Andrew Wodrow was an early settler of Romney, and was authorized by an act of the Virginia General Assembly to serve as a trustee for the town. Wodrow was also the first resident Clerk of Court for Hampshire County, and was elected to represent Hampshire County at the Virginia Ratifying Convention. Photo Question

Hey Caponer, I was wondering if you live in or near the Morgantown area. I ask because I am looking for a picture of the outside of the WCLG-AM/FM studios in Morgantown, but it is proving very difficult to find a free version. Hey Neutralhomer! I totally would but unfortunately I live in D.C. and I don't make it out to West Virginia as often as I'd like, especially the Morgantown area! If you ever need any images in the Eastern Panhandle/D.C. region, I can sometimes swing it, but Motown is a bit out of reach for me! No worries. I'm in between Morgantown and DC (near Winchester), so it is definitely a trek for you. I was able to find someone who is studying at WVU to take a couple pictures, so all is good. The WCLG-FM article is almost completely updated, the WCLG (AM) article is next. It's got alot of OR that I need to source, so that should be fun. I'm glad you enjoy them. Christian Streit White

I noticed you did a lot of work on the page of Christian Streit White. He was, indeed, named for his Grandfather, the Rev. Christian Streit. But he was also named for his Great-Great Grandfather, also named Christian Streit, originally Kristiaan Streit. Ref1

The Rev. Streit was the first Lutheran pastor in Winchester, Virginia at what is today, Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winchester.Ref2

I've been creating and expanding articles for the White family, and still have a ways to go, but it seems they definitely married into many extraordinary families (like the Streits)! NRHP categories

Regarding categories such as Category:National Register of Historic Places listings in Hancock County, West Virginia, please note that the naming convention for sites-per-county doesn't include "listings". This is because the main article is a list, and "listing" is not used to mean "a place that's on the National Register". Please see examples such as the subcategories of Category:National Register of Historic Places in New York by county or Category:National Register of Historic Places in Illinois by county. No, unfortunately your mea culpa is worthless for this kind of thing — once someone else has opposed the request, the creator's opinion is worth no more than anyone else's. I've not checked back, but unless Armbrust has withdrawn his opposition, we'll have to go through with all those CFDs. Lest I be unclear, I'm not trying to say that your input is worthless in my mind; I greatly appreciate your comments. I'm purely saying that the WP:CFDS procedures don't care about your mea culpa. I expect that the CFDs will go through; they have the weight of numbers on their side, the creator's opinion has some additional weight in a CFD, and Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2008 October 18 unambiguously supports the current name format. Ah, okay, very good. Normally these things get taken to CFD when someone opposes, so while I didn't expect him to withdraw it, I figured that it would soon be taken over there. In the unexpected chance that he withdrew it, I knew I'd have to wait a few more days before it would be processed; it was simply that I didn't feel like checking in yet because I didn't see how checking in would have any beneficial effect. Looks very good indeed. I've just gone through and made a hatful of changes, mostly cosmetic and none GA-critical; if you opt to revert any or all of them, it won't affect the rating. I think that they make the prose flow a little more smoothly, but none of them corrected an egregious error or was necessary for a sentence to make sense.
I sympathize with your wanting to hold something back for a Jacob Green article. However, we want to give readers the necessary information without making them chase a see-also link, and I don't think we're there yet. At WP:LINKSTYLE, it's noted that readers might not be able to follow links: if, for instance, they've only got a printed copy of the article.
Once the Green section has been expanded a bit, I think it's ready for a pass. I'll tempt fate by offering you advance congratulations, and thanks for all the work that you've put into this. Thanks, too, for putting up with my shortcomings as a reviewer. I'll get better with time and practice; you've been very patient with my initial halting efforts. Very nice! I'm up to my ears in another GA review right now, so I don't have time to give the expanded article the attention it deserves, but I'm looking forward to reading it in detail when I've got some time.

I'm having a little trouble letting go of my role as reviewer, so I hope you won't mind a few suggestions. First, why not put the Green affair in its chronological position-- that is, before the Civil War? Second, I'd mention the national attention that the affair received in the lead section. As currently written, it reads as though it's chiefly notable as an incident in the life of notable person Faulkner..

I put a map in the infobox, based on the coordinates that were there: like many people who know just a little about the Civil War, I think of WV as having been the non-slaveholding part of VA, so it seems just a little odd to read about slaveowners there. A map that shows how close Romney is to still-Virginia (and makes it clear that it's not way out in the mountains) helps me reconcile that. You might want to look at the coordinates, incidentally: when I checked them on Google Maps, I hit what looked like a patch of trees with no dwellings especially nearby. That doesn't affect the location-in-WV map, of course, but it's good to have accurate coordinates. (I spend a lot of time travelling and photographing NRHP sites along the way, and good coordinates can be critical when I'm trying to find a site.)

Thanks for the latest progress report on Isaac Parsons and Wappocomo. My GAR is hanging fire: I suspect that the nominator may be tied up with year-end things, so I'm reluctant to prod him right now. That being the case, I'll go to work on those two articles.
When I was acting as the GA reviewer on the Virginia Argus, I could suggest major changes but couldn't make them, since that would've made me a major contributor to the article and thus ineligible as a reviewer. That's not the case here. If I see something major that I'd like changed (e.g. the order in which two subjects are handled, or something that I don't think should be included in the article), should I make the change myself, or would you rather I suggest it to you first? I know about WP:BOLD and WP:OWN and all that; nevertheless, I think that a certain amount of deference is owed to someone who's put in a major effort on an article. I DYKticked your request as good to go. The Parson's Ferry portion of the article was interesting and it would be nice to see more information on it (if available) in a Parson's Ferry stand alone article. Looking in recent news sources, I found a ferry across Parson's Channel in Barnston Island (British Columbia), but nothing specific to Parson's Ferry in Virginia. -- Jreferee (talk) 11:30, 22 December 2013 (UTC)

Thanks. I recall watching a TV show (History Detectives, I think) within the last year that sought to find the exact location for a ferry (I think in Virginia), but am not sure which ferry. I'm glad that you are bring information in old books likely to be seen by few to Wikipedia where many can easily find it. It is nice to know that you enjoyed the articles I wrote. I wrote the Steve Cuozzo Wikipedia biography because he wrote an article entitled "Don't trust anything on Wikipedia" and I liked the irony of Wikipedia having the most thorough and detailed information on him. I usually participate at the Help Desk and get ideas for articles there, which is where I got the idea for the Silver City Daily Press article (a family member of the newspaper owner posted a request at the help desk). Some one posted at the help desk that Alaska had no law school and they claimed that they just created the first one.[1] From that, I discovered and wrote Alaska Common Law School (there was a law school in Alaska, just not an accredited law school, contrary to what most source state) and then wrote Legal education in Alaska (and discovered that there is no law school in Alaska because of an influential 1975 report. Hello, Some vandalist removed all mentions of FLO RIDA song for charity BOOTY ON THE FLOOR he did with Marc Mysterio. Can this edit be reverted as it was highly publicized and well sourced.
