August 4[edit]

2 things please - Can the file of Glen Affric Estate be made a little bit bigger ?

and

There is a red word at the end of the article - it has no page. Should it be changed to black writing? Srbernadette (talk) 02:03, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Red word — do you mean the phrase "remote Alltbeithe"? If so, see our guideline on red links. Whether or not this is good depends on the topic: is Alltbeithe likely to pass our inclusion standards, i.e. is it likely to qualify for an article? If so, we should leave the link there, but if not, it should be changed to black. Nyttend (talk) 02:37, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Reference error[edit]

Can anyone imagine why my sandbox is in Category:Pages with reference errors? All the reference errors I remember display big red warnings at the site of the error, and I don't see any such warnings on this page. Nyttend (talk) 02:35, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Nyttend: The red error message are disabled in user space, but you can see the error message if you view the HTML source of the page and look for "Cite error". Each of the calls to {{NRHP header}} is trying to define a reference named "nris". The "Bath" subpage has |NRISref=2009a while the others have |NRISref=2008b, so you have two different definitions of the same reference. -- John of Reading (talk) 04:40, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the pointer; I had no idea that they were disabled in userspace. This is temporary content (I'm using it to get a {{GeoGroupTemplate}} map for a photo-taking trip), so I'll revert it soon. Nyttend (talk) 04:43, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The below in your CSS will enable cite errors in all namespaces. PrimeHunter (talk) 08:21, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Confirming my email address[edit]

I received an email asking me to confirm my email address (to log in to Wikipedia) with an attached link to do so. This link will not open. So how else do I confirm my email address? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mmayer1 (talkcontribs) 06:36, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Advice is available at Help:Email confirmation. --David Biddulph (talk) 06:45, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi,Mmayer1. The above doesn't really address your specific problem since it only is designed to: "help to prevent problems with bad addresses or spam." It seems you received the email just fine, but the link provided within will not allow you to access. Is this correct? Some email / server browsers have a link protection set up so that you do not accidentally click on a virus. Most of the time the browser will ask you to "enable link". Have you ever had to do this before? Thinking this might be the case. Maineartists (talk) 12:00, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure that the OP idsn't suffering from the problem of an email program dividing the confirmation link into two lines? --David Biddulph (talk) 12:43, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

2018 Major League Baseball season article[edit]

Can you move the 2018 Major League Baseball season article from the talk page to the Draft page please I would except it. 2600:8803:7A00:976A:FCF9:4B51:656D:3070 (talk) 15:54, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have moved this to the draftspace, and I would encourage you to create drafts in the draftspace in the future . Please also read the welcome message I've left at your talk page.  Seagull123  Φ  18:38, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

As a side note to other editors, what should be done about Talk:2018 Major League Baseball season now? Is it an appropriate redirect? R2 doesn't apply here as it's a talk page.  Seagull123  Φ  18:43, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Seagull123: I think {{db-talk}} applies. -- John of Reading (talk) 20:01, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@John of Reading: thanks!  Seagull123  Φ  15:12, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

question[edit]

hi, I moved this [1] however when I click sandbox it goes to the 'redirect page' instead of 'new page'?--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 18:18, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You left a redirect in the page when you moved it. I have gotten rid of that text with the most recent edit to your sandbox.Naraht (talk) 18:26, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
thank you--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 18:28, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone know how the fix the dash formatting to comply with WP:NDASH? I'm not sure how to.--Nevéselbert 19:42, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Neve-selbert: Did this fix it? (using: Advisor.js)  Seagull123  Φ  19:46, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ah no, @Seagull123: I meant replacing the with {{snd}}.--Nevéselbert 19:48, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oh ok then, have you managed to fix it?  Seagull123  Φ  15:12, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yup  Done.--Nevéselbert 18:52, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Counting the number of rows on a table[edit]

Is there any way to do this without having to manually count them? I have tried looking for a solution without much luck.--Nevéselbert 19:46, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

See Help:Table#Autonumbering and Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)/Archive 154#Autonumbering in tables. StarryGrandma (talk) 19:56, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

links/citations[edit]

I am trying to set up a page and link it to the pages I'm already included on Wikipedia.

A general search does not bring up my name but I am name-checked in at least two places here - Saxon (Film) and Friday Night Dinner. How do I link these to my page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paul1McNeilly (talkcontribs) 21:13, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I assume that you are asking about Draft:Paul McNeilly. Links should not be made until the draft is reviewed and published. If this happens, then you simply put "Paul McNeilly" in square brackets (like this: [[Paul McNeilly]]) in the articles that you want to link. Please read WP:Autobiography and WP:Biographies of living persons. At present, the draft contains no references whatsoever, so has no chance of being published. You need to find independent reliable sources in which you have been written about in detail, and cite these appropriately. Even if the article about you is published, it will never be "your article", and may eventually contain information about you that you might prefer not to be published. See WP:Referencing for beginners for details of how to add citations. There is some more advice on your talk page. Dbfirs 21:59, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I see that you have added some more links to the draft, but still not a single citation. I assume that you are looking for these. If you don't find independent reliable sources, then the draft will never be published. Dbfirs 14:41, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
