Tilt Five is a Fremont-based technology startup company founded in August 2017 by Jeri Ellsworth, Jamie Gennis, Amy Herndon, and Anthony Aquilio. Tilt Five's main product is a tabletop augmented reality system.[1]

Tilt Five was founded in August of 2017 after CastAR shut down, and the founders of Tilt Five were able to acquire technology from CastAR.[1]
Tilt Five announced their tabletop augmented reality system on Kickstarter in September of 2019[2], closing its campaign with $1,767,301 pledged.[3] Tilt Five originally estimated shipping Kickstarter units in June of 2020, however the development was delayed by the global Covid-19 pandemic, resulting in first Kickstarter units shipping in December 2021, with the last Kickstarter units shipping in January 2023 after which Tilt Five began shipping post-kickstarter consumer units.
In addition to the funding received from Kickstarter, Tilt Five closed a $7.5m series A funding round in October 2020.[4]
Products[edit]
Tilt Five's main product is a tabletop augmented reality system comprised of three primary parts: glasses, game board, and wand.[2] The wearable glasses house a pair of LCOS pico-projectors, optical components, and vision processing electronics. The game board is constructed from retroreflective sheeting with a folding cardboard backing and a pattern of circular fiducial markers for pose tracking by the glasses. The handheld wand is a motion controller housing IR LEDs that allow for pose tracking of the wand by the glasses.
