I want to add an iinformation[edit]

I just want to add the information about a dargah in tamilnadu which I cannot see in wikipdeia how should I save the information please help me regarding this — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fazil.razvi (talkcontribs) 00:26, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Fazil.razvi. Before trying to create an article, please be sure that the subject is notable. This normally means that multiple independent published reliable sources have written about the subject in some detail. If this is not treu, there cannot be an article about the subject. If it is true, then i advise using the article wizard to create a draft and, when you think it is ready, submit it to the Articles for Creation project. If you do that, an experienced editor will review the draft and tell you what it still needs to be accepted, and there is much less chance of the draft being deleted quickly. Also, please read Your First Article, REferencing for Beginners, and Wikipedia's Golden Rule. DES (talk) 02:15, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Help:Cite errors/Cite error ref no input[edit]

The page, "Dangerous Edge: A life of Graham Greene," incorrectly links the director credit to 19th century journalist, T.P.(Power) O'Connor. The correct person, Thomas P.(Patrick) O'Connor, directed, wrote and produced the film. See IMDB reference - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2691336/. Can some kind soul please fix - I seem incapable of doing so. Emmet1911 (talk) 01:02, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Two Wiki Accounts to One[edit]

Question: Could two Wikipedia user accounts be merged into one? — Preceding unsigned comment added by FireFish (talkcontribs) 03:31, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@FireFish: At one time there was plans for developing a global merge feature. Unfortunately, according to the notice on Meta and this phabracator thread the global merge tool was unreliable for a large number of accounts and has been abandoned. So at this point in time, there is no way to merge accounts. You can however, abandon one and place a link to the old account's user page on your new account's user page. Please note, that if you do this you should stop using the old account permanently. Using multiple accounts at the same time is considered sockpuppetry and can result in blocks all around. --Majora (talk) 03:52, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Not completely accurate. Using two accounts is permitted (for example a second account for mobile use). What is not permitted is the use of a second account for inappropriate purposes such as block evasion or edit-warring.--ukexpat (talk) 15:06, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ukexpat is quite correct. if you do continue to use both accounts in legitimate ways, please place a link on the user page of each account to the other, along with a statement that both accounts are held by the same person. And of course, FireFish you should never use both accounts in the same discussion so as to make it appear that several people are supporting the same view, nor to evade a block, or otherwise to pretend to be multiple people. World History Error[edit]

I found some problems across several articles and which I described on a talk page of one of the articles (here). There has been no activity on this talk page in over six years. Is there another way to document this that may have a better chance of being noticed by someone with knowledge of British/Indian/Pakistani military history? MB (talk) 05:40, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yep - I would start a discussion on the talk page of WikiProject Military History where you're highly likely to find editors with some knowledge. CaptRik (talk) 07:35, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Replacing resources broken links[edit]

Hello there,

I found a broken link in resources page and found an amazing alternative for that link which is the same subject and offers a lot of informative content. Can I replace the broken link with a the informative link of the new page? Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yassinepro946 (talkcontribs) 10:58, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Article on one or two charities[edit]

How do I nominate a page for deletion? A page has been created for a non-profit charity confusing information and dubious citations for two different organizations with similar names. If one searches in wiki for one organization the user is taken to a single page with both organizations' names tied together, so there is no way to edit for accuracy. This page is highly defamatory to the existing charity and accuses it of ties to terrorism which are patently false. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KariAnsari (talkcontribs) 13:00, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you told us the name of the article, it would be easier to give advice. But if it contains errors, they should be corrected. The presence of errors does not justify deletion. Maproom (talk) 13:21, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Boxes around text[edit]

Boxes are coming up around text when I am trying to edit in a sandbox. What is the correct format so no boxes appear. It starts in the mechanism section and continues after. Here is the link to the sandbox

