October 5[edit]

Lydia Mercedes Silvestry[edit]

Almost 10 years ago my information was published at Wikipedia. It was done by my approval and I recently looked for it and never found it. Could you kindly let me know where is it? How can it go back into your files? I am a world recognized fashion designer and have worked in Europe and the USA since 1976. I suffered 7 years of severe illness and now coming back to the living find I have been removed from your files.

Please help.

Thank you kindly,

Lydia Silvestry — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:58C:407F:F634:813:5216:BE4C:F84D (talk) 01:21, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi IP User, all I can find is a deleted page here Lydia Silvestry. It was deleted back in July 2014 by Ronhjones as there was No assertion of notability. An admin user maybe able to tell you more than that. NZFC(talk) 01:27, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm. This was a proposed deletion, which deletes the article if no one removes the deletion proposal in seven days. Articles that were deleted in this way can be restored by a request at Requests for Undeletion. However, since the record says that there was no assertion of notability, it is likely to be nominated for deletion if it is restored. Also, the unregistered editor should read the conflict of interest guidelines with regard to editing their own biography. Robert McClenon (talk) 02:02, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Lydia, much of the text was unsourced, and some of the references were not independent verifiable sources. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to her or her company company, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what she claims or interviewing her. There is also nothing to show why she meets the notability guidelines. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:52, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Userbox insert question[edit]

I created my first userbox and tried to insert it onto my userpage in a centered table, but something seems to make it a little higher than the other ones in the table. Not sure why it is not uniform. Can you please help me make the table correctly sized? Thank you! FULBERT (talk) 11:40, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@FULBERT: I've removed some blank lines from your userbox, which were being copied to your user page and messing up the spacing. -- John of Reading (talk) 11:43, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks, John of Reading! That was it!! The best for your day. FULBERT (talk) 11:47, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Page Creation[edit]

Hello,I have created a Wiki page and after submitting for review .A box is there but at its footer it says submit draft for review.Kindly guide with the same. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bankavikas (talkcontribs) 12:02, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I see that after asking your question you have subsequently submitted the draft, so it is now in the queue awaiting review. --David Biddulph (talk) 12:08, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting for Articles.[edit]

I once was able to find this, a page that just gives you the basic format for writing about people, or objects. I cannot find it now, and I just wanted to know if someone can provide the location for me.

Thanks, Schwiiz (talk) 15:07, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Are MOS: and MOS:BIO what you are looking for? - X201 (talk) 15:11, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It is the hub I was looking for, but not the thing directly. It will do. Thank you! Schwiiz (talk) 18:38, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Can anyone remove blantant spam in this article?[edit]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overdrive_%28mechanics%29 This sentence looks like total spam:

The buildings are now demolished and the overdrives are remanufactured in the UK by an ex-Laycock de Normanville employee trading as Overdrive Spares (TEL 0044 (0)1788 540666) . — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.64.25.201 (talk) 17:12, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have moved your thread to here where it may be noticed, instead of where you put it (in the section for 3 days ago) where it might easily have been overlooked. --David Biddulph (talk) 17:18, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
And I've removed the offending sentence. Deor (talk) 17:27, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Another user registered as POSAM at the Chinese Wikipedia in 2006 before you did at the English Wikipedia in 2007. In 2015 the account system changed to unified login where the same name must belong to the same user on all wikis. The Chinese POSAM kept the name. The old POSAM here was renamed to User:POSAM~enwiki. See User talk:POSAM~enwiki. See Wikipedia:Changing username if you want another name. You have no edits so you can also just create a new account. Steal The Night by Cindy Bullens[edit]

Why is the article for Steal the Night by Cindy Bullens redirected since January 17, 2017 when I can't see what the album from 1979, released on Casablanca Records is mainly all about and why has it been removed lately? The big worry is I need help with the article of Steal the Night by Cindy Bullens I just created that needs recovering.

Can you please help me with less redirecting when recovering that article about her less successful 1979 album?

Thank you.

Hi 88ui7 a discussion was held back in January about if the original Steal the Night article should be deleted, it was instead decided to redirect to the artist article instead as the album didn't warrant its own page under WP:NALBUM. As for the page you are creating, you are welcome to try create a draft of the page but again it needs to meet its own notability guidelines. If it does pass, then the redirect can be taken off. NZFC(talk) 21:21, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Continuing on from this, it appears you need to really do some reading around WP:NALBUM requirements as a number of articles you have created are now up for deletion. People have tried to explain on your own talk page why they are getting deleted as well. NZFC(talk) 21:28, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • @88ui7: Instead of continuing to recreate the article at different namespaces despite the original result to redirect, how about if you create the article at Draft:Steal the Night where you can work on improving the article without it getting removed or redirected. When you feel it is ready, ask for help again for someone to review it before putting it back as an article. You can learn a lot on how to make better articles by reading Wikipedia:Your first article and simply asking for help. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 21:40, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Supplementary question merged from later post[edit]

<Why has the article for Cindy Bullens at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Cindy_Bullens&redirect=no that I'm always crazy about been redirected lately when I can't see what her earlier life as a backing singer-turned-pop/rock star from 1974 to 2010 and a member of The Refugees (female folk trio) from 2007 to 2011 as part of the biography is mainly all about and I need understand why it keeps happening all the time?>

Please help me with...

<less redirecting when renaming that article of her name, Cindy Bullens, the tomboyish woman she used to be from years ago before she changed herself into a new transgender as a new man, named Cidny Bullens that I am not fond of for the one wo/man show of 2012 to present.

Thank you.> ~~88ui7~~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88ui7 (talkcontribs) 12:16, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Adding a photo to a Infobox[edit]

Can anyone give a step by step guide for how to add a photo to an infobox for a company? I am trying to upload the logo. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AdventureSeeker1 (talkcontribs) 23:49, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@AdventureSeeker1: Logos are usually copyrighted and can only be uploaded with a fair-use claim. This can be difficult and new users like you do not have the required permission. Maybe we can do it for you. Which page is it about and can you give a link to the logo? Requests can also be made at Wikipedia:Files for upload. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:20, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@PrimeHunter I'm trying to do it to create my first article, so the articles does not exist yet. Can you please explain where I can find a fair-use claim? — Preceding unsigned comment added by AdventureSeeker1 (talkcontribs)

@AdventureSeeker1: "Logos" was a link to a help page. But as I said, it can be difficult and your account cannot upload fair-use images since it isn't autoconfirmed. However, we cannot evaulate whether a fair-use claim is actually needed when you conceal the company and logo. You can create the page first without a logo and come back. If you create it as a draft then a fair-use non-free image isn't even allowed by Wikipedia:Drafts#Preparing drafts before it's possibly accepted into the encyclopedia.
