Anogi (अनोगी)[3] located at 27°19'56.2"N 80°39'44.9"E is a village in Machhrehta block of Misrikh tehsil in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, India. It belongs to the Lucknow Division. As per 2009 stats, Anogi village is also a gram panchayat. The village pin code is 261403 and postal head office is Aurangabad (Sitapur).

Geography

The total geographical area of the entire village is 435.52 hectares with a total population of 3,326 peoples. There are about 626 houses in the village. It is located 31 KM south from district head quarters Sitapur, 13 KM from block Machhrehta, 18km away from sub-district headquarter Misrikh (tehsildar office) and 70 KM from state capital Lucknow.

Kakori, Gangapur, Gopalpur, Ralamau and Sarosa are few of the nearby villages. Anogi is surrounded by Machhrehta Block towards North, Kasmanda Block towards East, Bharawan Block towards South and Misrikh Block towards west .

Sitapur, Sandila, Laharpur and Hardoi are the nearby Cities to Anogi village.[4]

Kiran Bala Singh is currently the village Sarpanch (प्रधान) and Gaurav Mishra is the Panchayat Secretary (पंचायत सचिव). Praveen Singh is the most prominent political figure of the village, he served as the Block Head (ब्लॉक प्रमुख) of Machrehta Block in the year 2011 to 2016 from Samajwadi Party. In March, 2024 he joined Bharatiya Janata Party and continues to work along with Ashok Rawat, the current Parliament Member from Misrikh for the development and betterment of society.

The total population of Anogi is 3,326 out of which 1,760 are males and 1,566 are females thus the Average Sex Ratio of Anogi is 890.

The population of Children aged 0-6 years in Anogi village is 493 which is 15% of the total population. There are 255 male children and 238 female children between the age 0-6 years. Thus as per the Census 2011 the Child Sex Ratio of Anogi is 933 which is greater than Average Sex Ratio (890) of Anogi village.

As per the Census 2011, the literacy rate of Anogi is 69.6%. Thus Anogi village has a higher literacy rate compared to 50.9% of Sitapur district. The male literacy rate is 83.65% and the female literacy rate is 53.77% in Anogi village.

Schedule Caste (SC) constitutes 47.2% while Schedule Tribe (ST) are 0% of total population in Anogi village.

Majority in Anogi are followers of Hinduism, with Muslims forming the second largest majority. The town also has significant populations of Christians and Sikhs.

Out of total population, 1,380 were engaged in work activities. 61.4% of workers describe their work as Main Work (Employment or Earning more than 6 Months) while 38.6% were involved in Marginal activity providing livelihood for less than 6 months. Chakratirth This places is holiest in the Naimisharanya. It is said that Lord Brahma’s Device chakra fell this pious land and created a round “Kund” which is named as Chakra Tirth
Lalita Devi Temple This is very famous temple among religious devants.
Panch Prayag This pond is situated near the Lalita Devi temple
Vyas Gaddi It is situated near Chakratirth where Rishi divided vedas in four parts and also created Purans.
Soot Gaddi Soot and Shaunak had discourse at this place
Sri Hanuman Garhi and Panch Pandav Here large statue of  Lord Hanuman is situated.When in Tretayug Ahi Ravana took Shri Ram Lakshman ji to another world (Paataal), then, Shri Hanuman ji slaughtered Ahi Ravana. While bringing Shri Ram Lakshman ji on his shoulders, Makardhvaj changed their path, due to which Shri Hanuman ji appeared apparently in Naimisharanya. Here the Path of Sunderkand holds uncanny grandeur.
Mishrit This is the another religious place situated 10 KM away from Namisharanya. Maharishi Dadhichi  Asharam and Sitakund are holy pilgrimage of this place.
Shyamnathan Temple This Shiv Temple was built 300-400 years before and is situated in old Sitapur City.
