Issues with using the visual editor[edit]

"Contributors"[edit]

Does WP:FORBESCON apply to "Senior Contributors"? I'm not even sure what a "Senior Contributor" is but it sounds more important than a regular contributor. I'm asking in regards to this article and I'm asking here instead of RSN because I rarely get responses at RSN. TipsyElephant (talk) 03:41, 7 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say yes. It don't matter what contributors call themselves. The website has been deemed to be unreliable and should not be used. The printed magazine is reliable and may be used. Mjroots (talk) 14:43, 7 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Content[edit]

Hi team, I was wondering how you go about including a new listing on both the Australia's Big Things List and on the NSW Big Things list as there is a particular Big Thing missing from this content that is still accessible to public in our local region. Sadly I could not figure it out using the 'how to' instructions on contributing content. @Krysti Giles: Hi there! I'm guessing you're referring to the Australia's big things article. Since the article uses tables, you might want to review Help:Wikitable. Hello, Krysti Giles. GoingBatty has answered you about the mechanics of adding an entry to the list, but I'm guessing that you want to add a Big Thing that isn't yet in Wikipedia at all. In that case, the answer is write the article first. Unfortunately, writing an article from scratch is difficult for inexperienced editors, and the best thing to do is probably to ask for help at WT:WikiProject Australia. Improve section of an article[edit]

On the talk page of the article Magnetoreception, I proposed yesterday to make some improvements on a section in the article. But this talk page is visited once every three years or so. I therefore wondered if I am allowed to make these improvements in the next few days without asking/discussing.PHACELIAS (talk) 12:39, 7 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

IETF error in Lake Garda article[edit]

An error message is being displayed in the Lake Garda article that says Error: {{native name}}: an IETF language tag as parameter {{{1}}} is required.

I've tried to fix it with the following code which works in my sandbox but not in the article for some reason:

{{native name|it|Lago di Garda}} / {{native name|it|Benaco}}<br/>{{native name|lmo|Lach de Garda}}<br/>{{native name|vec|Ƚago de Garda}}

Jump paste?[edit]

Recently, when I've pasted text into an edit page, even if it's just a cut-and-paste within the page, the edit box jumps back up to the start of the edit page or section. It was particularly annoying earlier today when I was adding a new ref to a table multiple times, and had to go back down the page to find the table on each occasion. Any ideas? uploading new entry[edit]

The instructions say: To start a page called User:Psmagorinsky/sandbox/Margaret Smagorinsky, type in the box below. When you are done, preview the page to check for errors and then publish it.

But there is no information on how to publish it, which would be very helpful. Absolutely none. Zip. Please help me and others by providing a link for "publish it" that informs us of how to do it.

Psmagorinsky Thanks for donating, but the fact that you donated has no impact on article content. Have you clicked "publish changes" yet? "Publish changes" should be intepreted to simply mean "save changes". Typically a draft is created using Articles for Creation, which provides the necessary information needed to submit it.

Assistance with an edit[edit]

1. I made my first edit this week. 2. After I posted the edit, I realized I had forgotten how to do a citation. So I logged out and asked a friend who's an experienced Wikipedia editor. He walked me through the process and I added a citation about four hours later. 3. Then an editor identified only by an IP address, 70.44.147.248 reverted my edit. 4. With some more help from my friend I found out my citation was weak; I did not drill down far enough into the source to provide an easily-read citation. 5. Now I've got an improved citation and am ready to try again. 6. Should I just re-post? 70.44.147.248 appears to have no talk page; don't know how I can communicate. I don't want to get in an edit war, but am, as a newbie, really unsure what to do.
