November 1[edit]

Is Canada Day not as popular as it once was?[edit]

Is Canada Day not as popular as it once was? 2001:569:5267:E700:25A5:7A24:BEEB:C892 (talk) 02:29, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Viewed as celebrating the colonization of indigenous land, the notion that this is a joyous day has indeed been tainted. For more see Canada Day § Criticism and protest.  --Lambiam 03:38, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Which font is this[edit]

[1] <= Seen on TV (streaming), it looks very familiar and I thought it was something I had on my PC but it turns out I don't have it. The closest I could find was Modern No. 20, but that isn't it. 89.172.73.159 (talk) 15:02, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I tried MyFonts.com on the image on the word "Years" and nothing matched exactly. The "a" has the upper part of the loop straight from the left towards the upright. Many fonts curve slightly up or slightly down. The hole in the "a" looks like a diagonal teardrop. The "r" appears to have a circle on the end of a slightly widening branch. I only looked at those two features. -- SGBailey (talk)
I'm more interested in the number 2. It looks very familiar. I think it's a small alteration of some well-known much older font, just enough to make it copyrightable again, I think that's why it looks familiar to me. 89.172.73.159 (talk) 19:05, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The digit 2 resembles that of Clarendon MT Std Regular.  --Lambiam 20:53, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The Clarendon (typeface) "was released in 1845 by Thorowgood and Co. (or Thorowgood and Besley) of London", which helps explain its familiarity. :-) Modocc (talk) 21:12, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I think that's it, thanks! 89.172.73.159 (talk) 21:28, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Problem archiving a web page[edit]

Resolved

Global Engagement Center has a link to a government grant that I cannot archive correctly.[2] The original live link is here, but Internet Archive produces the wrong archive with what looks like the wrong article. How do I fix this? Viriditas (talk) 18:37, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

With Chrome or Firefox you can download the complete web page, which will preserve a copy for yourself.  --Lambiam 21:06, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if I wasn’t clear. I’m trying to archive the page for the Wikipedia article. Any reason why it doesn’t work? Viriditas (talk) 21:49, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It has to be related to how Internet Archive creates and stores archived versions of pages generated dynamically using Ajax. I was successful in creating an archived version on archive.today: https://archive.md/rvOee.  --Lambiam 09:25, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I will try to use that instead. Viriditas (talk) 18:19, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
