The reference has an access date of 29 October 20023. You just need to fix the typo in the year. RudolfRed (talk) 00:46, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How to create a page[edit]

Picture 41.116.209.220 (talk) 03:08, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello IP editor. Have a look at Your First Article which explains how to create an article. Note that creating new articles is one of the hardest things a new editor can do- I would highly recommend you start by improving existing articles so you get used to our guidelines, policies, and manual of style. AfD for Timeline of Russian innovation requiring wider community attention[edit]

The issues discussed in the AfD appear to affect a lot of other articles of the form “Timeline of [demonym] innovation” or “List of inventions from [country]”, so I believe that it would benefit from wider attention from the community. To avoid any appearance of canvassing I don’t want to go into further details about the arguments involved, which can be found at the discussion page. Full disclosure: I am WP:INVOLVED and have !voted in the AfD. Fermiboson (talk) 12:47, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I would like a new person to review my article[edit]

The same reviewer kylieTastic keeps rejecting my article about an underground musician. I am attempting to record a bunch of second wave witch house artist who are largely ignored by the mainstream community but are beloved in the underground. This reviewer after being rejected multiple times and looking over their profile, I do not believe they are qualified to review an article they have no interest nor knowledge in. No where on their Page do they list a intrest in music. I have litterly added interviews with the artist and press coverage along.

I would really like a different person all together take over for this Kylie person. SonicundergroundRU (talk) 14:34, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Any other Wikipedia contributor is going to tell you much the same thing. Your draft does not cite the necessary secondary sources in order to demonstrate that the subject meets the relevant notability criteria: WP:MUSICBIO. Such sources are required, and if they don't exist because the subjects is being 'ignored by the mainstream', an article will not be permitted. AndyTheGrump (talk) 14:41, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
SonicundergroundRU You can ask for a different reviewer, but reviewers are not required to be experts in or even knowledgeable in the topic areas of drafts they review. This is because Wikipedia articles are typically written by lay people for lay people, summarizing what independent reliable sources with significant coverage choose on their own to say about a topic.
If a topic does not receive coverage in such sources, it does not merit a Wikipedia article. Interviews do not establish notability, as they are not independent sources. I realize it is disappointing to not be told what you want to hear about something you spent hours on, but have you considered that the reviewer might be more knowledgeable about what goes into a Wikipedia article? Instead of criticizing them, you should be asking them what you can do. 331dot (talk) 14:41, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In addition to what the other replies have said, I see that your user page says I am attempting to record as many underground unknown artist as I possibly can before I pass away. That may be a laudable aim, but it cannot be done on Wikipedia unless they have been extensively written about, and hence are not "unknown". I urge you to find somewhere eise to continue this task. See Alternative outlets. ColinFine (talk) 14:46, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
disappointing but you're probably more than right. Thank you. SonicundergroundRU (talk) 20:56, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This says "CULTCHILD's unique blend of genres and distinct artistic vision continue to captivate audiences, solidifying their presence in the electronic music scene." I'd call this promotional junk. 1.33.56.248 (talk) 19:05, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ok, I could use the edit. I'm a fan, and a fan of the other artist I will post about once I work out the kinks with this. Thank you, I'll try to write less fanboy lol SonicundergroundRU (talk) 20:52, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Page on Overton, Hampshire[edit]

I'm new to this and don't know how to edit and replace a small section of the above which is wrong. Under Governance the ward within Basingstoke and Deane borough council should be Whitchurch, Laverstoke and Overton NOT Overton, Laverstoke and Steventon. The borough's ward boundaries were re-drawn a few years ago by the Local Government Boundary Commission. Meyrickborn (talk) 17:08, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Meyrickborn: Hi there! The best place to discuss improving an article is its associated talk page, which in this case is Talk:Overton, Hampshire. In addition to posting your suggestion as you have above, I also suggest providing a reliable published source backing up your suggestion. Thanks! To know X (formerly Twitter) logo letter on it's Wikipedia page.[edit]

I want to know how someone added X logo letter on the Wikipedia page- X Corp.? How this type of stylized letter was written there? Sayeed2k (talk) 19:25, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's simply an SVG file here. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 19:45, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Martin of Sheffield is correct; but perhaps, Sayeed2k, your question is different ("How was the SVG file made?", "How was the SVG file uploaded?", "How is its upload permitted?", etc). If so, please ask. -- Hoary (talk) 21:53, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Sayeed2k: Martin of Sheffield is referring to the infobox at the top right of X Corp. If you mean "stylized as 𝕏 Corp." in the opening sentence then 𝕏 is one of around 150,000 Unicode characters. In the article it's bolded by being inside MediaWiki's normal markup '''𝕏''' to make bold. The character can be made in different ways, e.g. by copy-pasting it from somewhere else on the Internet. One way to look for copiable characters is to try to draw them at https://shapecatcher.com/. This one appears in a list of choices if I draw any X. When you know it's in X Corp. you can also just copy-paste it from there with your browser. This shows some conversions of the character: https://r12a.github.io/app-conversion/index.html?q=%F0%9D%95%8F. I haven't found the character in our edit menus but they only include a small fraction of all Unicode characters. PrimeHunter (talk) 22:19, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I was looking at the Twitter page having been redirected there from X. There's no "𝕏" there, but there is the logo, just as on X Corp. That's why it is a good idea to always include a courtesy link so that we are all singing from the same song sheet! Martin of Sheffield (talk) 23:30, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@PrimeHunter: Except, of course, it's not stylised as a Blackboard Bold symbol (with serifs). I think there's WP:OR confusion here between the logo design, and how the company's name is written. I've removed the unreferenced assertion from the article. Bazza (talk) 09:42, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Uploading Pictures to My Sandbox[edit]

  1. I am creating a new page on Imperial Swing Dancing in my sandbox.
  2. I made some simple dance floor drawings.
  3. I have tried to upload them both as a .png and a .jpg file, but all I get is error messages
  4. .Message: We could not determine whether this file is suitable for Wikimedia Commons. Please only upload photos that you took yourself with your camera, or see what else is acceptable. See the guide to make sure the file is acceptable and learn how to upload it on Wikimedia Commons.

I think you should see the guide to make sure the file is acceptable and learn how to upload it on Wikimedia Commons. Remsense 21:35, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Swing Dancer STL: You have tried to start several uploads from User:Swing Dancer STL/sandbox. Try to instead start from the "Upload file" link at commons:, or just click commons:Special:UploadWizard. 21:42, 30 October 2023 (UTC)PrimeHunter (talk)
Swing Dancer STL, please be aware that Wikipedia is not an instruction manual. Cullen328 (talk) 23:06, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Userpage biographical boxes[edit]

Where can I find the code for the biographical type info for editor user pages? Like "this user likes to have potato fights" "this user is a citizen of Sealand". Wikitehedia (talk) 23:01, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Wikitehedia. Please read Wikipedia:Userboxes and Wikipedia:Userboxes/Galleries. Cullen328 (talk) 23:10, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
