Anneliese Midgley is a British Labour Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament for Knowsley since 2024.

Early life

Midgeley was born in Stockbridge Village.[1] She attended Brookside Community School.[2]

Career

Her first job was at The Beatles Shop in Liverpool when she was thirteen.[3] She worked as a DJ in nightclubs before getting involved in politics.[4]

Midgley previously worked for Ken Livingstone when he was Mayor of London. She also worked on Jeremy Corbyn's 2015 leadership campaign and became his deputy chief of staff.[5] She then worked as the political director of Unite the union before becoming an adviser for Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner.[6]

In February 2024, she was selected to succeed long-serving MP George Howarth in the 2024 United Kingdom general election.[7]
