How can I permanently DISABLE MOBILE VIEW?

Is there, or can there be made to be, some way to permanently disable the mobile view? I hate having the mobile version come up when I google something and don't notice that the link I clicked is to the mobile version. There should be a preference to permanently disable the mobile view/version, and the link at the bottom of wiki articles, DeskView, should instead be DISABLE MOBILE VIEW, and be permanent, and should be at the TOP of a wiki article screen, not at the bottom. Hi there UnderEducatedGeezer. I don’t think there is a way to permanently disable mobile view, and I share your frustration. Over time, I have viewed my desktop watchlist enough so that I have a link directly to my watchlist in desktop on Safari. If you want to change the location of the mobile -> desktop button, then it is best to suggest the change at the Village Pump. @Willbb234: Thanks, I may do that, glad to know someone else is similarly frustrated! (I used your suggestion of the ping template, but I notice you used a different format in your response to me, "u|User Name", is that another form of ping? Hey UnderEducatedGeezer. Any new comment that includes a link to another user's name and a signature should issue a ping. (Though this system is persistently buggy and may fail for various known or unknown reasons.) GMG^talk 12:02, 24 August 2019 (UTC)

@UnderEducatedGeezer: When I am speaking to someone for the first time, I generally use the u|... notification system as its a little more friendly. Hi Thjarkur, that sounds very interesting, but I don't know how to do that. I don't (yet?) have a common.js page, and I don't see the code, nor know how to use it. Any help would be appreciated! How to transfer artcile from Sandbox to main article space

Superman Creator, I see that Draft:Charanpreet Singh has now been submitted for review. If it is reviewed while in its current state, it will be rejected, as it cites no references (though it does list some). Why my requests are not completed?

I have posted 2 requests with ip 62.18.0.233 in

but is not completed yet.

Some days ago I have posted same requests but there are moved to archive.

There's nothing wrong with your requests, just there's no one willing to act on them. Please understand we are all volunteers and no one is obligated to respond to your request. Give it more time or explore alternatives. – Ammarpad (talk) 14:26, 24 August 2019 (UTC)

Florence Biennae English Page

I worked for many hours yesterday to edit the Florence Biennale page in English. I included reference material and updated in formation well and in good faith. That work has been completely deleted saving nothing of it a putting back the page in an awful state. @Art-Culture-Languages: The edit summary left by Freshacconci was "Far too many problems with these changes to let stand". Maintenance templates were removed without explanation (the edit summary was only completed once in half-a-dozen or more edits) it seems some sourced material was removed and replaced possibly without proper sourcing and external links were included in the content. These were not the only issues. The advice given above to discuss it directly with the reverting editor is the correct way to proceed. (Preferably at the article talk page but their or your talk page is also an acceptable venue). Some links will be left at your talk page which will hopefully assist you in the future. Adding an image to Wikipedia

How do go about adding an image to an article?

I saw an explanation here, but I think I should also take into account ownership of the image, right? How do I figure that out? --2019OutlaweD (talk) 14:57, 24 August 2019 (UTC)

@2019OutlaweD:, who owns, or originally took, the photo? This will determine the process, and whether it can be uploaded at all. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 15:24, 24 August 2019 (UTC)

Also, If the image is already uploaded here, or to commons, the license will be in the file description. If an image is there under fair use, it can only be used on the article specified, but any other license you can place it onto an article - follow Help:Pictures. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 15:26, 24 August 2019 (UTC)

@2019OutlaweD:If you take a photo, you own the copyright and you can license it to us. If you have unquestioned ownership of the copyright (e.g., you are the sole heir of the photographer) the same. If you found an image on the Internet, then someone else owns the copyright and you can only use it if the owner licences it for use under a compatible free-use license. The owner may have done that: look for the copyright terms on the web site where you found the image. There are a few exceptions including first published before 1924, or US Federal government photo. Alternatively, you may look at the highly restrictive "free-use" justifications. If the image is on the Internet and you are in doubt, post a link here and we can look at it for you. -Arch dude (talk) 15:42, 24 August 2019 (UTC)

I do not own the picture. It is for the newest peaceful demonstration in Hong Kong. A human chain 50 miles (or more) long. I think this picture is particularly nice. The human chain is inspired by the Baltic Way. Both moments in history (23rd of AUgust 1989 and 23rd of August 2019) do something to me. It's about the way my democratic heart beats, way down in my chest.

