"Wikipedia in the Classroom" workshop tomorrow

Wikimedia Foundation Campus Team Coordinator Annie Lin and Campus Ambassador Yonatan Moskowitz are leading an online workshop tomorrow on using Wikipedia in the classroom. Yonatan, a Campus Ambassador from Georgetown, and Annie will discuss the results from the first semester of the Public Policy Initiative. The webinar is free and begins at 1 p.m. ET. "Teaching Tool" brochure now available

The latest piece in the Bookshelf project, "Using Wikipedia as a Teaching Tool in Higher Education," is now available for professors to consult when creating a syllabus that incorporates Wikipedia assignments. The online brochure includes sections on what Wikipedia is, learning objectives and assignment types, basics of editing, grading rubrics, interacting with the community, and additional resources. New sandbox instructions handout

Students in the fall semester often used sandboxes on Wikipedia to start their articles. Sandboxes are personal spaces where students can craft the beginnings of an article, but once it's taken shape, it should be moved onto Wikipedia. A new handout gives instructions for when students should move their articles and how to do so. Download the handout today.

Instructions for "Did You Know" process available

Twenty students in the fall semester had their articles appear on the main page of Wikipedia by submitting a hook to their article to the Did You Know process. A new handout available to students now gives clear instructions on how to do so and what makes a good hook. For more information, download the handout.
