December 21[edit]

Dear[edit]

Kindly assist to write an article published here cordially Professeur Ndoulah (talk) 02:53, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello/bonjour. Your sandbox article is written entirely in French - this is the English version of Wikipedia, so article submissions must be written in English. It also appears that you are writing about your own work, which is a conflict of interest. We do not accept original research on Wikipedia. Only topics that are notable are accepted, which requires that they already have extensive coverage in a variety of reliable and independent sources. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 04:59, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The paragraph "BIOGRAPHIE DU PROFESSEUR NDOULAH" (biography of Prof. Ndoulah) claims that this person "is the heir prince of the village of Ndoulah, rich in gold, diamonds and other precious materials", "has been approached multiple times to be part of the government of multiple African countries but refused due to his lack of love for politics", and "is the respectable husband of multiple women of multiple nationalities (Arab, American, European, African, Asian) with multiple children". (The mixup between geography, ethnicity and nationality is not a mistake in my translation.) I did find it somewhat funny, but I will still tag the page for deletion, and warn our dear professor to drop that act. The page User:Professeur Ndoulah/sandbox has been deleted by Deb. I am not convinced WP:G6 was valid as a CSD criterion, but I am not going to argue with the result.
The paragraph I mentioned, posted in French on en-wp, is no longer available to non-admins; however, a version in English, posted on fr-wp, is there in the history of the fr-wp userpage. TigraanClick here for my talk page ("private" contact) 09:32, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Annoying section.[edit]

Section 1931 in film#1931 film releases is confusing. It’s not a full list of the films released in 1931 (like 1931 in film#Notable films released in 1931), so what even is it? Just a random list of films? Great. 81.155.230.3 (talk) 08:31, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, this is an annoying section because you have already raised this in two previous sections: #The annoying film releases section and #ANNOYING film section.. Please continue the discussion in the existing sections or on the relevant article talk page, rather than starting yet another section here. --David Biddulph (talk) 08:38, 21 December 2022 (UTC)-[reply]
The question hasn’t been answered and is about to move into archive. You can’t really ‘continue the discussion’ in which case. Until the question has been answered it will be asked, because it’s a problem left unresolved. A significant one at that. 81.155.230.3 (talk) 08:44, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you haven't had an answer so far you aren't likely to get an answer by keeping on asking the same question. Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film would seem an appropriate venue. - David Biddulph (talk) 08:51, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have however raised the question in the article talk page, but it seems to be a section added to many of the years between 1930 - 2000, and by many different users, so there’s obviously a consensus as to what that section represents. Perhaps one that could be uncovered from within wikipedia’s interface for anyone who knows how to find it. That makes this question just as valid in the wiki help desk than the article talk page, which I imagine will take some time to get a response from. 81.155.230.3 (talk) 08:49, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's valid to post it here, but the lack of replies here after your second post suggests that it hasn't reached anybody here who is interested in the question you raise. Given that, posting a third time becomes annoying. Since you have not so far found anybody else interested in the question, I suggest you either WP:SOFIXIT or move onto something else. Resolved

- according to the IP who started this thread, then deleted it rather than letting it be archived - Arjayay (talk) 17:34, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Repeated information[edit]

Hello, Was just reading the page about lightning. I see there are repeated almost identical paragraphs under the heading 'Distribution, frequency and extent'. Paragraphs 8 and 9 under that heading are repeated with slight variations of information. I came looking for more information about a phenomenon I read about on the BBC news website: triggered lightning. (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-64043030) I am no expert, so can't contribute, but wonder if someone might be approached to add this information or reference to the phenomenon to the lightning page? Thanks, E LeMoine 81.187.126.215 (talk) 08:47, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I can't see the repeated paragraphs to which you refer. Perhaps you can be more specific? If you believe that the BBC news article might usefully contribute to the article, you might perhaps mention it at Talk:Lightning. - David Biddulph (talk) 09:16, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You are right E Lemoine. @Mebigrouxboy edited the paragraph last month, but seems to have accidentally left the old copy in as well. Rather than just deleting one, I've pinged Mebigrouxboy here, so that they can sort it out with confidence. ColinFine (talk) 10:42, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It appears I did. Terribly sorry for the inconvenience caused. I've just fixed it. Mebigrouxboy (talk) 17:24, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

I recently created a page Badminton at the 1975 Southeast Asian Peninsular Games and was wondering how could I invoke the old burmese flag in the medal table (given in article itself). I tried to write the name of the event in the medal table, but it still shows the new Myanmar flag. Thankyou. zoglophie 16:20, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, zoglophie. I've fixed it by adding | name_MYA = {{flagteam|MYA|1974}} to the {{Medals table}}. "1974" selects the correct flag - see Template:Country data Myanmar. ColinFine (talk) 16:53, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hiding category removals from watchlist?[edit]

I turned off "Hide categorization of pages" in my settings so that if I watchlist a category, I can see pages added to or removed from that category on my watchlist. Is there code that I can add (to my .css, perhaps) that can hide the removals and only show the additions? DanCherek (talk) 16:29, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
