Blocking an IP user whose IP address continually changes?[edit]

Is there any way for an IP user to be blocked if their IP address continually changes? An IP user with a non-static IP address has been making disruptive edits to one particular article for over a month now. I've tried requesting for the page to be semi-protected but my request was denied on the grounds that there was not a sufficient enough amount of disruptive editing to justify protection. This IP user has also been making similar disruptive edits to other pages, so I was wondering if there was a way to block them? JayJ47 (talk) 02:29, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

When I look for disruptive editing, I'm looking for edit summaries that link to WP:BRD, invite to article talk, etc. I don't see any of that in that article, which leaves the possibility that the user is simply clueless about correct editing process. We all start out that way, and new editors generally don't learn about things like BRD until someone points them out, either in editsums or on their user talk page. I would at least establish a history of that; if the user ignores hostility-free attempts to educate them, you could consider going to AN/I with an article link and a list of IP addresses. And, of course, it's important to be sure your own house is in order regarding editing process. ―Mandruss ☎ 02:51, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Burcuozkutan. Thank you for coming here and asking, rather than just going ahead and making edits. Wikipedia is keen that the information in its articles is correct and up to date - but it is even more keen that articles are based on reliable published information, and almost all based on what other people have written about a subject. If you represent Karsan, then you have a conflict of interest, in that it may be difficult for you to write in a suitably neutral way. The best thing for you to do is to start a new section on Talk:Karsan, detailing exactly what changes you would like to see made in the article, with citations to reliable published sources (and as far as possible, to source unconnected with Karsan or yourselves, such as major newspapers). Then, because that article has not many watchers, I suggest you add {{edit request}} to the new section of the talk page; and an independent editor will come along in a bit and decide how far to implement your suggestions. "EUCXBOG" file extensions[edit]

My all file types has been changed to EUCXBOG and all file extension is showing with this Ex. .doc.eucxbog. I am troubling with this and getting the error the file has been corrected. Delhi Ganesh[edit]

Hi,

This is regarding an update on the page of Tamil actor Delhi Ganesh on page "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delhi_Ganesh". On his previous career before movies, he had worked with the Indian Air Force. I know this personally as he was my father's collegue in IAF and also have a photto support the same.

Hello, Dayal, and thanks for the suggestion. I'm afraid that personal knowledge is not enough for Wikipedia articles, especially about living people. If you have a published source for this, you are welcome to add it to the article, or to suggest on the talk page Talk:Delhi Ganesh that it be added. Uncontroversial_technical_requests - Moving a page in Wikipedia German version[edit]

Hello Wikipedia We represent the artist S. Meller who has an article under her name in the Deutsch version of Wikipedia. Her name is currently spelled wrong. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sivan_Meller We would like to submit an uncontroversial technical request to move the page and change the title. But we cannot find how to do so because the site is all written in German. How do we use the subst:Requested move command in the German version?

@ISOCIA: This is a help page for the English Wikipedia and {{Requested move}} is a template for us with no German equivalent under "Languages" in the left pane. The German Wikipedia operates independently and you have to contact them. I couldn't find anything about placing a move request at the cited help page. However, if User:ISOCIA would be so kind as to tell us exactly which name the article should have, I could ask the German Wikipedia how to make a request, or even move the page myself. (edit conflict) You only need to understand about three words of German to make the move – I could even do it myself. But I don't know the de:WP policy on naming articles, and I certainly don't know enough German to find and understand the relevant policy page. As I wrote above, the simplest way is probably to go directly to de:Talk:Sivan Meller and put the request there. Hopefully some people watch the page and at least some of them understand English. I undid their initial request made here. Based on that, I assume that they want to replace the full first name with just the initial "S." I don't know whether German policies require that "S." be more commonly used in reliable sources than "Sivan" or not. Interesting to see that the German Wikipedia has what appears to be a more primitive mechanism for requesting moves. I just posted a cross-link to here on the German talk page, and noticed that the name in the article lead is Petite Syvan Meller – spelled with a "y" rather than an "i". And that some of the reference sources linked to from the German article are actually in English, and from those the common name seems to be Petite Meller. arranging tables in a tabular arrangement[edit]

I've added <div> items 80px high to cells to align tables:

You'll probably need to add align attributes to cells ('valign' attribute or 'vertical-align' style property) to push Schläfli symbols down. Help:Cite errors David Wetzel30 Problem with Templates[edit]

Bad news: a) I can’t change my title there is another DW, so I want to call mine DW—Historian; b) I don’t know how to add reference the citations. All are web based—and here I am a complete neophyte. I think the 404s were because there were 2 URLS concatenated together, as in the original question above.

Why was vixx filmography deleted?[edit]

Hi,

It wasn't a post created by me but it was a very useful post to me (and I know a lot of other starlights). It takes a long time to compile a whole list of everything a group has been on. It isn't anywhere else. I made an edit to it. A lot of people have contributed to that post and I don't know why it has been deleted. Is there any way to get it back? Or just get the information from it?

Edits to Gus Gordon page[edit]

Hi, my name is Gus Gordon. I was recently left a message by a Wikipedia editor regarding an article about me on Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gus_Gordon). The message was in relation to citations and editing my own article. As I have previously explained to another Wikipedia editor, some years ago a friend informed me that a Wikipedia page about me (now since deleted) had been published by someone on Wikipedia. This page was so inaccurate that I decided to start a new page. I now realise I should not have done so as, apart from anything, it violates Wikipedia's policies of self promotion etc. I only intended to correct a badly researched article/page and, to be honest, I would rather I wasn't listed at all on Wikipedia than have this previous article defining my name.

Now I see that a Wikipedia editor has placed an 'issue' notice on the article which reads:

'This article is an autobiography or has been extensively edited by the subject or an institution related to the subject. It may need editing to conform to Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy. There may be relevant discussion on the talk page. (February 2015)'

Obviously this is quite embarrassing. Especially knowing that those who read my books could read it. I have no intention of editing the article again. I was hoping to have either the issue notice removed or the page deleted entirely. I'd much prefer the page was removed than have the issue notice read by all. It is not the kind of 'promotion' I need. What do I need to do in this situation?

@Gusillustrator: The notice is there to get other editors to review the article for tone and content. If it's written neutrally, then an independent editor should take the tag down. If it's not, they should correct it and then remove the tag. I don't have time right this minute, or I'd take a look at it myself. —C.Fred (talk) 22:31, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
