Draft article that become article in mainspace[edit]

Not sure if any editors have ask this question before.

Is there a procedure or process to delete the draft article page after has been move to the mainspace and no re-direct is required? This has been a question that I was pondering on for a while. Example is an article I posted when I was a new editor, Draft:Those Who Cross the Line → Those Who Cross the Line. Fiipchip (talk) 05:57, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Fiipchip: You can request deletion but WP:CHEAP. Eagleash (talk) 06:53, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi want to make child actor Wikipedia page[edit]

I want make Wikipedia page for my son who is 13 year old boy and Indian child actor like other actors information comes on page by searching only name pls reply — Preceding unsigned comment added by Uzair basar (talkcontribs) 5:33PM, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

Uzair basar You have what Wikipedia calls a conflict of interest in writing about your son, and it is strongly advised that you not attempt to do so. Not all actors merit an article here, they would need to meet the criteria written at WP:NACTOR, as shown with significant coverage in independent reliable sources. If you truly feel that your son meets this criteria, you should post a request at Requested Articles(though there is a severe backlog there so it will not be done quickly) but your best bet is to simply allow independent editors to take note of your son's career and write about them. Also please understand that a Wikipedia article is not necessarily desirable; there are good reasons to not want one(especially for a minor). Wikipedia has no interest in aiding search results. 331dot (talk) 10:54, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How to create a page[edit]

I want to create a page in wikipedia named 'Nabadwip Bakultala High School', but I don't know how to create it. Please help me to do it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by G C Dey (talkcontribs) 10:40, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

G C Dey Successfully writing a new Wikipedia article is probably the hardest task on Wikipedia. It takes much time and practice. It's best to get some experience editing existing articles under your belt first, to get a feel for how Wikipedia works and what is expected of article content. However, if you still want to attempt to write an article, you should read Your First Article and then create and submit a draft at Articles for Creation where you can get feedback on it before it is formally placed in the encyclopedia(instead of afterwards when users will be more critical). You may also find it helpful to use the new user tutorial. 331dot (talk) 10:56, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Demands to do something "right away" don't have much effect, as this is a volunteer project. It is also up to you to monitor articles you are interested in, not others to spend their valuable time telling you when things are done. The best way to see that something is done right away is to do it yourself. I have removed your email address for your own protection; Wikipedia related business should also be conducted on Wikipedia if at all possible. 331dot (talk) 11:07, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can't post on rtl page[edit]

I have found a probable error in Maldivian language and written it up at Talk:Maldivian language#Letter or sound?. Being quite unfamiliar with the language, I can't check the sentence, much less fix it. I tried to comment on the Maldivian wiki at https://dv.wikipedia.org/wiki/%DE%A4%DE%A8%DE%90%DE%B0%DE%89%DE%AA:Page_for_non--Dhivehi/Mahl-Speakers (I had trouble getting this into an interwiki link with "dv:") , but after over an hour trying to post English text and wikicode on a right-to-left page, even within "div dir=ltr", I couldn't get it to publish. (Gory details at the talk page post.) What's the matter?

Please {{Ping}} me to discuss. --Thnidu (talk) 14:38, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I was able to post to that page so I don't know what your problem is likely to have been, but I believe I have just posted to a Category page and not an actual community help page.... – Thjarkur (talk) 14:54, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks, Þjarkur! In saw that it was listed as a Category page, which was clearly wrong, but that's the page specified for those who don't know Maldivian, near the bottom of the home page.

That home page was edited once last year, and before that not since 2012, so dv:Wikipedia may well have been essentially abandoned.

Display problem in this page's header[edit]

On my mobile, the top line of this page after the title says

About Wikipedia         Administration ...

The three dots are for the distance from the right half of the next letter to the end of the line, which are covered by two speech balloons, the first saying "?" and the second saying "i".

Please {{Ping}} me to discuss. --Thnidu (talk) 15:16, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thnidu So where is the problem? – Ammarpad (talk) 15:32, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed the small icon since it wasn't necessary on this page. – Thjarkur (talk) 15:44, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How can I change content's category?[edit]

I'm against the category which Korean medicine content is placed in. The word "Pseudo-medicine, Quackery, …etc" gives the feeling of incredible, distrustful. Our country's scholars are striving to shed light on the Korean Medicine. It cannot be regarded as unreal, analogous topic since it affects medicines around the world. I understand that in Western Culture, Eastern medicine is considered as an alternative medicine because there's no history on Eastern Oriental medicine. But I can't suppress my feeling when it comes to the word 'pseudo medicine'. Who did set this category name? Plz change the word of category immediately. I hope it could be done in short term, and also hope to get your reply. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.212.229.161 (talk) 15:33, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

IP editor, please don't be offended by the category of Altenative medicine. It is by definition a broad category. You are unlikely to get your desired result by simply stating how offended you are by it. The category was created as a result of much discussion. Please start a discussion of your concerns on the category's Talk page.--Quisqualis (talk) 16:17, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Admin goggles needed[edit]

Hi. Would any admin be willing to provide me with page history of the now-deleted Emily Lyons (entrepreneur)? I would like to know which editor created the article. Much obliged. SamHolt6 (talk) 18:16, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It was Basiliskia who created it, and Bri was the only other person to make significant edits. FWIW I think the deletion was extremely dubious since A7 clearly didn't apply (although I doubt it would survive AfD), so if you want me to undelete it I'm more than willing to do so. ‑ Iridescent 18:20, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Iridescent: thanks. Actually, what spurred my inquest was credible off-wiki evidence indicating that Lyons employed a shady paid editing company to create an article for her—she later expressed that she thinks the company has scammed her. I personally think there is no harm leaving the topic buried until a responsible editor chooses to recreate it. Best. SamHolt6 (talk) 19:24, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't recall now what brought me to the article, perhaps it was one of MER-C's posts at COIN of suspect UPE. In any event, once I saw it, there was no doubt. Feel free to ping me if there's anything else you need. ☆ Bri (talk) 03:03, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How to change page name[edit]

Hello,

I am looking to listing my company name with your database without any promotion or advertisement.

Please help me by mentioning each and every step includes to do so.

My page name shall be XYZ Ltd.

Looking forward to getting the best help from you ASAP.

Thanks & Regards Piyush Soni — Preceding unsigned comment added by Piyushsoni1993 (talkcontribs) 21:48, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Piyushsoni1993 You seem to have a common misconception about what Wikipedia is. This is not a database that merely tells about subjects, this is an encyclopedia, where article subjects must be shown with significant coverage in independent reliable sources to meet Wikipedia's special definition of notability(in this case, our definition of a notable organization). Wikipedia is not interested in what an article subject wants to say about itself.
You also have what Wikipedia calls a conflict of interest, and are a paid editor. You will need to review and comply with those policies, especially the latter as it is a Wikipedia Terms of Use requirement. As you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid directly editing about your company. There are indirect ways to do so if your company truly meets the notability criteria- though not every company does, even within the same field.
If you just want to tell the world about your company, you should use social media or a company owned website. Merely telling about a company here is considered promotional, even if you are not actively selling something or soliciting customers. 331dot (talk) 22:16, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Piyushsoni1993: All of the above is true, but more fundamentally, the topic of any article must be notable by our definition. For companies, that's WP:NCORP. If the topic is notable, we can fix any other problems. If it is not notable, you article would be immediately deleted. See Wikipedia:No amount of editing can overcome a lack of notability. -Arch dude (talk) 16:24, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
