Aquarium (not fish tank)[edit]

How many songs in all is Boris Grebenshchikov known to have recorded and released up to this time? 2601:646:9882:46E0:5D87:3F03:4559:38F8 (talk) 03:20, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You can check his page on Discogs and count them (every album, EP and single includes a track list if you click on its title). You can also check the page for the band Aquarium, as it's not clear if you're interested in just his solo recordings or also those with the band. His artist page also lists a number of other bands of which he's been a member, so these may or may not be relevant to you as well. Xuxl (talk) 12:43, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it's hard to avoid double-counting, because he often puts the same song on multiple albums (sometimes under several similar-sounding alternate names, too), and also often releases different songs with similar names -- but when I lost count for good, I was at over 620! So, anywhere between that number and 700 or so -- can anyone confirm? 2601:646:9882:46E0:CDE9:D100:3E10:7233 (talk) 23:14, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Soccer field in New Zealand[edit]

Where in New Zealand is located this soccer field?

A clue is given right at the start of the video: Aoraki / Mount Cook, or rather Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park. This article says its a temporary pitch, located in the Mackenzie Basin. --Wrongfilter (talk) 07:54, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
(After Edit conflict) I suspect we might be seeing some clever CGI work there, of the form used by Peter Jackson in the Lord of the Rings movies. But the scenery is real. It's looks to me like it's near the middle of the South Island, on the upper Canterbury Plains, with Aoraki (Mount Cook) , NZ's highest peak, as the centrepiece of the mountains. I have checked on Google Maps but I cant find anything. Is there gps coordinates? --2001:B07:6442:8903:48B2:40A0:E833:4A47 (talk) 13:21, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Read the article that I've linked, or any of the other (very similar) ones that can easily be found with google: The pitch was constructed over six weeks, and it will be dismantled not far in the future (maybe it already has been, that it isn't clear to me). While the google satellite data of the area have a time stamp of 2023, it is still unlikely that the pitch already existed when those data were taken. As for coordinates, I haven't found any, but then I only have the same google tools that you have. Incidentally, my first impulse was to suspect CGI as well, but it seems that the thing is/was indeed real. --Wrongfilter (talk) 13:29, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, there is a preview image for the video (other source) that shows a road close to the pitch. My guess is that this is State Highway 80 near Mount Cook Airport, around here, with this view from the road. --Wrongfilter (talk) 13:44, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ayr Bruins[edit]

A question I asked previously about the Ayr Bruins and Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2023_June_17#Category:Ayr_Raiders_(1946_—_1956)_players was described as unclear, and did not generate a meaningful response. Additionally, followup edits to the article on May 30 did not add a new source or background information.

The question I intended to ask was: What were the start and end dates of the original Ayr Raiders club that was disestablished c. 1955? –LaundryPizza03 (d) 13:33, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I think it unlikely that any Ref Desk responder will be able to find online references any better than, for example, this or this (probably not a Reliable source) that confirm the dates of 1939–1955 already in the article. Since the last successor club was dissolved in 1992, directly contacting a club official with access to archives seems unlikely. I suggest you send queries to relevant local newspapers (such as those used in the Ayr Bruins article as references, if still extant) and to the main public library in Ayr, which may have archives of issues covering the relevant dates that might well contain news stories about the club.
If none of these can help directly, you might try having the local papers print letters asking their readership for information – there are bound to be some older fans of the club amongst their readerships. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 90.197.177.243 (talk) 09:50, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
