Hi all,

Whilst probably not as notable as twin sister Amy, I do feel that there might be some notability here. Maybe some significant coverage of her while she captained the U23 team in their tour of England? I'm struggling to find much online but was wondering if someone with access to offline sources or more familiar with the subject might be able to find some coverage that is more than just her being name checked in match reports and the like? Christina Burkenroad

I don't know if someone is still watching this page, but I'm having a huge issue with Christina Burkenroad's article. Burkenroad is a Mexican-American soccer player, born and raised in the United States who plays for C.F. Monterrey (women) at Liga MX Femenil. This league only allows Mexican players on it and Burkenroad only can play in there because of her Mexican nationality. However, according to the consensus here on WP, a player nationality is determined by the place he/she was born or the national team he/she plays for. Burkenroad never played for any national team, so her nationality should be American. However, an editor insists in changing her nationality to Mexican. They change it in her article, in Monterrey's article and on 2020–21 Liga MX Femenil season's article (where she's one of the top scorers). I tried to argue with they at Christina Burkenroad article talk page with little success. They don't seem to understand how it works. I'm looking for help here (where people use to edit women's soccer articles) in order to try to resolve this issue. Regards.--SirEdimon ^Dimmi!!! 06:28, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

(ec) I don't have a problem with that either, although some editors get huffy over "ethnicity" in the lede. I have described a few women's soccer players as Irish American but sometimes it gets edited out and I don't feel strongly enough to argue about it. For what it's worth, in Burkenroad's case she implies here that she sees herself as American: "We have five Americans signed so we all go through similar emotions from being abroad." AFAIK, in cases where there's dispute or a few possible nationalities, we stick to the hard facts in the lede and the article. So in this case, would write in the lede "born in the United States", maybe with an addition of "with Mexican ancestry" (or explain the link to Mexico). In the club section where it describes her joining the Liga MX, I would explain the issue of only Mexican players playing in the league and the reason she is allowed (BTW ~~no foreigners at all? Not even a set visa amount?~~ I'm seeing now from the page that it is true, and even at the beginning only Mexican-born players were allowed. No foreign players are accepted because they want to use the league to help develop the Mexico women's national football team (which, nowadays, relies mostly on Mexican-American players). In the beginning they didn't even allowed Mexican-American players and, also, aplied some age rules. For me it would be no problem to call her "Mexican-American" or "American", but the biggest issue, to me, it's that the editor keep changing the flags at Monterrey and Liga MX Femenil articles. Burkenroad never played for Mexico, so the flag should be the American flag (where she was born).
