request to have another writer create an article

My father has a long and distinguished career in association management in the insurance field. There is no entry for him at wikipedia and as his daughter I do not qualify to write it. How can I ask another person to create an entry for him?

It is extremely unlikely that your father, however distinguished he was in his specialty, would qualify as notable enough to justify an encyclopedia article about him. His profession is one which does not attract the attention of the press or other general media, nor is it written about or researched by the scholarly community. Unless he had a key role in the theoretical literature of his profession, with scholarly articles in business journals and the like, he is not going to qualify. --Orange Mike | Talk 02:28, 16 July 2017 (UTC)

Adding Film Poster; Resolving Page Issues

Greetings. I very recently created a page for a film I produced and directed, but when I attempted to add a poster, I was told that it could only be performed by Autoconfirmed users, Administrators, Confirmed users. I was planning to wait until I became a confirmed user to ad the poster, but almost within minutes, the page was apparently reviewed and was given two warnings. The first said: "This article contains content that is written like an advertisement." I removed self-references, other than the fact that I was the writer, producer and director of the film. I now hope that it is no more an advertisement or self-promotion than any other film included in wikipedia, otherwise isn't every film listed in wikipedia an advertisement? Please help me make further changes, if necessary. The second warning said: "The topic of this article may not meet Wikipedia's general notability guideline." To meet this objection, I added a feature article from The Akron Beacon Journal, which is Akron, Ohio's major newspaper. Akron, Ohio, is a major city and cultural center in the United States, and has given the world may great actors, film directors and musicians. See wikipedia entry: List of people from Akron, Ohio. Beyond that, however, the film is represented on both IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes, and appropriate links were given to each. Six other links (not including The Beacon Journal, above) were added from non-related film critics from the United States and Canada over whom I have no authority or control. Following the link to each of these sources will show sustained and ongoing engagement in the business of film reviewing, not a one-off review for this particular film. While these factors together may not meet notability guidelines for India, Nigeria, China, Japan, United Kingdom or France, where the film has not been exhibited or reviewed, is it reasonable to say that they do not meet notability guidelines for the United States, the third largest largest film producer in the world? See wikipedia entry: Film industry. In other words, is global notability the standard for wikipedia inclusion? The name of the film and wikipedia entry is: "Gimme Head: the Tale of the Cuyahoga Valley Bigfoot." Can the warnings please be removed? "Ramaswamy S"- The page is categorized. Yet, the page shows that it doesn't belong to any category

The page "Ramaswamy S" on Wikipedia is categorized, yet the page shows it is uncategorized. The link to the page is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramaswamy_S. Also, the article is not appearing in search results of search engines. Please, can the administrator revert back with the necessary changes required (if any). Square thumb

Take a look at the entry under Size at Wikipedia:Extended image syntax, but I'm having trouble imagining a context where this would be desirable. I wonder if a better option would be to crop the image in question, then upload the cropped version. What image and article are we talking about here? Rivertorch^FIRE_WATER 07:39, 16 July 2017 (UTC)

Why do the bots revert every edit I make?

So far the edits I've made are correcting the links to people's twitter accounts (namely Leffen and ZeRo), and those edits have been reverted by the bots. Only one reverted to my edit when someone intervened. How do I prevent this for future edits?

I looked into this further and found out that it was XLinkBot behind this. To answer the question of 'Roxy the Dog', the edits (which were fixing broken links) were made in 2015, and the one that was kept is the only one that appeared on my contributions list, as the other one was reverted by 'XLinkBot' and therefore did not appear on the list.

My apologies for not clarifying the category of my edits.

But please make sure to read WP:COI first, as well as WP:GNG and WP:NMOVIE. The help desk here is primarily for questions about "how to use or edit Wikipedia". English Wikipedia's most popular articles...by country (Question from WP:THQ, where it's been ignored)

Is there a page where I can see the most often visited pages on the English Wikipedia by users with IPs originating in the Philippines? I want to post translations for pages which have the most demand for them by Filipinos for the Tagalog Wikipedia. I've posted translations of the leads of a view pages, such as w:tl:Kabalintunaang Fermi (Fermi paradox), but I'm not sure that pages like this, while interesting to me and probably some Filipinos, are the best use of resources. Editing the title of the Wiki Article

Hello, Can you please advise if there is a possibility of amending the title of the existing Wiki article. and if there is one, how you can do it. I have been commissioned to work on an article describing a company and my client would like to remove the references to the legal status of his business in favour of just the business name.

Two points. First you should read WP:PAID and WP:COI guidelines, Wikipedia greatly discourages direct editing of articles by people who work for or are paid by the subject of the article. Also, I presume that you are indicating that the article title change is something like going from Green Lumpy Bears, Inc. or Green Lumpy Bears, LLC to Green Lumpy Bears. That probably won't be a problem. Please post here what the article is and someone will take a look at the move. The general guidelines on that are at WP:MOVE.

Prompt reply: Which Wikipedia article is the OP referring too? Wall plug, Rawlplug Ltd.?!! As a paid professional 'he' should be the one reading through our policies, and work this out himself rather than depending on unpaid volunteers to do it for him. Also, can he explain his client's request for a name change. A change from what name ... to what name? We are many things but we are not psychic. Aspro (talk) 20:28, 16 July 2017 (UTC)

To add, Jowita ch: the principle that Wikipedia is not particularly interested in how a subject wishes to be presented extends even to its name. If the bulk of the independent reliable sources refer to the subject by a particular name, then that is what the article should be named. Any other names in use (possibly including a legal or official name) should appear in the article, and may be set up as redirects to the article; but the primary title of the article should be according to the sources. --ColinFine (talk) 23:58, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
