October roll call[edit]

Well, Wikipedia:WikiProject Square Enix is underway. Regardless of whether or not this project gets merged with it, we have lots of Final Fantasy games coming out this month in NA and PAL territories. Let's keep our articles up to date!

  6. Sir Crazyswordsman I may work on Final Fantasy IV a bit more. This needs to be on the front page on November 23 to support its fifteenth anniversary. This is, when I have time. Although I am injued a bit, so my physical activity is a bit hampered (after karaoke last night :)), so I'll find some time to edit.
  7. Ryu Kaze — I'm still around. Haven't done much of anything since Final Fantasy VII went FA, but I'm monitoring new edits and have been looking into the chances of getting some of our articles into the release versions of Wikipedia.   18. Tristam - Pretty busy at uni, but I'm making a few edits here and there. Still holding off my Square Co. massive revision till I have more time. EDIT: Hibana, I hope you don't mind if I use this space to drum up support for a new WikiProject I'm pushing to create, WikiProject Dragon Quest. I do not feel that the WikiProject Computer and video games provides an effective umbrella for the Dragon Quest articles; therefore, I'm going to try to create this. I encourage any and all of you to join; of course, I'll still be part of WikiProject Final Fantasy, but compared to the Final Fantasy articles (so many of which are FAs/GAs), the Dragon Quest articles are in a sorry state. :) --Tristam 01:26, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  12. Tristam - I tried my hand at the quirky Square's Tom Sawyer. More importantly, I've been completely rewriting the Final Fantasy IX article. So before you guys have a go at it, please let me finish my rewrite, because otherwise we'll have a lot of stuff clashing.   8. Crazyswordsman -- My job is keeping me pretty busy, but I should have some time to schmy around and see what needs to be done from time to time. In case you haven't seen it yet, you should check out Terminology of Final Fantasy VI and give me some ideas on how to improve it.
  9. Tristam Next week I may be doing some more editing, but not doing much right now after my massive overhaul of Chocobo Racing's page. Oh, Crazyswordsman, the FF6 Terminology page is lookin' hot, but I don't think all that bolding is necessary. Happy birthday, WikiProject Final Fantasy![edit]

It was actually yesterday of last year (the 5th) that Seancdaug started the project, but I noticed the first archived talk was on June 6, 2005. Anyway, great work everyone!   7. Crazyswordsman Lots of stuff happening in between exams. I am continuing the Final Fantasy VI referencing project (which will take a long time to do because I want to do each page one at a time), and I did some work on the List of Final Fantasy armor and accessories, List of Final Fantasy weapons, and Final Fantasy music pages. I hope to create an article similar to Mythology of Final Fantasy X and List of Final Fantasy VII terms for FFVI as well. Finally, I'm working to bring Chrono Trigger to GA and eventually FA.
  8. DarkEvil I finally found something to do for real. I'm uploading some covers for different games (not just FFs since I do not own legal copies of most of them), but most importantly, I am updating the Final Fantasy albums with Japanese track names and tables to differentiate Japanese original name from translated track name. I also might want to try and help Crazyswordsman on his project concerning the terminology of FFVI.--DarkEvil 00:06, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  9. Tristam I went ahead and jumped on FFXIII news to create the Agito and Versus pages. I've made a few minor edits to Final Fantasy pages and the Square Co., Ltd. page. Some of you had probably noticed that I made massive edits to the list of Enix games page - if you guys can help with this list, I'd appreciate it. It was in a sorry state and still kind of is, since it's so disorganized. I've also been working on compiling info. and images for older Square games to start articles for them. I don't want to seem like the odd man out - since this is a Final Fantasy project, not a Square, Enix, or Square-Enix project - but most of the Final Fantasy articles are very, very good while the older games for Square (or Enix) don't have articles period, so that kind of is my focus. I'm also interested in completely revamping the Square Co., Ltd. page to a good article status, but that probably won't be for a little while after I get a LOT more info. If we're going to submit character articles for peer review, I want to get some of these up to snuff. I'm also reworking the text a bit, no, a lot. Right now, I've just started, as this will take me a long time to do. Terra Branford has made some progress. I'd actually appreciate some help, particularly in upping the prose quality.[reply]

