Ozzy Osbourne, Ronnie James Dio, Black Sabbath[edit]

Hi, I wanted to know the genre of Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Rainbow and Dio. Or better, I wanted to know if they're heavy metal or hard rock, because somebody tell metal somebody hard rock. Please answer!! --87.7.137.168 19:31, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well each of the pages you have linked has an info-box with a "Genre" line. Black Sabbath and Dio are listed only as Heavy Metal, while Ozzy and Rainbow are tagged with both Heavy Metal and Hard Rock. It can be quite difficult to determine exactly which characteristics fit any specific sub-genre of rock music, especially two that are so close in style. In fact, our article on Heavy Metal states - The terms "heavy metal" and "hard rock" are often used interchangeably, in particular when discussing bands from the 1970s, a period when the terms were largely synonymous. --LarryMac 20:04, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
