March 22[edit]

Can you expand EnderCon MagicalPrince863 (talk) 00:29, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

MagicalPrince863, people here are likely not willing to spend time improving a draft article, especially when it is such time-heavy work as expansion.
In its current form, your draft will not be accepted because it has no sources. I doubt a town in Minecraft Story Mode will be accepted due to a lack of notability. You will need three reliable, in-depth, independent sources about EnderCon to demonstrate notability. Sungodtemple (talkcontribs) 01:12, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Questions about article/page creation[edit]

Reference to the subject matter. Your advice/assistance related to the following points will be highly appreciated. a) How can i create a new page/ article. b) Since I need to upload an article/information, will you provide help/assistance if i email the CV and related information about the person. Your prompt reply will be highly appreciated. Regards, DND 62.150.180.50 (talk) 07:09, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, IP editor. Wikipedia publishes neutrally written, well referenced encyclopedia articles, not CVs. There are plenty of places to post CVs online like LinkedIn but Wikipedia is not one of them. When you write that you "need to upload" something, experienced Wikipedia editors will respond "No, you don't" because we only accept content that is in full compliance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Read and re-read and study until you thoroughly understand Your first article, and follow every one of the recommendations that you find there. Cullen328 (talk) 09:01, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Error[edit]

Good morning. Why has "Thanjavur district" been written in the title of this page, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanjavur_district, while the first line of the text says "Thanjavur District"? JackkBrown (talk) 09:51, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@JackkBrown Careless editing would be my guess. The use of "district" or "District" is not consistent throughout that article. "district" seems to prevail, so feel free to be bold and change all similar "District"s to "district". There are links to other similar articles which may well suffer the same inconsistencies.
If another editor later challenges with evidence that the proper name is "Thanjavur District", then they can make the corrections accordingly. Bazza (talk) 10:04, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If 'District' is the official name for an administrative division, then the specific form "X District" or "the District of X" should have capital 'D' throughout, even in an article title. If using the term 'district' in a general sense, as a synonym of 'area' or 'neighborhood (for example)', no capital would be needed. If the MoS does not make such distinctions clear, it should. Strange formatting[edit]

Why the strange formatting? "Obelisk Monument|Obelisk in Srirangapatna}} is a memorial erected by the then government of Mysore in memory of the English soldiers died during the siege of Srirangapatna." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Srirangapatna#/editor/21. JackkBrown (talk) 11:17, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@JackkBrown Just an editor trying to pipe a link but using the wrong sort of bracket. I've fixed it. Mike Turnbull (talk) 12:01, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Vanished article[edit]

An entire article (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2022-23_RFU_Championship_Cup&redirect=no) has been removed without consultations. The removal isn't even clean as many links towards to removed page still exist. What has been cleaned though, is the page history. My questions is, how can this page be restored? Flierfy (talk) 11:41, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The article 2022–23 RFU Championship Cup has been changed to a redirect by Onel5969 with the edit summary "redirect until enough sourcing is provided to pass WP:VERIFY" (i.e. they say that the contents of the article were not currently verifiable from reliable sources). The text of the article is still there in the history of the redirect, but you should not restore it without discussing it with One15969.
Note that the URL you provided was to a different redirect, with a minus instead of an en-dash in the title, and that redirect hasn't got an article in its history. ColinFine (talk) 12:13, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Here, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahamaham_tank,_Kumbakonam, upper or lowercase? "Tank" or "tank"? JackkBrown (talk) 12:33, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Lower. Hoary (talk) 13:05, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning. Is it spelled "Kaveri River" or "Kaveri river"? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaveri; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kumbakonam. JackkBrown (talk) 13:19, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"River" following a specific name like that (or preceding it in British/Commonwealth English) is used as part of the name, and so is usually written with a capital. All the examples I have just looked at have that: see Red River for a load of examples. ColinFine (talk) 14:13, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

does this need admin attention[edit]