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Mr.green2911/sandbox — Preceding unsigned comment added by MecciaC0410 (talkcontribs) 13:30, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It's because you appear to be starting new paragraphs with several blank spaces or tab indents. I just deleted those of the first paragraph, and it "escaped the box." If you want to indent the beginning of a paragraph, use one or more colons (:) just as I have done with this answer. This is just a standard feature of the wiki markup coding. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 185.74.232.130 (talk) 13:48, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

(edit conflict) (times two!) I believe this is happening because you (or someone) has indented the text. I.e put blank spaces between the text and the edge of the edit window so that

this happens

If you wish to start a new paragraph leave a blank line after the end of the previous one and start at the left of the window . Eagleash (talk) 13:50, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Advanced Searches[edit]

Hello there,

I'm trying to do a Wikipedia search but rather than search entire Wikipedia articles, I want to narrow down my search to just lead paragraphs of Wikipedia articles.

There must be a way of searching for information contained in either: (a) the first paragraph of Wikipedia articles only; or (b) all paragraphs that precede the first section heading.

I've always wanted to do this but never known how to precede.

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

Regards,

Standingfish (talk) 13:44, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • That's* really advanced. I wouldn't expect the standard queries to allow that, and insource searching treats == which would be the beginning of a section as "gray space". Maybe something through Quarry (http://quarry.wmflabs.org/), but I'm not the actual article text is available there.Naraht (talk) 16:00, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

How to return/reply comments to the reviewer[edit]

Hello there, - are you able to assist please (for a new user) how to return/reply to the article reviewer. A video tutorial or an idiots step by step guidance process would be appreciated.

Your faithfully Charles Dobson (CD0060576 (talk) 15:11, 31 March 2016 (UTC))[reply]

If you look in the feedback box at the top of User:CD0060576/sandbox it has the name of the reviewer, followed by ( talk ). If you click on the word "talk" there, it will take you to the reviewer's user talk page, and at the top of that the "new section" option allows you to start a new topic. --David Biddulph (talk) 15:17, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Famous sites[edit]

What would be the most two famous landmarks I would want to go see in my country — Preceding unsigned comment added by Honeydoswoman (talkcontribs) 15:28, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Honeydoswoman: This isn't the type of question that we answer on the Help Desk. The Help Desk is for answering questions about how to edit Wikipedia. The Reference Desk answers factual questions about everything else. So, they may be able to give you a list of famous landmarks in your country. But you'll have to tell them what country you're talking about. Dismas|(talk) 16:04, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User:Lupin/popups.js[edit]

Freedom of speech portal icon[edit]

Icon

Is this icon still appropriate, since it refers to a controversy that is many years old now and is hard to recognize? --Laber□T 20:15, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting point Laber□. To reach editors interested in this topic area maybe Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Freedom of speech would be the place to set out your case. Alternatively, if you can locate what you consider a more suitable image that is free to use here (see Wikipedia:Image use policy#Selecting images for uploading), you could BOLDly substitute it yourself, use the talk page to explain, and await reaction: Noyster (talk), 10:13, 1 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

April Fools[edit]

Are you allowed to pull pranks on april fools day here?— Preceding unsigned comment added by ChewedPerfect (talkcontribs)

generalized whitehead product[edit]

This is about my article with the above title which has just appeared. In one stage in the reviewing process the Reviewer claimed plagiarism and the article and my user page was deleted. The reviewer then said it was a mistake And the article subsequently appeared. But now I cannot log in because "there is no user page for my password" or "No active log attempt is in progress for your session". When I try to create an account I am told my password is "already in use". This a catch 22 situation. Please advise or tell my whom to contact. Thank you. 72.200.122.39 (talk) 23:36, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I guess you are User:Ark of Wits. Your user page has never existed and I see no sign any page you have edited has been deleted. It's optional for users to create a user page. Users can log in whether or not they have a user page. Your quoted error messages sound wrong to me. Please try to log in with Ark of Wits as username. Your post sounds like you think Ark of Wits is the password. If the login fails then quote the exact error message. If you are unsure of the password then you can use Special:PasswordReset.
