Lyrics for a futurama christmas song?[edit]

In one futurama episode called Xmas Story two classic christmas songs were made fun of (santa clause is coming to town and here comes santa clause). I would aprreciate the lyrics to the futurama song. Thank you for your time and concentration. (Wookiemaster 01:18, 12 October 2007 (UTC))[reply]

This web site has the lyrics. --Canley 02:56, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Name of Song.[edit]

Hello Wikipedians, Recently I heard a song on 101.1 FM (melbourne) the name of which I dont remember. Maybe it was from James Blunt, but am not sure of it. It went something like this :

My heart is xxxxx beating... xx xxxx xx xxx xxxxing...... aaa aaaaa aaa aaaa

In the last line "aaa aa.....", he used to stretch his voice a lot as if screaming in pain.

I know its a very vague description. It was a guy singing about his love for his lady or something similar to that.

If anyone could please help.

Regards, Nikhil. Illogical Programmer. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.95.233.84 (talk) 05:09, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds vaguely like Patience by Take That. I think (lyrics from memory here) Gary Barlow sings "my heart is numb has no feeling, ??(but? so? and?)?? while I'm still healing, please trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy... to have a little patience." --Dweller 12:39, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey that was awesome Dweller. Brilliant of you to find the name from the 'vague-est' of description. Thanks very much. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.96.157.160 (talk) 08:21, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Idenfifying a version of a song[edit]

This one is kind of obscure, but hopefully someone can help me out! In the 2007 Japanese film Baburu e go!! Taimu mashin wa doramu-shiki (Bubble Fiction: Boom or Bust), there are two versions of Frankie Valli's "Can't Take My Eyes Off You". Anyone have any idea who the artists are or where I can find a soundtrack listing (searching for English results hasn't turned up anything so far)? Thanks! --149.169.86.39 05:35, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

thanks[edit]

i had asked a question concerning a riddle on am famous and named after a dog.the actual answerwas canary island.thanks for all the responses especially the guy who said pluto.

anyway i wanted to know how marion jones was caught.if she took the steroids in 2000 and she is caught 7 years later.how? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.49.87.193 (talk) 06:21, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quite. And if you took the trouble to refer to our Marion Jones article, you will see that she admitted to it.--Shantavira|feed me 18:15, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What does Marion Jones have to do with this? Was this response posted to the wrong section? Dismas|(talk) 18:59, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
See the OP's second question. Corvus cornix 20:46, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I have at least heard of the Canary Islands, but always thought it had something to do with the bird. In any case, the wording of the question was flawed as you specificallly said that it was named after a dog, singular. Being named after the latin word for "dogs" is a invalid answer to the question posed. I hate it when people phrase riddles badly. I also still like the Indiana Jones answer best.--SeizureDog 01:40, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You people are an absolute disgrace to the Ref Desk, not even knowing of the Canary Islands, let alone knowing it was named after dogs. It's one of the most famous trivia/quiz questions of all time. On the credit side of the ledger, it seems it's only ever asked in pubs, because by the time it gets asked again, everyone's memory cells have been so marinated in alcohol that they forgot it had been asked before ... many, many, many times before. And of course we're all too busy with Wikipedia to ever go to a pub ... aren't we.  :) -- JackofOz 12:53, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

TNT's "encore season" of The Closer[edit]

I really like this show, which stars Kyra Sedgewick (who is one of Newsweek Magazine's "Eleven Powerful Women" ). The show is in it's third season, but currently, tnt.tv says the show is enjoying an "encore season". I don't know if that means the season is repeating , or what. I didn't want to start a talk page for the lexeme ENCORE , and I'm not really looking to you to learn what an "encore season" is... I'll learn soon enough... but perhaps the phrase is (or soon will be) in more than just TNT's lexicon. If so, perhaps Wikipedia should define it. Bill MontgomeryBilmon 06:25, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia doesn't do definitions, that's the job of Wiktionary. But the useage of "encore" that you're providing sounds like a euphemism for "rerun". Corvus cornix 17:49, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Like many cable networks, TNT seems to be showing its original series during the summer, when the traditional broadcast networks are primarily in reruns (or game shows), or at other non-conventional times (see also USA's Psych, Monk and Burn Notice). Season 3 of The Closer started on 18 June 2007, and there were 13 episodes, which by my reckoning should have meant the season finale showed in mid-September. They are now rerunning season 3 start to finish, which I suppose their marketing department has decided to call an "encore season." The website says that new episodes will start in December. As my learned colleague Corvus cornix says, Wikipedia does not define; if the term becomes widespread and notable, then perhaps an entry would be warranted. --LarryMac | Talk 19:36, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Song and Singer[edit]

I think the lyrics are: "I've seen love, I've seen life and I've seen beautiful............". A song from the late 60's early 70's I think. Anyone know what the song is or who is the singer please? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.106.178.212 (talk) 13:30, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Longshot - could be Fire and Rain, if you've misremembered the lyrics. "I've seen fire and I've seen rain. I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end" Exxolon 19:54, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the response, unfortunately not the song I was after. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.106.178.212 (talk) 09:38, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In the advert shown on BBC television for Russell Brand's BBC radio show, he's shown picking up a small stringed instrument (mandolin?) and strumming the intro to Losing my religion by REM (band). Could someone who knows something about how to play stringed instruments of this type let me know to what extent his hand/finger movements actually correspond to the music he's purported to be playing? Taralot. --Dweller 13:54, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I understand that in the other commercial with Chris Evans he is actually playing the piano. Perhaps Brand learnt that segment of the song for the advert too? ny156uk 21:03, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps. --Dweller 09:31, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone who hasn't seen the ad, there are video clips of it linked from this Google results page. --Dweller 09:31, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
