In the latter case, see Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:Article development; and you may wish to try the Article Wizard. Before getting all involved with the details of article development, please read (really) about our specific notability requirements (See WP:NOTABLE). High school students and 18+ content[edit]

I know there is advice to young editors about content here: Wikipedia:Guidance for younger editors#Working on articles, Some parts of the encyclopedia may be unsuitable for young people. Wikipedia is not censored and we have much material that your parents may not want you to work on, so please discuss your Wikipedia work with a responsible adult, but what if a high school student adds themselves to a project e.g. WP:WikiProject Sexology and sexuality? Note: the real example is a different project but it is also 18+. Is there a template? E.g. "I note from your user page that you are under 18 so your name has been removed as an editor from XXX project, please refrain from editing articles connected to this project." --The Vintage Feminist (talk) 00:30, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That's not what the guidance says. It says that young editors should seek guidance from a responsible adult, not that they should not edit. For many youngsters, a stern warning is likely to entice them. A young editor with a real interest and with guidance from an adult in the real world may actually benefit from such editing. Besides, The Vintage Feminist, we have no way to know whether a parson stating on a user page that s/he is under 18 actually is under 18. Nor is the age of 18 written in stone or accepted world-wide as the age of majority, or the age when "mature" topics may be accessed, and I would advise against referring to them as "18+" topics, as if that were a general rule. Indeed we have had admins under 18, if I am not mistaken. In short, there is no rule or guideline against people of any specific age editing any topic area on Wikipedia, merely advide to consult a responsible adult. Okay, the actual project is the WP:WikiProject Pornography project and the quote above is from the guidance so I'm not sure what you mean by "That's not what the guidance says." The editor says he is at high school, I'm not quite sure we can say it's beneficial or appropriate for him to be editing such a project. Sorry, I was unclear. You quoted the guidance exactly, but the wording in your proposed template goes far beyond the guidance. Guidance: "talk to your parents." Your wording: "get off our project". -Arch dude (talk) 15:39, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As an additional point, I know of no policy that permits you or anyone else to remove an editor from a project. Please cite such a policy. If you or anyone else does this, you are likely to be sanctioned. Your intentions are good, but I fear that your proposed method is inappropriate. iPhone desktop view change.[edit]

Why has the desktop view on my iPhone changed? I now see icons instead of text on tabs, and several other changes, presumably thought by someone to be a good idea. There is no change on my iPad. Mobile WP - article search boxes[edit]

In mobile WP, when you do a search, a series of boxes comes up for relevant articles, which contain the article title as well as a strapline (short description of the topic). Where does the wording in the strapline come from? MapReader (talk) 05:16, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a template or something to calculate %?[edit]

Hi, I am writing a simple list for addition to an article which will consist of four items. Each item will have a numeral value which I would also like to express as a percentage of the sum of all four values. Is there a template et al that I can use in lieu of me doing the calculation? In Wikipedia tables do not behave like in Excel. They do not allow any calculations inside them. So, the answer is no. Ruslik_Zero 08:15, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

There is no feature to automatically add items of a list or cells of a table. {{Percentage}} can be used if you input the numbers directly for each percentage you want. denominator can be a sum, e.g. {{#expr:0.7+1.4+2+3}} = 7.1. PrimeHunter (talk) 09:40, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Editing graphs glitch[edit]

Info line below username on userpage[edit]

I used to have a thing below the username on a userpage that displayed the rights of the user and when they registered and when they last edited. It stopped being there a few days ago. Any idea what happened?

@Ian.thomson: The script is User:PleaseStand/userinfo.js, but Anna is using a bit of a customized version at the moment, User:Anna Frodesiak/user-info.js. I'm not seeing a lot in Special:ComparePages that would obviously stand out as causing an issue, other than maybe the change to the dependency.