@2019OutlaweD: I personally dislike the current copyright law immensely, and I agree with your sentiments. However, we must follow the law. The copyright for those pictures is owned by the BBC (or perhaps by a "stringer") and by law, in the absence of an explicit license, we cannot use them. failure to be rigorous about this would put Wikipedia as a whole at risk of attack by entities that might seek to shut us down. Your best bet would be to get pictures taken by individuals in Hong Kong and get them to put them up or otherwise provide copyright release of some type. -Arch dude (talk) 16:43, 24 August 2019 (UTC)

Yeah, I was thinking that. But who would have pictures like that and would be willing to share? If a face is recognised, a politically motived arrest might not be far off. It saddens me to say it, but this is the state of affairs in Hong Kong. Not too long ago someone was arrested for carrying laser pens...without batteries... the authorities claimed that it was a fully functional ray gun, capable of setting people on fire (arrested for carrying a concealed weapon). He is, just coincidentally, a student organisation leader from the university and as such suspected of being a "leader" in the demonstrations. However, there are no leaders in the demonstrations. They are completely decentralised. Politically motivated arrests.. :(

Anyway, I could ask around. I do know a lot of people from Hong Kong.

There are lots of photos of the Hong Kong protests that have been released under an appropriate license and uploaded to Wikimedia Commons: see commons:Category:Demonstrations against extradition bill in Hong Kong, 2019, where they're divided up chronologically into subcategories. The most recent of these has the subcategory commons:Category:Hong Kong Way, which contains photos of the human chain. Can you be more precise about what you were trying to do? Was that the only content of the error message? What sources were you trying to add? If you have not done so please read WP:REFB to see if you were adding correctly.

basically I had sources for his Turkish citizenship from Eurohoops and Trendbasket however each time I tried to add them after “citizenship” on his page it kept saying “error edit not saved” this is the exact same way I have sourced in the past and it’s always worked, (the sources for this page were even showing accurately at the bottom of the page on the preview but it wouldn’t let me save it and I got the error message) Wiki Facts fixer (talk) 15:51, 24 August 2019 (UTC)

I guess he means that his edits triggered the spam filter. @Wiki Facts fixer: When you use Google, please make sure that you open the results in a new tab so you get redirected to the actual source url. This url type is prevented because the redirect URLs of Google doesn't always work (It looks like they are client-based or generated on the fly when you perform a search). George Washington and his mother Mary Ball

Its been proven in the past few years that George Washington, the United States of America's very First President is genetically 50% of Albanian descent. His mother was born as Marija Bala(Balaj) in Virgina, USA in 1708. Her parents originated from Pec which is now known as Peja, Kosovo. The autonomy agreement that President Nixon made with Tito of the Former Yugoslavia was the result of this knowledge because George Washington left a letter trust asking that Albanians around the world be protected. I disagree with 331dot. The article currently states "The farinograph is a variation of the Brabender Plastograph", without a reference. It does eslewhere cite this reference which claims the farinograph was developed in 1928, and the plastograph in 1936. Removing an unreferenced and apparently false statement does not itself require a reference. I have removed it. Maproom (talk) 20:03, 24 August 2019 (UTC)

Maproom I had interpreted the question as wanting to replace one statement with another, based on what the user knows only. If the only issue is that the statement is incorrect, yes it should be removed. 331dot (talk) 20:19, 24 August 2019 (UTC)

AFC club rankings

There should be single source, from where the AFC Club rankings should be put in the article of the respective clubs. In case of most of the clubs, this website is considered. so, we can have the rankings from this source only, and no other. 😄  S a  h a  16:27, 24 August 2019 (UTC)

If that discussion gets too fragmented, consider discussing it at the talk page of Wikipedia:WikiProject Football or the appropriate one of its sub-projects. I know very little about this subject. @RudolfRed: The citation error is due to editors adding <ref name=> in the Reflist of the Reference section. As long as the <ref name=> is not used in the main article, the system will flag citation error. Fiipchip (talk) 06:05, 25 August 2019 (UTC)

@RudolfRed and Eagleash:, found the answer to what Jax 0677 is talking about. The collapse section is in International reactions#Reactions by country and the show button is on the far right. I did not see it at first.