  12. --Tristam - Kind chilling right now. As far as Final Fantasy games go, I'm most interested in cleaning and adding onto the Final Fantasy Mystic Quest page. My main focus, however, is on the little things associated with Square (such as Ogopogo Examiner). I'm very intersted in editing the main Square Co., Ltd. page when I have time. Right now I think it's in a sad state. However, I'm having trouble compiling information - if anyone can give me the English > Japanese translation of "Denyuusha," I'd appreciate it. Around the second or third week of May, I'll have access to very old Square games, such as The Death Trap, Will, Cruise Chaser Blassty, Genesis, etc. and so will be able to considerably improve those articles that have been started and launch others. I also plan to launch the Aliens article sometime in the future. It'll just take a bit of work. If anyone's willing to help me, please contact me on my talk page. EDIT: Completely updated the List of Final Fantasy III locations page. I've also noticed the "new" montages for boxart - OK, better looking for sure, but I still can't bring myself to support montages of any type. I think the box art should be placed at the bottom like in the Final Fantasy II article. Thanks! --Tristam

March role call[edit]

The role call lets other project members know what areas currently interest you and what you're likely to be working on (your 'role' on the project). At the end of each month, those on the role call have their names transferred to the active Participants list on the project homepage. To sign your name, use ~~~

  1. Gamemaker - Not much time, not much presence.
  2. Ryu Kaze - Focusing on getting merges and other necessary page maintenance taken care of.
  3. Renmiri - Images and merges mostly on FFX and FFX2
  4. CuaHL - I'm still looking at the redesign of the project, SP Jobs, SP SPPR, looking at new ideas for announcements templates, looking at new ideas for navigation templates, will go through Index and assess articles for quality and put them on the To do page soon.
  5. Deckiller — helping out and offering advice when I can.

  7. Crazyswordsman - Done some work on the Bestiary (mostly minor additions and mistake revisions), and been working on an FFVI section for the FF Wiki (go check it out!). My main concern here is the List of Final Fantasy V locations article, which I hope to eventually add passages about each location, and maybe later get some pictures up. Also, the List of Final Fantasy V characters article is something I'd like to work on after. In addition, I'm a little concerned about the focus on FFX stuff here. There's ten other games in the series and lots of spinoffs. Why all the FFX focus?

Project navigation[edit]

I was thinking recently that I sometimes have difficulty getting from once place to another within the project, especially when I forget a page's name or format. It also sometimes seems that not everyone is aware of all the various sections, and the discussion within, that the project has to offer. To overcome both problems (prior to the possible establishment of a project portal as was kicked around a short time ago) I've knocked up a navigation template for the project using a simplified NavFrame. Redesign[edit]

So I've been working on a project redesign (with the recent aid of a few editors) and some of the pages will be implemented over the next week or so. Let me know what you think about the new look of the project and features. Not much has changed so don't worry, and all the main features are still there they will just hopefully be more accessible and easier to use. Oops! So, the Community pages got a little muddled doing the transition - some of you may have noticed the duplication of function regarding the old Community section on the main discussion page, and the new Community area. I'm currently moving the old content to its new home - this all has the nice side-effect of freeing up the main discussion page for primary issues, and allows people to once again use the Wiki convention of simply hitting the + button to begin a new topic. >Gamemaker 13:13, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Call me sentimental, and a bit of a fool sometimes to thinking we have a little community spirit in this Wikiproject, but what do you guys think of a calendar? (ala Esperanza). Finduilas 09 Cute! Better than that weird lightsaber crest, although the colors clash a little with the pastel of the project box.
I'm happy to hear my work wasn't all in vain. I'll have a look at the coloring, and perhaps also increase the brush stroke widths a little. They became rather thin after scaling the whole thing down. For the reference, this is what the user box would look like:
