Question about the sources

Hi, I am KLPeople, the content i changed in Apple A13 is based on the sources provided below:

Sources[1]

This source is also used in Apple-designed processors part, references no.168.

If you think that this is not a reliable sources, you should remove the changes made on that page provided above too instead of just removing the sources i gave in Apple A13. Thank you.— Preceding unsigned comment added by KLPeople (talkcontribs)

References

  1. ^ "A13 has ARMv8.4, apparently (LLVM project sources, thanks, @Longhorn)". Jonathan Levin, @Morpheus. March 13, 2020.
That source says, "A13 has ARMv8.4, apparently". That isn't enough. However, another editor made this edit and I'm satisfied by that. So, the article has been updated, just with a different source. --Yamla (talk) 17:25, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

Possible sock?

Got nothing concrete, but might be worth checking out User:Sxkc as a sock of User:Zaydx (whose socks include User:ArbaazAli15 and User:Doublz). The account was created 2 days after the latter sock (Doublz) was banned and is editing the same articles in a similar way and has very similar syntax on talk page discussions. Charisma (magazine) cover removal

Hi. I see you removed the cover image for Charisma (magazine) with the comment Remove copyvio image; not used to depict that particular issue but instead, the magazine generally, and this is not permitted by the license and fair-use rationale. Which would be great, except it seems this rule is "observed more in the breach"; for example, I went to Wikipedia:Featured_articles#Magazines and comics and didn't get past the letter A without finding two examples of fair use covers: Archie vs. Predator and Authentic Science Fiction. Is there a way these featured articles have found to have fair use covers in their infoboxes that the Charisma (magazine) article can use? --GRuban (talk) 19:08, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

I don't believe they have found an appropriate way around it. But you are correct, that the rule is observed more in the breach and I won't oppose you if you choose to reintroduce the image. Ideally, you'd add a bit in the article discussing that particular article, justifying the image, but again, I won't oppose you if you reintroduce the image without doing so. :) --Yamla (talk) 19:21, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

Denial of appeal but already copied to AN

Hi, you denied User:Kolya Butternut's appeal here [3]. However by that time User:Wugapodes had already copied it over to AN [4]. I'm not sure why they didn't note that'd done so on Kolya Butternut's talk page, but I guess Wugapodes decision should stand as it happened first although Kolya Butternut seems to be suggesting they want to add on to their appeal and no one has replied at AN, so an alternative is for Kolya Butternut to voluntarily withdraw that appeal and start again. Sockpuppet for User:Visioncurve - My assumption

Hi Yamla, i think this user has created another ID with username User:Esperanto97. This is my assumption as he is acting in the same manner and is posting messages on my talk page. Maybe i am wrong but i see alot of similarities in the contributions from both users: [[5]] [[6]]

This is just my assumption. ThankyouKami2018 (talk) 06:27, 20 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi there. I made simple request to you to stop deleting portions of referenced information from articles. It has nothing to do with other users or your assumptions. You have been reverting referenced information and falsely claiming that those provided sources did not mention them, for instance:
  • 1 - Source clearly mentions his origin as in the article, but you opted to delete it.
  • 2 - Multiple sources provided in support of that information contradicting your assumptions, but you haven't even clicked on them to check
  • 3 - It was a well-sourced information, Karamyan Sevak's article about Armenia from Yearbook of Muslims in Europe, vol.4, whose page 23 clearly states what you wanted to remove from the article claiming that source did not mention this info;
  • 4 - You have deleted referenced information and asked user:Visioncurve to provide you proofs, he did in his talk page with dozens of verifiable sources but you still kept deleting them,
  • 5 - You deleted what you claimed was an unreferenced info and but added your own unsourced and dubious material.

*Moreover you have been warned by other users as well -

So, would you please stop reverting referenced information and write in your edit summary that source does not mention this or that information, misinforming and misguiding other faithful editors. Please. --Esperanto97 (talk) 10:45, 20 May 2020 (UTC)

Please file a report at WP:SPI. Esperanto97, if you are indeed Visioncurve, you'll want to declare it immediately. As a blocked user, this would be a clear violation of WP:SOCK and WP:EVADE. Declaring this immediately would count in your favour, though of course your account will be blocked. Failing to declare this would be one strike against you toward a ban under WP:3X. --Yamla (talk) 12:20, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
I am not a sock puppet. This my only account and I won't declare something that is not true. I admit this is not my PC, it belongs to a public library that is free for everyone. Kami2018 assumed my identity by looking at my contributions alongside that person's as an evidence, though I don't see any resemblance (you can check it yourself). I found Kami2018 and his disruptive edits through recent edits page and checked his contributions where the only thing he did was deleting portions of referenced materials from articles (I hope you will kindly take actions regarding that). Please tell me how can I prove my different identity? --Esperanto97 (talk) 12:42, 20 May 2020 (UTC)

Please stop being rude to people

Full disclosure: I am a long-term reader of Wikipedia and have been an editor under a constantly changing IP address for quite a while too. I'm also a stalker of admin areas and the noticeboards (perhaps that's unhealthy, but anyway, I digress).

I'd like to ask you to please stop being rude to people by telling them to "go away" like you have done multiple times just today. I understand that vandals and trolls can be annoying, especially when they aren't listening, but being rude to them is more than likely just going to make the situation worse. If they refuse to accept advice they've been given politely and just keep on being disruptive, perhaps just ignore them and don't even communicate with them, instead of being rude/insulting them? 2601:187:4581:7F50:C98E:5CF9:DF39:C7B0 (talk) 00:10, 26 May 2020 (UTC)

That particular user is posting racism and sexually explicit content in a widespread manner. They are outright trolling. Allowing them to continue being disruptive is outright harmful. However, I will simply lock down their IP addresses rather than responding further. --Yamla (talk) 10:23, 26 May 2020 (UTC)

I think if you want to keep the sentence "The couple remain married." here, you either need a justification why it is worthwhile to mention it specifically or just delete it altogether, if there is no mention of a divorce one should assume they are still married. Can you tell me who is admin. I want to report Bablos939

Can you help me report racism against Chinese. He first reported me for sockpuppet investigation in the page of yours (User_talk:Yamla) and than made his second report on Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Watersinfalls. So I'm guessing these are importants places to report users of misconduct and bad behaviour.

After analyzing Bablos939 contribution, I couldn't agree more. I take great offense on what appears to be blatant anti-Chinese actions for months. Indeed everything edited by Bablos939 are only related with Chinese women's prostition and Chinese women with non-Chinese men. I don't think it takes it a rocket genius to figure what he is trying to do. His motives are transparent and clear but yet he is allowed to continue with it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Bablos939

I had read some of the heated discussion. I have no idea if this user is Korean or not, but him being a anti-Chinese is a ironclad guaranteed. I also do believe he is the same user as MaoMao4321 seeking justification to futher his agenda. Mz7 wrote this " From what I understand, Maomao123 is so far a single-purpose account that has only participated in the discussion in support of Bablos939. On that basis, I checked Maomao123 and Bablos939, and they are Possible to each other " https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Chinese-proti

More importantly I want to report the racism and anti-Chinese edits. I can't believe that someone like him have been doing anti-Chinese edits for several months without being warned of it.70.77.154.228 (talk) 01:05, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

Raspberry Pi OS Edit

Hi, I was wondering if you could point out what specifically in my edit was a copyright violation.

I'm new to contributing to Wikipedia, so I don't know all the ins and outs. Would be glad if you could point me in the right direction :)

My goal with the edit was to change all instances of 'Raspbian' to 'Raspberry Pi OS' along with the old logo.

The reference I removed was talking about PIXEL, Raspberry Pi OS's former user interface which the paragraph never mentioned.

Other than that I updated some minor information, i.e. kernel version, latest release and where hyperlinks pointed to.

What exactly was copyrighted material?

Thanks, 78.73.99.150 (talk) 12:15, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

You added a copyrighted image to replace a freely licensed image. Additionally, you failed to provide a detailed fair-use justification on the image's page, for the use on the new article. WP:FAIRUSE goes into more detail there. --Yamla (talk) 12:21, 11 June 2020 (UTC)
Thanks, the reason I replaced it was that it was the old logo, used for Raspbian. Now they use the logo I added. Could I resubmit stating this? 78.73.99.150 (talk) 12:38, 11 June 2020 (UTC)
The old logo was freely licensed (at least, according to the image page). So you are free to replace the logo only if you find a freely-licensed version of the image. --Yamla (talk) 12:43, 11 June 2020 (UTC)
Okay, thank you! I will keep the old image and submit the other changes. --78.73.99.150 (talk) 12:47, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

I just said that you should have a little education and answer the question I ask you. Saying that you are not civilized is completely inconsistent.--85.84.33.223 (talk) 21:11, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

I didn't say you were not civilised. I said you weren't civil. It's an easy mistake to make, but these are two words with quite different meanings. If I was saying you weren't civilised, that would be a personal attack. Note that I used a standard template warning at level 1, the lowest level of warning, in your case. You can see this at template:uw-npa1. --Yamla (talk) 21:13, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

This discussion and this question, I make it on the page of the user who reversed the edition as is normal and consistent, since he is the one who has to answer it. On the other hand where they direct me is blocked, both the talk and the edition are blocked. Let's see if we have a little more common sense and coherence, because it is NOT a personal attack to tell him to answer the question.--85.84.33.223 (talk) 21:29, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

Personal attacks, such as "You could have a minimum of education and answer the question or in your case a little responsibility" are not tolerated here. Nor is it your place to put demands on people. I will not respond further. --Yamla (talk) 21:31, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

To educate, as opposed to teaching, is to answer a question that is formulated from a concrete situation of need; it is to be attentive to respond to the aspirations of a specific (educating) subject who expresses himself from specific situations, forms and languages.--85.84.33.223 (talk) 21:36, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

Talk notice

You have accused me of vandalizing Derek Sloan, may you explain why? The picture has extremely low quality to the point where you can not even make out that it is him at all. KamikazeMatrix26Juni (talk) 12:48, 19 June 2020 (UTC)

It's certainly not the best picture, but it was freely licensed and you removed it without explaining why. Additionally, I'm surprised the discussion occurred on a different article talk page, though I see why. Now that you have removed the picture again, I see you included an explanation why. Your explanation is sufficient and appropriate and your removal is therefore good. Thank you for doing so, KamikazeMatrix26Juni. --Yamla (talk) 12:57, 19 June 2020 (UTC)

Homedesigner2016

Regarding your unblock decline: We do have legitimate paid editors here. If they abide by the rules, submit to WP:AFC instead of main space, etc. they can operate on Wikipedia. It is unlikely that someone who is paid to edit Wikipedia could honestly claim to refrain from that as an unblock condition. I'd rather encourage constructive contributions than create situations that encourage sockpuppetry. ~Anachronist (talk) 21:34, 22 June 2020 (UTC)

Okay. In general, do you think that should apply to accounts which have only ever served to promote themselves? Template:Uw-spamublock, frequently used in that case, says "If you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organisation, you may request an unblock." That's frequently held to mean they won't be unblocked if their goal is to continue to promote their business, but if they plan to contribute generally, they may be able to follow the AFC process in the future. --Yamla (talk) 21:42, 22 June 2020 (UTC)
In general, no. In this case, my impression was that the edits weren't to promote a particular business but to edit articles for clients. That user has a pretty diverse editing history in the deleted contributions, and not much that can be linked to a business called "Homedesigner". Speaking as the blocking admin, if s/he is willing to come clean about paid editing and disclose the clients, I wouldn't oppose an unblock. ~Anachronist (talk) 22:24, 22 June 2020 (UTC)

fyi

You might be interested in this, I'm not comfortable as a non-admin reverting them but they're now edit warring with an admin to remove declined unblock requests...Praxidicae (talk) 13:54, 25 June 2020 (UTC)

In that particular case, though definitely not in general, I'm fine with them removing my declined unblock request. My decline isn't particularly relevant to any future unblock request. We tell users not to remove declined unblock requests because it's relevant to admins reviewing future requests. So, in this case, I think while they are violating the policy, they aren't violating the spirit of the policy. --Yamla (talk) 13:56, 25 June 2020 (UTC)

