section on talk pages, to avoid confusion. Also, please sign your entries. However, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia! There should be no opinions, thus the neutral point of view. See WP:NOT and Wikipedia:Neutral point of view Everybody is being censored. Also, (this has nuthing to do with the current topic), but I have been an obama fan for a few years now. see my Opinions page --Wavemaster447(Need help? Ask me) 08:38, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

RC Patrol-related Proposals in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey

Greetings Recent Changes Patrollers!

This is a one-time-only message to inform you about technical proposals related to Recent Changes Patrol in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey that I think you may be interested in reviewing and perhaps even voting for:

  1. Adjust number of entries and days at Last unpatrolled
  2. Editor-focused central editing dashboard
  3. "Hide trusted users" checkbox option on watchlists and related/recent changes (RC) pages
  4. Real-Time Recent Changes App for Android
  5. Shortcut for patrollers to last changes list

Further, there are more than 20 proposals related to Watchlists in general that you may be interested in reviewing. (and over 260 proposals in all, across many aspects of wikis)

Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.

Note: You received this message because you have transcluded {{User wikipedia/RC Patrol}} (user box) on your user page. Since this message is "one-time-only" there is no opt out for future mailings.

Transparent inclusion of Infobox settlement

I inserted the correct name, avoiding the redirect. This makes it transparent for each editor what the actual template is. The editor then immediately knows what variables he can use and how they work.

Also I fixed the reference to description to point to the actual description - there is none for Infobox department.

The reverter gave no reason for his reverts, but he should per WP:BOLD. When I pointed that out, he removed the pointer to WP:BOLD [1] and continued his disruption, violating 3RR in several places. 78.55.251.135 (talk) 04:39, 15 November 2017 (UTC)

You care to show me where it was bestowed upon an anonymous editor(s) to makes these drastic changes to all these articles? Not only that, but you have yet to point out any sort of guide, or consensus you are following. A quick look through my editing history would make it clear to you I'm a vandal-fighter, and your edits, as well as the edits of other anonymous IP editors close to yours caught my attention. Not to mention the fact that you ask for "proof" for this when I pointed this out. That's why I have alot of trouble taking your edits as constructive. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 04:43, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
There is nothing "drastic" apart from your reactions. If you are a vandal-fighter then there is probably better work for you to do. There is no vandalism in these repalcements. "Not to mention the fact that you ask for "proof" for this when I pointed this out." - You are a liar. Truth is, that I asked for an example, when you claimed disruption. 78.55.251.135 (talk) 04:47, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
I think it's pretty clear that this isn't a simple vandalism case - unless you can come to an agreement about what's happening, I'd suggest engaging in dispute resolution over at WP:DRN. I can't do that for you, it needs to be a user involved in the dispute. Anon, I'd really suggest creating an account - we'd hate for your IP address to change mid discussion. Wavemaster447(Need help? Ask me) 04:52, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
We're already having this conversation on your talk page, IP editor. There is no need to extend it further here. Again, to-may-toe, to-mah-toe. The fact that you even asked for an example is what sent the alarm bells ringing. You want an example? Go through my edit history, dear. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 04:53, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
User:Wavemaster447 "we'd hate for your IP address to change mid discussion" - cannot prevent that. That's why I prefer to have the talk on another page than IP talk. Since you are only outside observer it may be more usefull to have it at User_talk:Boomer Vial#Your edits. 78.55.251.135 (talk) 05:00, 15 November 2017 (UTC)

Rollback granted

Hi Wavemaster447. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Anarchyte (work | talk) 05:57, 15 November 2017 (UTC)

Please help with usability testing

Hello! The mw:Anti-Harassment Tools team is running a usability test to find out how and where IP addresses are used when patrolling wikis, particularly when patrolling RecentChanges. This could include New Pages or RecentChanges patrol. We want to see your patrolling process and get your views on some prototypes. Getting your perspective would be really helpful to us at this stage of the process.
