Montana State article highlights Wikipedia work[edit]

The student newspaper of Montana State, the Exponent, included an article last week on the work students in Professor Kristin Rupel's "Federal Indian Law and Policy" course are doing on Wikipedia as part of the Public Policy Initiative this term. The article quotes Mike Cline and Bonnie McCallum, Campus Ambassadors at Montana State University, as well as students who are writing articles for their coursework and Professor Ruppel. Berkeley conference explores digital citizenship[edit]

Pete Forsyth and Max Klein talk to interested people at the Wikipedia booth at the Good Internet Conference.

Students and Wikimedians helped launch the first Good Internet Conference at UC Berkeley on Saturday, April 23rd. The conference explored ways of building a healthy Internet that supports a better society. It was organized in part by Wikipedia Campus Ambassador Matt Senate, and will be replicated at various college campuses around the U.S. next year. Campus Team Coordinator Annie Lin and Campus Ambassador Max Klein staffed a Wikipedia table, talking to students about the Ambassador program. Pete Forsyth, a designer of the Public Policy Initiative, presented on Wikipedia's role in bridging the gaps between Internet culture and traditional learning institutions. See Pete's slide deck.

More students make Wikipedia's main page[edit]

Thirteen Public Policy Initiative students have already had an excerpt from their articles land on Wikipedia's main page on the "Did You Know" section, which highlights facts from new or recently expanded articles. Five more students' articles have been nominated for the Did You Know section and may appear soon. See the Trophy Case for links to these articles.
