How to address script error warning prompts?[edit]

I just came across script warning prompts and don't see how to identify or fix the issue. There are no redlinks in the citations to direct me. See CareCloud. Click Edit and then Show preview to bring up the script error message. Clicking help causes you to navigate away and makes you lose your edits. I saved my edits and then clicked through the help link and it takes you to Help:CS1_errors#Controlling_error_message_display. I'm not sure that is going to help most casual editors.

This is only a preview; your changes have not yet been saved! → Go to editing area
Script warning: One or more {{cite web}} templates have maintenance messages; messages may be hidden (help).
Script warning: One or more {{cite news}} templates have maintenance messages; messages may be hidden (help).

Any thoughts on how to resolve this? TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 01:14, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Timtempleton: There's another section about this above #Invisible maintenance messages on cite templates. There's a discussion on the CS1 talk page linked. 192.76.8.73 (talk) 01:26, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - I posted at the linked talk page thread. Looks like a bug. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 12:34, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I also see this. I have noticed that when I take the example "List of psychotropic substances under international control" (PDF). International Narcotics Control Board. 2005-04-30. Archived from the original (PDF) on 2005-09-07. Retrieved 2022-01-26. from the {{Cite web}} page and change the title to "Archived copy", the script throws the (unhelpful) error. Try a different title? Vexations (talk) 12:25, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What's the point of a TOC limit?[edit]

Template:TOC limit Ak-eater06 (talk) 02:00, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Excessively long tables-of-contents that take up multiple screens' worth of scroll. The template exists to cull entries of a certain level or lesser from the list to declutter it. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Jéské Couriano 02:02, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
See an example where {{TOC limit}} was later used. PrimeHunter (talk) 08:31, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In need of someone to fix a font[edit]

Hello! At Talk:The Free Dictionary, an user has a big Venus symbol in their signature, which makes the talk page difficult to read. Could someone fix this user's signature by reducing said Venus symbol to a normal size? Veverve (talk) 05:16, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is something that should be brought up at WP:AN/I, not here. I apologise in advance for sending you to that wretched hive of jargon and wankery. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Jéské Couriano 05:34, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Just a note that the user in question (User:Eequor) has not edited since 2006, so they are unlikely to respond to a request to change their signature. The discussion at Talk:The Free Dictionary which contains their signature is from 2004, so it would probably be best to just archive that discussion. CodeTalker (talk) 05:51, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Signatures with images are disallowed by WP:SIGIMAGE. I have removed the image. PrimeHunter (talk) 08:27, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Deletions by Wikicleanerbot[edit]

It appears that something called Wikicleanerbot removed the three pictures that I spent today adding to Fred O'Donovan (actor). I pressed Undo but the words weren't there to be undone. What is going on?Roryjohnston (talk) 06:06, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Courtesy link: Fred O'Donovan (actor). I see that Roryjohnston added some pictures, then WikiCleanerBot moved two references to follow a comma instead of preceding it (with no effect on the pictures), then Roryjohnston reverted the bot's edit. Maproom (talk) 07:39, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Roryjohnston, I just reverted your revert mentioned above, as all the bot did was fix small manual of style errors. Punctuation goes before <ref> tags per WP:REFPUNCT, which is what the bot did. Cmr08 (talk) 07:50, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Roryjohnston: The images have never been removed. If you didn't see them then maybe you were looking at an old version from before the images were added. bypass your cache to see the current version. PrimeHunter (talk) 09:13, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Selfpub question[edit]

Don't know if the last one went through because of an edit conflict. Anyway, found this shady site while looking to improve Draft:MicroWiki, is this WP:SELFPUB https://www.euvolution.com/prometheism-transhumanism-posthumanism/micronations/microwiki-the-micronation-org-wiki/

Thanks AWESOMEDUDE0614 (talk) 13:34, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, its a copy paste of the mainpage to try to increase SEO. AWESOMEDUDE0614 (talk) 13:35, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Lost draft[edit]

