Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:The_L_Word_Season_4_cast.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 14:02, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:ArachneVESA.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:ArachneVESA.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 21:45, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Leeds Town Hall

What happened? Do you believe every word of the article is a copyvio, or just some of it (I can't remember what it looked like). Could you explain, please? Thanks PamD 10:52, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

And why did you delete the Talk page too? There will have to be a new article on Leeds Town Hall (Grade 1 listed building, major work by Cuthbert Brodrick, etc - lots of links pointing to it), and the talk page might include useful discussion for future editors. Please explain. PamD 11:22, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Also, I see that it was nominated as a Good Article in Aug 2006 (failed): it seems unlikely that it was copyvio at that stage. If it was now appropriate to be deleted as Copyvio, there must have been a stage at which good content was blanked and replaced by copyvio - can you access the History to trace this, so that we can reinstate the good version, please? As far as I can see as a non-admin I can't access any past version of the page. Thanks for whatever help you can give on this. PamD 11:40, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply. You have not explained why you deleted the whole page and the Talk page, rather than just the copyvio content - there must have been categories etc which would still be useful, and the discussion in the Talk page. Please provide access to the previous non-copyvio version of the page, so that the work in that can be re-used in reconstructing the page: I've not been involved in an incident like this before so not sure what the normal procedure is, but perhaps copy it to Talk:Leeds Town Hall or a subpage of that? Thanks. PamD 06:55, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

I don't remember too much about him tbh. He most probably had some contentions on the notion of 'place' as this was a field of research I had to work on at the time, but eh... On another note, I notice your hometown doesn't have pictures. Would you be able to take some and add them to Wikicommons, then link them to the Wikipedia page?Zigzig20s 10:09, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Re. Green108

Hi WikiLeon. I have followed your advice and filled in a request for checkuser here. It hasn't appeared on the main checkuser page yet, is that normal or have I missed something?

I'm not sure what it will bring up anything for reasons I outlined in the request although I agree it is worth doing.

Do you think I should also do something more detailed such as a user-conduct Rfc (more than one editor has tried to reason with Green108)? That way I can show the editing and posting similarities between the users. If not, what do you recommend as the next step? Thatcher131 has been the clerk on this case but he is reporting on his talk page that he is maxed-out with work right now so anything I can do to reduce the workload and present the evidence so he doesn't need to trawl through so much article and user history may be worthwhile. What do you think?

Thanks & regards Bksimonb 13:07, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Coconut

Hi,

You added Kyle Ward to the coconut DAB page, but Ward's page does not mention this as an alias nor is there a source for it on the coconut page. Plus, I see it as pretty trivial (i.e. if it's not on his wikpage, it can't be one of his more frequent aliases). Do you think it's sufficiently notable to be included on the DAB page? WLU 18:09, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

I dunno, that reads to me that Kyle Ward was bringing a new artist onto his...label? It's unclear to me from the context. WLU 19:42, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed that you tagged this user as blocked, but when I checked the block log, there was nothing in it. Did you forget to actually do the block? IPSOS (talk) 13:10, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

You sent me a message because my name has bot in it.

I'm not a bot, nor do I plan on using one. Tashabot is my online name. It's a nickname from an old friend. If you do a search for Tashabot all of my stuff comes up. Trust me, I am not a bot.

Thanks!

Thanks for protecting Negima!? That page has been massively vandalized by several IPs for the past eight months or so. I only requested that page to be protected because of that very reason, but you went the extra mile by also protecting the Negima! Magister Negi Magi article too.

BTW, why did you request to protect the Iglesia ni Cristo when you're already an admin yourself? - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 03:12, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Your recent edits

Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 04:42, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Sorry to disturb you with something like this, but you seem to have unprotected List of Naruto episodes (Seasons 3-4). I normally wouldn't question this, but the article had not been protected beforehand. I really don't feel that it's necessary to tag the Contestants section as Original Research. Her feelings about the contestants are stated on air. I don't feel that that section needs references. If so, I'll either just look for those particular episode descriptions from MTV, and hope that it mentions the reason why each is favored or was eliminated, or I'll format references for that section as stated in whichever episode. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Wikimedia in Opera Mini 4.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Wikimedia in Opera Mini 4.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Remember the dot (talk) 04:07, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Tagging Open Source Job Scheduler as ad

Hi WikiLeon - could you please explain, why you did tag Open Source Job Scheduler as advertisement? I'm the maintainer of this sourceforge open source project and I intended the article to be informative by giving facts and by referencing features with respect to the main Job Scheduler article. There is no unfair promise ("this product makes you happy") or promotional style ("best solution ever") given in the article. I have no idea to what offending passage the tagging relates. Could you therefore please advise what should improved in this article?

Andreas Püschel (talk) 20:56, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

  • No Response? I would appreciate your feedback on the above question. However, as I currently cannot follow your tagging due to a missing clarification of the offending passages in this article, I suggest to ask for a Third Opinion should no response be given in the next few days. Andreas Püschel (talk) 21:08, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Yes, the logo is non-free, however, per that same policy (WP:NONFREE) under Images 2., it identifies the organization, Solano Community College (District) as a whole and not just the campus, even if it is the main campus. What should we do about the article on Stanford University then, since its infobox only contains logos? Just a thought. --Geopgeop (T) 18:57, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

It's a clear vio of NonFree, because the logo has already been included in the logo parameter. It's served its purpose at that article. Having multiple copies of it serves no other fair use. So I replaced it with the Hoover tower, because it's one of the college's most known landmarks. --wL<speak·check> 19:40, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Hey, there. Somebody signed onto #wikipedia-en on IRC recently, claiming to be this user, and mentioned they were hoping to invoke their right to vanish, but are unable to do so because their talk page is protected until March. I'm not familiar with the history of this incident, and I know RtV discussions (particularly regarding user talk history) can be controversial, but I was wondering if you might be willing to allow the request, either by removing/shortening the protection currently in place, or by courtesy blanking the user and user talk pages for the time being? I don't have a particularly strong opinion, here, just relaying the request since it seems to be made in good faith. They mentioned that they've emailed you, and that this request is urgent to them for some reason I didn't ask about. – Luna Santin (talk) 09:32, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading Image:Flock icon.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 10:54, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Can you look at this anon's edits? He/she continues to insert untrue data into articles despite the many warnings. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 02:08, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

You claimed "original research is not vandalism" yet {{uw-unsourced4}} says otherwise. Please reply on your talk page. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 02:11, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
I've found that those edits are not original research, but "sneaky vandalism". As this IP has been blocked already 3 times, I've intiated a 6 month soft block on the IP. --wL<speak·check> 02:19, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Right, but what made you change your mind? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 02:24, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
You stated that it was "original research" which may be considered more of a content dispute. By design, AIV does not respond to content disputes, than blatant attempts to screw up the encyclopedia. After looking over the contributions, I found that they are not original research, but straight vandalism. --wL<speak·check> 02:27, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Copernicus

Hi, could you please write some more regarding this [1] ? Who was a sockpuppet and who was banned? Thanks. ≈Tulkolahten≈≈talk≈ 11:27, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Dear Leon: I came here to ask exactly the same question. Your action deleted one of my posts, and I assure you I am not anyone's sockpuppet. Furthermore, since your action, others have been deleting and restoring other people's Talk page posts. If someone has been found to be a sockpuppet of a banned user, how and were was that determination made? Was the sockpuppet banned or blocked? This is a controversy with a VERY long and bitter history; I hope you took that into account. Finell (Talk) 19:36, 26 March 2008 (UTC) (To preserve the continuity of the conversation, I will watch for your reply here on your Talk page.) PS: You have a GREAT-looking User page.

since more than one person has asked me about this, I'll reply here from now on. As I told Tulkolahten, I found that 64.7.140.82 is User:Serafin, based on the edit patterns of both users, as well as location. The IP has been soft-blocked for about 72 hours. Please be aware that this user has a variety of suspected sock accounts, and it's best not to reply, but tag, if you are sure that it is a sock account. Also looking at what you said about removing posts, I felt that if I only deleted that one post, the coninuity would be ruined (as if others would be replying to nothing), so I deleted the entire thread instead. I'll go ahead and restore it with his post commented out with a message of WP:BAN. --wL<speak·check> 22:00, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for explaining; it did not occur to me to look on User_talk:Tulkolahten, although perhaps it should have. In the future, it might be a good idea to explain such an action on the article's Talk page, or at least make the the target clear in your edit summary. Also, your rationale of deleting responses to the banned user when you delete the banned user's post makes sense. I would have had no objection to that if it were explained and the sockpuppet were identified (in the edit summary or elsewhere) as someone other than me.
I am well aware of User:Serafin and his (?) history. I believe that several months ago, one admin was keeping a public list of his suspected sockpuppets and IP addresses. Also, if you are looking for block evasions by Serafin, I suggest that you look at the recent edit history of Nicolaus Copernicus and its Talk page for other Serafin-like behavior. However, please realize that not everyone who asserts that Copernicus was Polish is Serafin in disguise: all major English language reference works attribute Polish nationality to him. Serafin's use of language, on the other hand, does have some identifying charactistics.
Personally, I do not condone the behavior that led to Serafin's ban, nor do I condone block evasion. However, I have taken the position on the Copernicus Talk page that disputants may not remove another's posts because they deem the author to be a banned user—that is anarchy—and another admin backed me up forcefully when I brought the issue to WP:AN/I a few months ago. Thanks for your concern, and I apologize for balaboring this. Finell (Talk) 23:19, 26 March 2008 (UTC) (To preserve the continuity of the conversation, I will watch for your reply here on your Talk page.)
I just requested semi-protection here. Finell (Talk) 23:52, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

User: Clayzer

I appreciate the block on Clayzer, would you mind protecting his talk page as well? His self-awarded barnstars are quite offensive, and other editors have tried to clean up the page, but he reverts. Thanks! Redrocket (talk) 06:38, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

I was about to come here and ask the same thing after reverting the user twice. I find it offensive not just because of the barnstars, but because he/she is trying to claim that other editors awarded them to him/her. I don't believe the user has made a single constructive contribution. Enigma msg 06:52, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Mozilla Firefox first run.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Mozilla Firefox first run.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:14, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

I dunno if this is where I send messages, but how can you tell me I'm sending inappropriate images. Where did I send them too? Which is false! Because I'm pushing Vista Firefox 3.

Please respond thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bebo2good1 (talkcontribs) 03:08, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

ok what of I upload my own Windows Vista version and load it there, or the Windows 2000 version and load it to "Themes".

Unless you are telling me hat those images are directly from Mozilla. Sorry for the Trouble of course. =( —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bebo2good1 (talkcontribs) 03:25, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

I did but someone removed my Windows 2000 version. Plus I replaces the Linux version under themes, sinc I dunno how to creat one box then two. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bebo2good1 (talkcontribs) 03:37, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Template:INChierarchy

A tag has been placed on Template:INChierarchy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

My Firefox 3 on Windows 2000 Removel

Hi leon, someone keeps taken my Firefox toolbar from the Firefox article here, You told me I can load my own, and I did. SO what is the issue now. Please let me know Thanks!

Bebo2good1 (talk) 05:58, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Did you bother reading the "reference" before you removed prod tags? It was submitted by her or an almost verbatim quote from her various sites. That's not intellectually independent by any stretch of the imagination. I'm a sport though, so if you want to claim there are WP:RS to be had based on your status as a "noted wikipedian", then I'll happily give you three weeks to find them before I AfD this piece of junk. I didn't see anything that wasn't trivial or 90% press release, but maybe you'll have better luck. Good Hunting. Horrorshowj (talk) 08:14, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Just to let WikiLeon know that I recreated the Shelly Lubben article with some non-trivial independent sources. I'll keep an eye on it to maintain NPOV, but I can't remember the content of the article before it was speedily deleted. Lubben is controversial but notable so we need to maintain WP:CIVIL in discussing her, Horrorshowj. Vinh1313 (talk) 18:48, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
I undeleted the article. If you know of some reason to keep the history hidden, (such as a privacy violation I didn't see) please selectively delete it. Jon513 (talk) 15:07, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Blacklist

Hi - the help is appreciated. Can you please log any entry you make. The instructions both on the request page & the log page should be pretty clear. In practice in 6 or 12 months time it will be extremely hard to find the rationale behind a BL never mind who made the entry (the page grows rather quickly). If I can help let me know - cheers --Herby talk thyme 11:31, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of List of Christina Aguilera B-sides and unreleased songs

I have nominated List of Christina Aguilera B-sides and unreleased songs, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Christina Aguilera B-sides and unreleased songs. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Can you help me restore KevJumba's page?

I created the page about 1 month ago and other people contributed to the page. However, someone unreasonably deleted the page and blocked people from creating the page. KevJumba's page contains updated references from major newspaper (San Francisco Chronicle) and other independent sources. Other Youtube comedians have their own wiki pages, so why couldn't KevJumba have his page? Can you find the deleted page and restore it? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by V12345c (talkcontribs) 04:04, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Just a note, it wasn't unreasonably deleted. It's failed afd 3 times now. -Djsasso (talk) 14:21, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

You did not even read the page. It contains new sources. It failed last year because it didn't have sources. Now, it has sources so it should not be deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by V12345c (talkcontribs) 15:40, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
