February 14[edit]

WI-FI early disconnection[edit]

I am a resident at Kiwanis Care Center in North Vancouver, I do not have a credit card, so I am not able to sign up for Paying to WiFi but I pay plenty to Kiwanis , I am only on the internet for a few minutes when it says you are no longer on the internet, I thought I should be able to stay on for at least 60 minutes, I feel your service is not that great in this place where I live. This is the help desk for editing Wikipedia. You need to ask the staff at Kiwanis Care Center about their internet policy. Dbfirs 08:11, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How to create a second Wikipedia account?[edit]

How can I create a second account and link (?) it to my first one, so that it won't be mistaken for a sockpuppet? Thank you in advance! Beyoncetan (talk) 08:50, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • To create it, just follow the same process as for the first one (if the software refuses to create a second account from the same email, you can simply create a throwaway address from any free email provider). To disclose the relationship between the two accounts, see WP:ALTACCN. TigraanClick here to contact me 09:22, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Two accounts can have the same email address. I guess that also applies to the time they are created. You can create the account while logged in if you want the logs to show you created it. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:41, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Creating redirect for non-related pages[edit]

I noticed that some has been creating redirect pages of upcoming TV series leading to the TV network company (not even the channel) or an actor's page. Example: Marry Me Now, Parting Left, Something About Us (TV series), Lawless Attorney, and Handsome Guy and Jung-eum. Is this allowed? It is not an alternative name of the network and the main page has nothing written about the upcoming series. Personally, it looks like a user is just creating the pages to increase page creation count, instead of contributing proper articles. What are the rules for such things? Should they be deleted or user asked to stop doing that since they don't follow WP:POFR? CherryPie94 (talk) 12:32, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Article RatingWS114 14:22, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[edit]

How can a article rating be improved?WS114 14:22, 14 February 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mary Jane Doerr (talkcontribs)

@Mary Jane Doerr:, most article ratings displayed on talk pages are added by relevant Wikiprojects, collaborative editing efforts that are organized by subject or topics. Each Wikiproject generally has its own ratings review request system but all of them use the same scale and generally similar criteria for different ratings. For example, Talk:Hugo Gottesmann is of interest to both the Biography project and the Austria project. The quality assessment page for the former is at Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography/Assessment and the latter is at Wikipedia:WikiProject Austria/Assessment. Each one of those gives explanations of the quality ratings standards they apply and how to request an assessment for changing the rating. I should mention that asking for a re-assessment of the article by the Biography project may not be productive at this time, as you've added only a small amount of text to that article since it was last assessed. I suggest that you review the quality rating criteria and attempt to address those specific points to prepare for assessment. I hope this helps. wrestlemania 35[edit]

can i have help creating wrestlemania 35 ?--Thefanofwwe (talk) 17:32, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Thefanofwwe! At the moment we don't know anything about Wrestlemania 35, apart from that it'll probably happen next year, at around the same time of year as all the other Wrestlemania events. That isn't really enough for an encyclopaedia article. Wikipedia has a policy on topics like this: Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. The good news is that at some point, barring something unexpected happening, Wikipedia will have an article on Wrestlemania 35, and when it does (probably a month or two before the event, so in January or February 2019) you're welcome to contribute to that article. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 21:49, 15 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Fixing conflict infobox[edit]

Hello. I have been working on the article Years of Lead (Italy), and it seems during the course of one of my edits; the Conflict Infobox was completely disorganized.

Assistance would be greatly appreciated, thank you. Simon Levchenko (talk) 20:40, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed, usually that is caused by incorrect template calling. one of the POW icons opened with {{ but closed with }. ~ GB fan 20:45, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Translation of articles from the german wikipedia[edit]

Hi, all. I would like to translate and bring into the english wikipedia two articles on musea/art places, which are originally in german. I order to be correct with rightholder-issues, do i have to ask for import or do i just add the this is a translation from the german wikipedia-button as i did on the Talk:Museum Wiesbaden-page? --Gyanda (talk) 22:00, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You don't need to ask anybody's permission, Gyanda, just attribute the source properly: see Translation. I would caution that the policies of different Wikipedias are different, so a simple translation of an article which is acceptable in one Wikipedia might not be adequate in another Wikipedia without some work - eg in the nature of the sources required. Apologies if I'm telling you what you already know. --ColinFine (talk) 23:35, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the info, ColinFine. I will start it in my space and perhaps you could have a look at it then, before i post it? That would be kind. Thanks again, --Gyanda (talk) 00:18, 15 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I was amused to see the rare or archaic plural of museum. The word is indeed from a Latin neuter, so I cannot object to your plural, except to comment that by far the most common plural in English is museums. Dbfirs 08:43, 15 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
really, i was so proud of my latin :-) sorry for the mistake though! Kind regards, --Gyanda (talk) 14:35, 15 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If Colin or someone else would be willing to have a view at the two sites, i translated and comment, if there is something missing or so, i would be thankful. Here they are: User:Gyanda/my new site, User:Gyanda/second new site —Preceding undated comment added 14:36, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
It makes me sad that noone takes a look. Perhaps this indifference is just normal, but it doesn't feel good. --Gyanda (talk) 01:43, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