Someone on a talk page of a page I've edited has raised a valid question but also insulted the (living) subject of the biographical article. I'm not sure if this is okay or not. If okay, I'll respond on the page. If not, I could use some help in how to bring this to the attention of an admin. Thanks. Jessamyn (my talk page) 14:31, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The insult is I don't see how this is anything other than a narcissist using Wikipedia to promote himself and his website. I suspect it is factually incorrect (the article was started and most heavily edited by SupportHead, who has also edited a couple of unrelated articles).
Regardless of its truth, I do not think it warrants any admin action. I do not even think it would rise to the level of WP:NPA if it was directed at a specific editor. I would not mention it unless the behaviour is repeated.
In general, low-level offenses should be brought to the editor’s attention first. I usually prefer the user talk page (to avoid derailing discussions where the misbehaviour occurred, and because there’s no need to bring too much attention to it), though for an IPv6 user that does not work. If and when that doesn’t work, then you escalate to one of the appropriate noticeboards, the default being WP:ANI. Thanks very much. Yeah I wasn't sure what to do for an IP edit and narcissist didn't seem like a high-level insult but also hit me weird so I wanted to check. Appreciate the feedback. Jessamyn (my talk page) 17:02, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Jessamyn, I removed the cheap shot comment on the basis of WP:NOTAFORUM. Cullen328 (talk) 17:24, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Watch list question[edit]

Is there any way to look at my list of watched pages sorted by the most-recently added? I sometimes remember that I'd meant to check back and hadn't w-pinged to do so. Valereee (talk) 15:12, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Valereee: Hi there! I'm not aware of a way to do this. I see a similar question at Help talk:Watchlist#Viewing watchlist by addition order? from 2018 that was not answered. GoingBatty (talk) 19:00, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, @GoingBatty. Do you have any clue whether this might be something a script could be created for? I hate to make silly requests for scripts. :D Valereee (talk) 19:17, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Valereee: I don't know - I'm not a script writer. GoingBatty (talk) 21:16, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think the information is stored anywhere. Maybe a script could detect when you add a page to your watchlist and automaticaly make a corresponding edit to a tracking page in your userspace. It would be visible to others in your contributions and the page. I'm not sure it would work and I'm not trying to code it. It could also be controversial to "spam" your contributions with such tracking edits. PrimeHunter (talk) 04:52, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, both! It sounds like it's not a viable idea. Valereee (talk) 10:20, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Human history template expanding[edit]

Hi all, it seems sensible to fully expand {{Human history}} on the Human history article, given the large lead and TOC, but I'm not sure how to go about this. Can anyone assist? Aza24 (talk) 18:14, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Aza24: Hi there! I suggest posting your specific suggestions on the article talk page - Talk:Human history - so you can collaborate with other interested editors and come to the appropriate consensus. Hope this helps, and happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 18:55, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not everything needs consensus. I’m asking about a technical issue… Aza24 (talk) 20:18, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Aza24 welcome to Help Desk! I think you would find more knowledgeable people at WP:VPT. I tried reading the Wikicode and passing in expanded parameter, but it isn't working for me. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 23:34, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Firearms[edit]

Hi, I'm trying to add to a template and am having trouble getting the formatting correct. I want to add the stores section to this list, but I can't figure out the template, please help!

Template:Firearms Victor Grigas (talk) 18:14, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Victorgrigas: I think I fixed it. Is this what you're looking for? —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 18:27, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes! Thank you! Victor Grigas (talk) 18:29, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Gorilla anatomy[edit]

 – Added section header. GoingBatty (talk) 21:17, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Gorilla anatomy 2A02:B023:10:7BC8:8E39:CACF:CF53:3D99 (talk) 20:47, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What about it? You may be able to find information in Gorilla. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 21:20, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
...or Mammal#Anatomy. If you have about gorilla anatomy that aren't answered in these articles, you could try asking specific questions at WP:Reference desk. GoingBatty (talk) 21:22, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding lack of non-interview sources[edit]

information Note: split to own section, much like above section 💜  melecie  talk - 23:50, 22 March 2023 (UTC) [reply]

What do I do if I cannot find non-interview sources or independent sources for my subject. There is very little information about her on the internet that does not involve an interview. KingKapybara (talk) 23:48, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, KingKapybara. Unless you can find truly independent sources that devote significant coverage to this person, it is not possible to write an acceptable Wikipedia biography of her. Sources in Finnish would be fine. Cullen328 (talk) 23:55, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
 Courtesy link: Draft:Hanna Bergholm
perhaps it may just be too soon for them to have an article. I've had a brief look at potential sources Google points me to, and most of them do seem to be interviews. there however is an existing article for Hatching (film), which you may want to try and improve. happy editing! 💜  melecie  talk - 23:59, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
