Freeborn Man is a country rock song written by Keith Allison and Mark Lindsay of Paul Revere and the Raiders. The song was first released by Allison, before being released on the Raiders 1969 album Alias Pink Puzz.[1][2] In 1969, the song was recorded by Jimmy Martin, and has since become a bluegrass standard.[3] It has since been recorded by Tony Rice, Glen Campbell, Outlaws, Greensky Bluegrass, and Billy Strings. Typically, the song begins with a spoken-word introduction interspersed with guitar licks, before the full band begins playing.
