Why is my article getting declined[edit]

Even though I have provided sufficient details along with newspaper articles from significant newspaper that is Times Of India my article is constantly being declined. Please let me know what all additional information do you require so that I can provide it to you and we could get further with this procedure. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abhilasha Mestri (talkcontribs) 05:05, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Abhilasha Mestri. The draft in question is Draft:Pallavi Samant Desai. Your draft has only one reference. The Times of India is a reliable source but this is just a brief mention and brief quotation from that person in a very short article in that newspaper. That is not significant coverage, and provides no biographical information about this person. In order to write a biography on Wikipedia, you must provide references to several reliable, independent sources that devote significant biographical coverage to this person, and you cannot include any information that is not verified by the references in the article. You cannot include your own personal knowledge. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:40, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Abhilasha Mestri it's also promotional in tone. Note that if you have any conflict of interest when editing this article, you must declare it. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:19, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Help Desk, We are experiencing maintenence template remove message with the following issues and explanations:

A major contributor to this article appears to have a close connection with its subject. I’ve edited the article of the film production company Rowboat Film- und Fernsehproduktion GmbH where I work. We supply factual information corroborated from published sources. We encourage an independent editor review: how does that work?

The topic of this article may not meet Wikipedia's general notability guideline. That the company doesn’t meet Wikipedia’s general notability guideline is not accurate. In fact, the company has won, among other prizes, an International Emmy in New York for one of its films A Day for a Miracle - which is extremely notable for a German production company. Winning an International Emmy, which along with the Oscars are the most recognizable entertainment award worldwide, is sufficient grounds for its notability as an English language Wikipedia article.

So I would kindly ask you to remove the maintance templates. Thanks.KatharinaRB (talk) 15:42, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@KatharinaRB: If A Day for a Miracle won an Emmy then that certainly makes the film notable, and worthy of an article, which it has of course. I'm not sure that that makes the production company notable, or the dozens of people credited in the titles. Who did the hair and make-up? Should they get their own article? Probably not, right?
As for COI editing I strongly suggest you read WP:COI and WP:PAID. Wikipedia takes this sort of thing very seriously, as it's meant to be independent. nagualdesign 16:22, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@KatharinaRB: thanks you for declaring your paid editor status. It would help show notability if you added some facts about the company itself, such as number of employees, turnover or profits. You could remove the templates yourself, but given your COI, better if you ping me or nagualdesign when you think you have addressed the issues Jimfbleak - talk to me? 18:59, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Jimfbleak: and @Nagualdesign: Thank you very much for your answer. A Day for a Miracle won the International Emmy, which is a producing award, not say, hair or makeup or even directing. Therefore the producers and production company were made notable through winning the prize. Should the hair or make up had been a category, which it isn´t, but had it been, then they, too, would have been notable for their accomplishments. In this case, though, it was the producers and the production company. On top of that, A Day for a Miracle was the first production of the company, since then the company has produced 16 more movies and more notable productions such as the successful TV series Murder by the Lake, the sixth film was in January 2018 with 8.01 Million viewers in ZDF or, notably, 10% of the german population.
I will add some viewing numbers of different production of the company to the article to underline the importance of the production company for the German TV market. Then I would ping you to ask you to look over the changes and remove the maintance template. KatharinaRB (talk) 16:43, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The International Emmy, as its name suggests, recognizes excellence in TV programming that is produced initially outside the United States. It is not about the production company, as you suggest. If Rowboat Film won an award then you'd have a point, but it hasn't. Only the show itself won an award. Having said that, I'd encourage you to find reliable secondary sources that report or discuss Rowboat Film, which would demonstrate notability. nagualdesign 17:13, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
