Denisovka (Kazakh: Денисов, until 1997 — Ordzhonikidze Russian language: Орджоникидзе[2]) — is a village and the administrative centre of the Denisov District in the Kostanay Region in Kazakhstan. KATO code - 394030100[3]. It is located 166km south west of the regional capital city Kostanay[2].

History

In 1903, the Denisovka settlement was founded by migrant families from central Russia and Ukraine. The first settlers were the families Dubinin, Kilkinov, Kicelyov, Pashkov, and Kharyakov, who built the first dug-out houses and made the steppe habitable.

Population

In 1999 the population of the village was 6611 (3209 men and 3402 women)[4]. According to the 2009 census, there were 5196 people living in the village (2465 men and 2731 women)[4].

At the beginning of 2019 the population of the village was 4416 (2156 men and 2260 women).
