History

[edit]

The history of Fracane dates back to late 1800s during a period when International together with local authorities traders in intercontinental ranging from but not limited to France, Germany, the Baltic, Hungary, the Mediterranean, The Nederlands, London and the United States—established the London Corn Trade Association in the year 1878 as a way checking, controlling and to regulate documents needing for shipping and exporting for exporting nations to validate the necessity in those issues and disputes relating to the quality of imported grain.

The following year, FRACANE was founded in Rouen, France, by Henrico Goldstruck, a then-young Latvian immigrant who foresaw bountiful opportunities at France's largest ports. He, therefore, began to explore and observe the French grain shipments. However, he had his challenges due to needing more financing. However, with the assistance of Captain Maxwell Shafton, a German captain at one of the ports, Henrico was able to borrow money from his friend and further his inspection of the ships that leave and arrive in Rouen. During transit, losses are often recorded, which results in grain shortages. The service critically checked and verified the quantity and quality of the grain upon its arrival at the port. The business developed rapidly, and the two entrepreneurs went into business entirely by 1891; within a year, they had opened offices in Le Havre, Dunkirk, and Bassillie. In early 1915, during World War I, Fracane decided to change its headquarters from Paris, France, to Geneva, Switzerland. On July 21, 1921, the company adopted the legal name FRACANE INC, following its country of origin, France. Amid the 20th century, FRACANE commenced its official business of offering inspection, testing, and verification services across various sectors and industries, including industrial, chemical, oil, and gas. In 1982, the company went public.
