Please Stop!

Hi can you stop deleting my hard work I put in on the wall uk, thanks ButtersWorld (talk) 23:06, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

You've never edited The Wall (British game show). - X201 (talk) 16:14, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

Stop Deleting My hard work!

Hey! Can you please stop deleting my hard work! Thank you! ButtersWorld (talk) 21:03, 30 April 2021 (UTC)

You need to go to the article talk page here, the subject has been discussed both there and at WT:TELEVISION. In short, this kind of detailed information is not wanted by Wikipedia. Take it to a site like Fandom where you can run it yourself and add anything you want, you will always be struggling against Wikipedia policy if you keep trying to add it to Wikipedia (and that goes for all national versions of The Wall and any other gameshow). The article talk page is the best place to discuss it. - X201 (talk) 15:01, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

On short descriptions

Hi! Thank you for editing the "Smoke (Mortal Kombat)" article. Short descriptions have an upper cap of 250 letters. The description which you reverted wasn't even half of that with about a hundred letters. Insofar as your new description goes, it reuses the words "Mortal Kombat" - which already appear in the title - and the franchise is nowadays more than just video games. Hence it is unnecessary to mention the video game part. Please revert or explain??? ToniTurunen (talk) 16:12, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

You changed it 11 minutes after posting this so I'll assume the revert isn't required. As for explain: WP:AGF. I made a mistake, we all do. - X201 (talk) 07:13, 26 May 2021 (UTC)

BBC Three 2003-2016

Hi, I created the page BBC Three (2003 - 2016) (note the spaces in years). BBC Three (2003-2016) (no spaces) was already created, couldn't move, so had to copy and paste it. Joey (TattooedLeprechaun)💬 13:15, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

Ah, sorry. Same channel, three incarnations + alternate spellings. Brain got a bit confused. - X201 (talk) 13:18, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
@TattooedLeprechaun: What's the plan for the talk pages? - X201 (talk) 13:38, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
Just to clarify. I'm looking for the comments where I proposed and supported what you've just done. :) - X201 (talk) 13:42, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
Found it. It was an edit summary, not a talk message. "BBC Three 2022 will be a separate legal entity from this channel. New broadcast license etc. Start a new article and move this one to a dated disambiguated title. Confusing for readers to combine different time periods with a digital only gap in another article. One article per phase is much simpler" - X201 (talk) 13:48, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
"@TattooedLeprechaun: What's the plan for the talk pages? - X201 (talk) 13:38, 28 May 2021 (UTC)"
I can manually edit them if that suits? Joey (TattooedLeprechaun)💬 14:02, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
I moved Talk:BBC_Three_(2003_-_2016) (spaces) to Talk:BBC_Three_(2003-2016) (no spaces). Joey (TattooedLeprechaun)💬 14:05, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
BBC Three (2003-2016) now has the correct talk page. Added the Talk Header to the new BBC Three Talk Page. Joey (TattooedLeprechaun)💬 14:10, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

MOS:COLOUR

Thank you for the corrections on the colour issues – I was under the impression that the colours violated the guideline but I only learnt of the MOS this morning. Are the 2nd and 3rd series colours both compliant of the guideline? – DarkGlow • 14:00, 28 September 2021 (UTC)

@DarkGlow:It's not so much colours violating the guideline as the shade of the colour and whether it is being used with black or white text (or any other colour text for that matter e.g links). I've reverted to get back to the previous colours and will go through all four articles and the main article to check that the colours are within guidelines. Articles with problems usually pop up in the maintenance categories, I'm a bit puzzled why the old colours that weren't complaint didn't show up. Thanks for looking out for this though, my neighbour is partially colour blind and I know it makes the world of difference to have good contrast on text colours. - X201 (talk) 14:09, 28 September 2021 (UTC)
I added the script you use to my commons, which should make it much easier to correct wrong colours when I detect them. I noticed The Only Way Is Essex (series 24) is fairly dark but the script does nothing. Does it comply with the MOS? – DarkGlow • 14:56, 28 September 2021 (UTC)
That is miles away from compliant - and exactly the kind of thing that my neighbour would see as a dark grey box with no writing in it. The reason that the script does nothing is because it's designed to work with the {{Episode table}} template, that episode just uses a normal Wikipedia table instead of the template. Anything that uses the template also shows up in maintenance categories, because the template contains code to spot non-compliant colours. - X201 (talk) 16:10, 28 September 2021 (UTC)

removing of short description

What's the reason short description should be forty characters or less? Was my SD too long? Angela Kate Maureen Pears 08:00, 16 May 2022 (UTC)

The main reason is that short descriptions shown to mobile users get truncated after about 40 characters( e.g. this link will take you to the mobile version of Wikipedia. Scroll to the very bottom, and provided that it shows you the same suggested links, you'll see two of the descriptions truncated). Short descriptions have a double purpose, to indicate what the topic is, but also to help you quickly realise it's not the thing you're looking for when it crops up in a search for something else. Feel free to pop by Wikipedia talk:Short description, we don't bite. And if you fancy helping out, we've still got thousands to fix. - X201 (talk) 19:07, 16 May 2022 (UTC)

@Muhandes: It's OK, there's no need to redo my edit. The colours are contrast compliant. I only edited because the LTA had introduced non-compliant colour contrasts. - X201 (talk) 10:14, 5 September 2022 (UTC)

Need assistance on MOS:COLOR

Hello @X201 I hope you're doing well. I came across your edit on MTV Roadies (season 20) and I'm glad that you updated it. Also can you look and update Pantaxa: Laiya. I will take your advice going forward on my new creations which deals with MOS:COLOR. Thanks for your consideration C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 08:34, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

@C1K98V: Hello, Pantaxa: Laiya is fine. If you ever want to check that any article complies with MOS:COLOR there are two ways of doing it. The templates Infobox television season and Episode table automatically add articles with colour problems to the following categories: Category:Pages using infobox television season with invalid colour combination and Category:Articles using Template:Episode table with invalid colour combination, so you can just check in there for any article you have created, if the article isn't listed then everything is OK.
The other way of checking is if you have set your preferences to show hidden categories (it's in Preferences > Appearance if you want to switch it on). When it's active, all you need to do is scroll to the bottom of the article you are working on and look for the two categories mentioned above in the hidden categories section. If one or both of those categories are there, then you know you have a problem with the colour. - X201 (talk) 14:48, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
@X201 I was not aware about it earlier it's great help. Thanks for the suggestions C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 15:56, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
