March 17[edit]

KDNL page[edit]

There was not a viewer or advertiser “boycott” and it cannot be cited by any credible source that there was . There was also not an “insinuated” threat to assault anyone . This page puts Sinclair in legal jeopardy as the separation agreement between Allman and Sinclair has a non disparagement clause . — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.24.140.198 (talk) 05:02, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think this is about the final paragraph of KDNL-TV.   Maproom (talk) 08:17, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello IP editor! The best place to discuss this is the article's talk page: Talk:KDNL-TV. GoingBatty (talk) 02:28, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Change file name[edit]

I uploaded an image but I made a mistake in the name. How can I fix it? (There is no MOVE available.) Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 05:06, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Bubba73: see Rename media. Non-admins can't move files, but you can simply ask an admin to move them for you... Victor Schmidt (talk) 07:21, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks.

To correct "orphans"[edit]

Please explain and indicate - to the humanist and Wiki-layman - what I have to do to correct "orphans" - preferably one link in 2-3 sentences (slowly and "in capitals"). And other problems of this bio: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helena_Krasowska

Because posting instructions after a 15-second viewing of an low-rated biography from the editor's or administrator's point of view is unfortunately not enough for a person starting adventure with Wiki. Your Sincerely Umberto Di Savoia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Umberto Di Savoia (talkcontribs) 09:22, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Umberto Di Savoia: Orphan is not about what the article contains but whether you can get to the article from another article. Find at least one other article where you can insert Helena Krasowska to produce a link to Helena Krasowska. Then it will no longer be an orphan and the orphan tag can be removed manually. PrimeHunter (talk) 10:18, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
There is more information on dealing with orphaned articles at Wikipedia:Orphan. TSventon (talk) 13:40, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Can I change my username from "Kisevalter Was Nash" to "Was Kisevalter Nash?"?

how to respond[edit]

I received the following in my email today.

‪Hwem‬ mentioned you on the ‪Anna Saulowna Lyuboshits‬ talk page in "‪Merger proposal‬". @PalmerWolf, AMM Pittsburgh, and Ipigott: I propose to merge Anna Luboshutz into Anna Saulowna Lyuboshits. It seems they duplicate each other. (Gen... View mention ‪Hwem‬ View changes

How do I respond to this email. I am concerned about the suggestion and want to explain the problem — Preceding unsigned comment added by PalmerWolf (talkcontribs) 15:08, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

PalmerWolf, If you have objections to the merger you can voice them on the discussion page, but if you don't you might voice support for the merger or help to merge the two articles. WelpThatWorked (talk) 15:12, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Enterprise[edit]

Hi Folks!! I read an article on wired last night. I don't know if it was an early April fool's gig. It was Wikipedia Enterprise. Any ideas? I couldn't find anything on it, although I was 96% asleep. scope_creepTalk 15:22, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Floquenbeam: Thanks. scope_creepTalk 16:20, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting. Here's the Wired article, albeit unfortunately paywalled 1. I asked at the project talk page if they could add some examples of real world use cases. I guess Google is the big one, but I'm curious who else might benefit from this. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 19:56, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Last word on this 2 - hopefully they'll add some of the business use case info - this is very interesting to us knowledge junkies. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 00:46, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

How to add a word to the dictionary[edit]

i dont know how to add a new word to the dictionary. Please help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SoulSisters1600 (talkcontribs) 16:05, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

SoulSisters1600, this is Wikipedia, not a dictionary. Are you referring to Wiktionary? If so, you should ask them, not us. If you are referring to, say, an online or print dictionary, consider contacting them about it. Thanks, EDG 543 (message me) 16:13, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The help page for this at Wiktionary is wikt:Help:Starting a new page. Please pay special attention to the inclusion criteria for the word: you are not supposed to add a word that you just invented. -Arch dude (talk) 17:54, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

someone deleted all of my hard work[edit]

i am very sad now and im about to cry — Preceding unsigned comment added by Esicher03 (talkcontribs) 20:02, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have to hand it to you! I've never seen vandalism here in Wikipedia that someone must have worked so hard over. But it was still vandalism. Uporządnicki (talk) 20:16, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Why did you think it was a good idea to change the WP-article Politics of Croatia to this? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:17, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
How odd to do it and call attention to it here. It's all been reverted and we now know Cluebot is working fine. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 00:43, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Personally I shall miss sentences such as REPLY Ehtch Ehtch on October 23, 2011 at 8:16 pm you total wanks. on the hallowed pages of WP. >MinorProphet (talk) 04:23, 18 March 2021 (UTC) [reply]

Help w/ portals[edit]

I am unfamiliar with how to operate portals after the changes that happened a year or so again. Specificaly, I am trying to get the selected biography on Portal:Cars to be Sabine Schmitz, but can't for the life of me figure out how, esp considering the old method is no longer used. I looked on the Portal:Portal talk page but it was inactive. If anyone can help me with this, thanks.Thanks,L3X1 ◊distænt write◊ 20:13, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The way the portal is currently coded is that it selected a biography randomly (each time the page is purged) from a given list of articles (J. B. Straubel, Bertha Benz, Nikolaus Otto, Michelle Christensen, Edward T. Welburn, Leilani Munter, Elwood Haynes, Karl-Gottfried Nordmann and Henry Ford). I've added Sabine Schmitz to that pool, but I wonder whether it is really a good idea to make it pick one article all the time instead of continuing to use the random selection. * Pppery * it has begun... 20:41, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ClueBot NG glitch?[edit]

I think ClueBot NG is supposed to give increasing warnings, but I noticed that on a recent vandal talk page ClueBot NG gave two of the same warning to the user, making a new section in the same month. Is this supposed to happen? [3] is the page. The user had 2 vandal edits reverted by ClueBot NG within 5 days of each other in March, but it gave two separate warnings. I posted on the ClueBot Commons talk page but got no reply. Noah 💬 21:51, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@-noah-: Are you sure you posted in the right place? I went to User talk:ClueBot Commons and didn't see anything from you. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 00:37, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Timtempleton: I did post it on ClueBot commons, but it was archived — Preceding unsigned comment added by -noah- (talkcontribs) 01:06, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Timtempleton: courtesy ping. May I add that User talk:ClueBot Commons isn't particulary watched by anyone? Victor Schmidt (talk) 07:00, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
