How long do Pokemon live?[edit]

Has this ever been officially stated anywhere? Thanks. --84.67.128.20 (talk) 02:43, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It depends on the Pokemon. Some Pokemon have lived for a very long time, like Lugia. bibliomaniac15 The annual review... 03:44, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It has never been officially said anywhere, but it is known that Pokémon die - see the Pokémon Tower in Lavender Town, and Mt. Pyre in Hoenn. This has some discussion on it. The general agreement appears to be that they die (except for legendaries, such as the above-referenced Lugia), and when they die depends on the species. Some very normal Pokémon (Pikachu, Treecko) have been implied to live for decades, so it is likely much higher than that of a similar animal.--71.33.226.115 (talk) 03:50, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I always thought that a Pokemon died when its Trainer did, but the monuments that 71.33 mentioned above kinda throw a wrench in that theory... Library Seraph (talk) 18:57, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

PCU[edit]

Hello. For a research project, I am looking for a list of Peak Concurrent Users (PCU) for online games. Even a general list with a rough estimate for the number of concurrent users would be be acceptable. I am not interested in any particular game, which I can often search for specifically, but in online games in general. Is anyone aware if such data is being tracked and if it is available? Thanks. 124.214.131.55 (talk) 05:00, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Song in Youtube video[edit]

What is the song in this this video around the 3:42 mark. I think I know it and it is familiar, some sort of rock or something. --Blue387 (talk) 06:38, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Game[edit]

Why aren't games with high ratings ever released on Nintendo consoles? 58.165.23.195 (talk) 06:45, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Do you mean age ratings as in sex and violence, or games which the video game project has rated as high importance? Someoneanother 07:46, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The former. 58.165.23.195 (talk) 09:42, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
In that case it's my understanding that Nintendo had some sort of family-friendly policy, they are still very family-focused (and have made inroads into the 'casual' market with their latest consoles), but there was something of a shift when they started chasing Capcom for exclusive Resident Evil games for the 'cube. That gradual shift has continued with the RE series (Umbrella Chronicles), House of the Dead and titles like MadWorld, they're probably trying to appeal to 'hardcore gamers' as much as the casual set, though whether that will ultimately be successful or not is another thing; despite the Wii's popularity it's still viewed as something of a toy in some circles. Someoneanother 10:12, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's also been quite a good strategy for Wii. It and the Nintendo DS, a handheld with similar low-tech, low-intensity, neophyte level games are far and away the best selling consoles of the current generation of gaming. Its sort of like the difference between being a fan of French New Wave film vs. the latest Hollywood blow-em-up film. Sure, everyone can recognize the artistic importance of the former, but Godard never got the same viewership as Independence Day. So the video game purists will lament the populist nature of the current Nintendo systems, and wonder why anyone wouldn't want to play Halo or the latest Resident Evil game on the XBOX 360, but you can't really argue with results. The PS3 and XBOX360 have really become niche consoles for the hardcore gamers, and the Wii has become the gaming system for the casual gamer; and there will ALWAYS be more of the latter than the former. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 17:31, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Woman sitting at dressing table mirror that looks like a skull - photographic illusion[edit]

In about the 90s I saw in the window a shop a photographic poster of a modern woman sitting at a dressing table with mirror, that from a distance looked like a skull. It was a photo, not a drawing but was otherwise similar to this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Allisvanity.jpg except that it was mostly white rather than dark. It may have been an album cover turned into a poster perhaps. Or perhaps it was unconnected with music. Does anyone know the name of this or if it is on the internet anywhere so that I can see it again? It was very clever. 78.149.213.187 (talk) 13:14, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Chords[edit]

Where would I be able to find the chords for 'Dress Sexy At My Funeral' by Smog?... They seem simple but I can't figure it out... Any help is greatly appreciated 193.153.65.179 (talk) 15:27, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you're willing to buy it it's in The Big Acoustic Guitar Chord Songbook Alt:Country (see here). Otherwise there's a YouTube video of a guy playing an acoustic version in which his left hand is visible so you can copy the chords - some useful comments from other viewers too. See www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FFWd9BQTxQ (not linked in case linkbot kills it). Karenjc 12:26, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie[edit]

Major league baseball manager who played while an active manager[edit]

Major league baseball is unique among professional sports, because the manager and coaches wear team uniforms. Sometimes a manager was also a player at the same time. Who did this? When? --DThomsen8 (talk) 15:47, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pete Rose is probably the most well known, but lots of them did - and of course we have an article! See player-manager. Adam Bishop (talk) 16:44, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Frank Robinson is another. Also the first Af-Am manager. 65.121.141.34 (talk) 20:11, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Once a Soap Opera Ends[edit]

Once a soap opera ends, doesn't an unrelated soap opera take its place? Ericthebrainiac (talk) 18:00, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Assuming soap operas do end, this will depend on whoever at the station decides what to put in its place. But they will base their decision on viewership and since the time slot is the same, they probably will put another soap opera there unless the old one was stopped because soap opera fans weren't watching it. Zain Ebrahim (talk) 18:45, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

When the Australian soap-opera Neighbours was taken from its weekdays 5.30(ish) slot on BBC One it wasn't replaced with a soap opera - it was replaced with The Weakest Link (at least that's what's there now). The show itself didn't end (I think it still shows on Channel 5) but the slot was replaced by non soap-opera tvl. ny156uk (talk) 14:53, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • When NBC took Passions off the air, they added another hour to the Today show rather than adding another soap opera. And it is very unlikely that CBS will replace Guiding Light with another soap opera when its cancellation takes effect in September. (There is some speculation that The Bold and the Beautiful might expand to an hour, but even that would still result in a net loss of half an hour of soap operas.) --Metropolitan90 (talk) 03:56, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
