notability[edit]

Jackpet11, can you tell us which of the sources are the three best for showing WP:notability? Valereee (talk) 21:19, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please tell me these three things in more detail so that I can answer.
But these two cases apply to the recognition of WP:NARTIST :
  • The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by peers or successors
  • The person has created or played a major role in co-creating a significant or well-known work or collective body of work. In addition, such work must have been the primary subject of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews, or of an independent and notable work (for example, a book, film, or television series, but usually not a single episode of a television series)
In addition to these, he has been the organizer of competitions that have been seen among graphic designers all over the world, and this makes the subject visible.
Unless recognition should be between all people with any kind of expertise and unrelated to the topic.
This is impossible. Jackpet11 (talk) 02:55, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Jackpet11, sorry, I didn't see your earlier response. I've now subscribed to this section so should be notified when you respond.
You can find detail at WP:Notability and WP:NARTIST. We need three instances of significant coverage in multiple independent reliable secondary sources. For biographies of living persons, we want to see three such instances, and all three must fulfill all of the criteria: independent, reliable, secondary, and significant coverage.
Which three (and only three, please) sources fulfill all of these? Valereee (talk) 14:41, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello I think it covers the minimum. He has held important exhibitions in his career, which have attracted the attention of many designers.

  • The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by peers or successors; or
  • The person is known for originating a significant new concept, theory, or technique; or
  • The person's work (or works) has: (a) become a significant monument, (b) been a substantial part of a significant exhibition, (c) won significant critical attention, or (d) been represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums.

There are many articles in Wikipedia that have not even met the minimum but have been approved Please help me Jackpet11 (talk) 15:21, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Jackpet11, we need to see the sources proving those things. Without three sources like the ones I've described, this article will never qualify to be moved out of draft space.
FWIW, other articles aren't relevant to this. We evaluate each article on its own merits. There's info on this at WP:OTHERSTUFF. Valereee (talk) 15:27, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This means that in none of the 52 sources is there any mention of the person's remarkableness and the important things he did? Can you help a little?Jackpet11 (talk) 15:35, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Jackpet11, it doesn't mean none of them support it. It means that I don't personally want to spend hours of my own limited volunteer time go through 52 sources to see if there are three that qualify on a topic that isn't of particular interest to me. Especially if those hours of time spent might be hours of time completely wasted.
As you're the creator of the draft, you're highly likely to be the one single editor on the entire project who is most familiar with those sources, and it should be much easier, faster, and more efficient for you to pull out the three that best support notability.
I am helping. I'm spending my time trying to help you understand notability and how to prove it, and I'm offering to also spend my time reviewing the three best sources. Again, on a topic that isn't of particular interest to me. Valereee (talk) 16:00, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

So it should include all three? If it includes two items or one item, it is not approved?Jackpet11 (talk) 16:06, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Each source must include all four: independent, reliable, secondary, and significant coverage. If a source doesn't include all four, it can't be used to show notability, which is the minimum requirement for any article. Valereee (talk) 16:13, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