Hello I cant find a draft page I started. I am new here. Am I looking in wrong place? — Preceding unsigned comment added by TeamLegendary2022 (talkcontribs) 18:12, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@TeamLegendary2022: Hello Legendary! Do you remember what the name of your draft was? Looking at your contributions, your only edit so far is this question. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:13, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I do remember, I must have not saved it, yikes. Thank you! I will start a new one! — Preceding unsigned comment added by TeamLegendary2022 (talkcontribs) 18:21, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@TeamLegendary2022: No problem! Make sure you press the button that says "publish" when you are done with your edit as that will make sure the draft page is created and your edit is saved. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:24, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@TeamLegendary2022: It's possible to save drafts without logging in. If you say what it was about then we can try to search for it. The search box doesn't search drafts by default. PrimeHunter (talk) 18:45, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The draft I started was JOSHUA GRODE — Preceding unsigned comment added by TeamLegendary2022 (talkcontribs) 18:49, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@TeamLegendary2022: Doesn't seem like it was ever saved. I tried looking for Draft:Joshua Grode and Draft:JOSHUA GRODE and neither turned anything up. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 19:10, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you everyone, starting a new one — Preceding unsigned comment added by TeamLegendary2022 (talkcontribs) 19:45, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@TeamLegendary2022: I have searched all namespaces and deleted page names without finding anything. If you make external links as a new user then there may be an extra step after clicking Publish (admittedly a confusing term for saving a draft). You can click "Contributions" at the top right of any page to see saved edits by your account. There are also occasional software issues but they usually show an error message when trying to save. I sometimes copy the edit area before trying to save a large edit. In Windows browsers you can do it in a second with Ctrl+a followed by Ctrl+c. Insert it again with Ctrl+v. Removing content that shouldn't be on a talk page...[edit]

I would like to direct your attention to user 76.170.239.56/TJ Spyke. On the Mutual Broadcasting System talk page, 76/TJ Spyke clearly issued a threat to sue based off content on Wikipedia. After looking through other content, I came across a statement declaring that any user found to make legal threats based off Wikipedia content risks an editing ban/block. I am wondering what Wikipedia's policy is concerning talk page content on Wikipedia that is found to be in violation of its policies. In other words, what I am asking is if such content is allowed to remain on a Wikipedia talk page, or if such content is removed based on it being proven to be in violation of Wikipedia guidelines. 2600:1700:C960:2270:D9DD:2409:8668:22C (talk) 20:59, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The policy for legal threats on talk pages is the same as it is everywhere else on Wikipedia - Block until retracted or concluded. The comments themselves aren't generally deleted unless they're abusive in ways beyond the legal threat, but I don't think anyone will care if you remove them. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Jéské Couriano 21:01, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your help in this situation. 2600:1700:C960:2270:D9DD:2409:8668:22C (talk) 21:07, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@애국심 존중: You have been reverted multiple times and are edit warring at this point. It would be best for you to describe on the article's talk page how, in your opinion, the section contravenes Wikipedia:NOTGUIDE. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 00:39, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

my edits were reverted even though I posted high-quality sources and references[edit]

My edits were reverted even though I posted high-quality sources and references. You are reverting changes based on "vandalism," even though the credible sources I used were ignored by your team. It continues to make Wikipedia an untrusted destination. I hope you didn't forget this is the exact reason why people don't use your site as a source of truth. I also hope you're paying these admins. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.172.243.224 (talk)

I'm assuming you are talking about your edits at Janet Yellen. The information you added to the lead does not belong in the first sentences of the article, see WP:UNDUE. Perhaps the information belongs in subsequent sections but not in the lead. -- LuK3 (Talk) 23:42, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
(ec) I'm not paid. We don't ask people to trust Wikipedia, as Wikipedia is not a reliable source. Your edits to Janet Yellen appeared meant to give undue weight to one small aspect of her, for political purposes I assume. If you feel that your edit was valid, please discuss it on the article talk page. 331dot (talk) 23:44, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We do not have a "team". We have approximately 100,000 unique active editors in any given 30-day period and each of them takes on whatever editing tasks they want to, with no formal coordination. You join the "team" of editors working on a particular article by editing the article. You work with your team mates by discussing your edits on the article's talk page to reach consensus. One way to do this is to make edits, then see if they get reverted, and then discuss it on the talk page. See WP:BRD. -Arch dude (talk) 00:55, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You made the big mistake of editing in a topic area under discretionary sanctions. The absolute last thing we need is editors coming in and adopting a "My way or the highway" attitude. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Jéské Couriano 01:11, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Her speaking fees are already mentioned much better at the end of Janet Yellen#After the Federal Reserve (2018–2020). I don't see why this or mention of an alleged close friend should be in the opening paragraph. And your sources don't support your claims. You claimed the speaking fees were for Hedge Funds but your source [1] says banks and large companies. You claimed she is a close friend with Kenneth C Griffin but your source [2] doesn't even say whether they know eachother. See Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons and stop adding claims about living people which are not supported by the alleged sources. In August you called her corrupt twice with no source whatsoever. It was that which got you a deserved vandalism warning the second time after a milder warning the first time. It's users like you who cause distrust in Wikipedia, not the users who revert your bad edits. PrimeHunter (talk) 01:25, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