UTRS 31527 Skiyomi

Greetings from UTRS land. Skiyomi requests unblock on UTRS 31527. Is this a check user block? Needs WP:AN as a CBAN. Is there anything you would like to add at the discussion? Skiyomi is globally locked, so on-wiki discussion infeasible. I see your block is quite recent. Need your input before even considering the AN appeal. Would you be able to take a look? WOuld you like me to copy his request to his talk? Has not edited here since 2018 due to global lock? Thanks. --Deepfriedokra (talk) 18:55, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

The block on Skiyomi is not a check-user block (I don't have checkuser access). Note however that Elianna Sei is a checkuser block, blocked by Jpgordon and then talk page access was revoked by me. I understand Skiyomi has admitted that account belongs to them. Given that this user was evading their block to continue posting sexually explicit material just last month, I'd very strongly oppose an unblock at this time. Frankly, I'd very strongly oppose an unblock ever, as this user deliberately trolls by posting sexually explicit material and then feigns surprise when this is revoked. As always, you are free to act as you see fit and I'll certainly participate in an WP:AN discussion if one occurs. :) --Yamla (talk) 19:01, 26 June 2020 (UTC)
No, this is what I needed. If block evaded last month, straight up decline. I think that's one he claimed at UTRS. According to the the SPI report ( I think) can be very persuasive. I'll have a look at Elianna Sei. Thanks, --Deepfriedokra (talk) 19:05, 26 June 2020 (UTC)
Sounds good. Thanks for contacting me. :) --Yamla (talk) 19:07, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

You not only did not help you made it worse in my Talk Page

You claimed I was violating a 3-day suspension for following up on a Talk Page and that's not editing. The user TruthGuardian was reverting my edits without explanation. Do you care about those violations? Isn't helping edit what editors do? Bananasasas (talk) 03:43, 27 June 2020 (UTC)

It's time to drop the stick. You have a topic ban, time to start abiding by it. --Yamla (talk) 11:05, 27 June 2020 (UTC)

My issue is why you wouldn't explain your unfriendly actions here. I could care less about an unfair 3-day suspension ending. I've lost interest in helping here while I see unfairness and hall monitor personalities. You refuse to explain what you were enforcing and why as I did ZERO editing after the topic ban. Is commenting on a Talk Page considered editing? YES or NO? If No, you had no place to claim I was violating a topic ban for responding on a Talk Page. It can also be argued the page is not the same topic. You ignored the fact that my edits were properly sourced and not controversial. ++++ There was no reason to topic ban someone unless there is an agenda to silence them or thwart the information they researched. Bananasasas (talk) 01:26, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

While I'm not Yamla I can say however that you are being very aggressive for such a minor thing on Wikipedia, I would understand you getting mad if there was a significant amount of misinformation, but you got a topic ban for editing Michael Jackson disruptively, you never edited any other page unrelated to Michael Jackson. You proceeded to harass an editor for reverting a misquote and having misinformation about when he started blogging. The point I'm trying to make is you are creating giant arguments over the tiniest of things that probably nobody cares about. I don't care if he was the youngest ever blogger on Huffington post or if he was 23 when he started. In regards to the talk page edit not being considered an edit then why is the button on the top right called edit source? TurboSonic (talk) 05:06, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

(talk page watcher) @Bananasasas: Generally, a topic ban means not editing at all about a subject- including talk pages. And the purpose of any editing restriction, including a topic ban, is to stop disruption. --Deepfriedokra (talk) 05:15, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

@Bananasasas: You are topic-banned from making edits related to Michael Jackson for 6 months from June 17. That includes talk pages and user talk pages. --Deepfriedokra (talk) 05:20, 28 June 2020 (UTC)
I very clearly and directly pointed to the edits you made that violated your topic ban in this edit here. Note that I said, "you subsequently proceeded to violate that topic ban five times" and pointed you to the exact five edits you made that were in violation of the topic ban. --Yamla (talk) 11:10, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

Please take a look at this blocked editor's (Aristiderazu's) talk page access

He was blocked in March 2018 by JBW and you declined a subsequent unblock request but they just posted 1.4MILLION bytes of...I don't know but looks like he's using his talk page to host content, see their user talk page history. Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 21:55, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

Thanks, already warned by another admin. --Yamla (talk) 22:30, 28 June 2020 (UTC)
Yeah I saw that. Sorry about the notifications to more than one admin's user talk - I didn't know where to report it and posted to admins who had edited that user's talk page. Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 00:44, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

How do they allow dictators like you?

