Whiskey Thief Distilling Co. (DSP-KY-20002) is a craft distillery located on a 127-acre working farm in Franklin County, Kentucky located at 283 Crab Orchard Road, Frankfort, KY 40601. Founded in 2012, the distillery produces bourbon, rye whiskey, gin, brandy and flavored moonshine. Products from the distillery are available for purchase on-site at their Pro Shop or their online store. Known for their experiences, bourbon is "thieved" straight from the barrel into the guests tasting glass.[1]

The distillery was founded by Ross Caldwell in 2012 originally as Benson Creek Distillery, then underwent a name change to Three Boys Farm Distillery, named after his triplet sons. At the time, it was the first and only Kentucky Distillery to offer every visitor a single-barrel thieving/tasting experience, at barrel strength.[2] In 2021, Walter Zausch purchased the distillery, which became a craft member of the Kentucky Distiller's Association. He also registered the location as a Harvest Host site, allowing RV travelers to stay on site.[3] In October 2022, the distillery was rebranded from Three Boys Farm Distillery to Whiskey Thief Distilling Co. [4] and added to the Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tour [5] as the 24th stop[6] and part of the Bluegrass Region.
Visitor Experiences[edit]
Visitors enjoy an informative and casual Bourbon experience, with a brief tour of the Stillhouse followed by a sampling from four barrels of uncut and unfiltered Bourbon and one barrel of uncut and unfiltered Rye Whiskey. As they go through their tasting experience, if the guest falls in love with a particular barrel, they have an opportunity to "thieve" their own bottle from their favorite to purchase and take home with them. There is a back patio behind the Stillhouse with a fire pit, corn hole boards, a cocktail bar and a food truck.[7]
