Rotting Fruit is a punk band based in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The band formed October 10th, 2022 when frontman Matt Amaya (then also on guitar and/or bass) and drummer Andrew Pletz held practice for the first time. Exactly one month later on November 10th, guitarist David Reyes joins the band.

Rotting Fruit performed their first public gig at Vargtimmen King Koffee in Emmaus, Pennsylvania on April 28th, 2023. Although the show was small, only bringing about 15 people, one attendee of the show helped bring the band more attention. A member of another local band (Maddie Pearl Band) sees Rotting Fruit's potential at their first show and invites Rotting Fruit to open for them at Vargtimmen King Koffee on July 21st. Before the show in July, Rotting Fruit releases their 6 track, 13 minute long EP, I Hate This Place! The EP was first released on YouTube, and then eventually on streaming services. Forward to July 21st, the show happens and is a success, with a turnout of around 50 people.

At this point, the band has developed a form of a genuine fanbase. On September 10th, the band recruits two new members: Juan DeLeon on guitar, and Nathan Gammons on bass. From this point on, Matt takes on the role of being a frontman full time in the band. To finish off 2023, they performed their final show of the year along with 4 other bands on December 9th, 2023, which was an event called Reincarnate organized by Old Dog Tendencies.