Don't take it as an insult, you are. Someone who blocks for a week over mere 2 reverts like I made a hundred reverts deserves to be called a dictator. You act like I wouldn't have stopped (which I already did). A simple final warning or I'll be blocked by you soon would have been sufficient, which you should have tried instead of just blocking would have been enough. I even showed you that I didn't consider two reverts as anything serious at all. And in actual they aren't. I wouldn't have even done the reverts if Greatkhaliwarriors wasn't capable of reconciling with the fact that their edit is wrong and they did listen eventually. But after I got reverted again, I understood it won't work. So how does it feel to be abusing power and beating someone to near death over a lost penny (that's what your block was like)? LéKashmiriSocialiste (talk) 22:46, 2 July 2020 (UTC)

I will not respond to your personal attacks. Do not message me again. --Yamla (talk) 22:56, 2 July 2020 (UTC)

IP user back after your "no nazis" block

Hi Yamla, you blocked 2A02:1811:8415:CA00:0:0:0:0/64 per WP:NONAZIS. It looks like the same person is back again, since about three weeks ago. I guess technically they're not blocked or banned, but after this: [8] I think they should be... is it possible to ban an IP user? I'd like to revert their recent edits, even the good ones, as I would with a sock, but I guess there's no policy under which I could do that.

The edits have the same focus on immigrant groups in Belgium and other parts of Europe, particularly African Muslims. I don't see anything as blatant as before, but there's this: [9] and this: [10] - they had previously added "salafism" to many articles like this: [11].

Other signs are continued edit-warring over the "minorities" infobox in Antwerp (though they're not actually wrong): [12], [13], [14], [15] and other old habits like disruptively changing "China" to "Mainland China": [16], [17], many edits about "sister cities" [18], [19], [20], etc. Maybe you could take a look? Thanks... --IamNotU (talk) 22:39, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

Yeap. Blocked for three months. --Yamla (talk) 00:32, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
Thanks! --IamNotU (talk) 02:08, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

Regarding your IP block, I'm guessing 2603:9000:6504:12BD:0:0:0:0/64 will be more effective, but let's see what happens. -- RoySmith (talk) 17:14, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

Excellent, thanks. I'm still not great at calculating range blocks on IPv6 addresses. --Yamla (talk) 17:18, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
Yamla, With IPv6, it's common for ISPs to allocate static addresses in /64 chunks, even to residential customers. So that's always a good initial guess. IPv4 is actually a lot more complicated. Since the v4 address space is so much more constrained, ISPs try to squeeze every last bit out of it they can, and network allocations are on all sorts of crazy boundaries. -- RoySmith (talk) 17:30, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

Dealing with COI and highly possible cavassing on an AfD

I noticed you've been doing some COI-related work related to Derek Sloan. At this AfD, there appears to be highly likely canvassing by the organization. How should I and the other participants handle this? Username6892 02:58, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

Yeah, it's a big problem in relation to Derek Sloan. In general, WP:COI gives some pointers. Specifically, there's the noticeboard, WP:COIN, which can be used to flag problematic editors. Additionally, if people are voting in an AfD and they have few or no edits outside of the AfD, you can flag them. WP:SPA has the details. AfD's aren't a democratic vote; the person closing the AfD should notice any votes tagged with SPA warnings and largely discount their positions. --Yamla (talk) 14:27, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

Elizabeth holmes fraud issue

Hello Yalma,

I'm new to editing Wikipedia and was wondering why you reverted changes to the intro sentences that added she committed fraud. In my opinion, the first sentence in a Wikipedia article should state the most crucial, known facts about a person and in Elizabeth's case this isn't just that she was a businesswoman, but also that she committed what was called "massive fraud".

Best wishes — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2003:EE:C70D:5B00:49B5:9A23:9E8:4B8E (talk) 14:35, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

Because of WP:BLP. In order to state that she committed fraud, you need a reliable citation (WP:RS and WP:CITE) showing she has been convicted of committing fraud. We have to be very, very careful around biographies of living people. As she has not yet to my knowledge been convicted, only indicted. That means we must not call her a fraudster. --Yamla (talk) 14:43, 6 July 2020 (UTC)
