Elizabeth Jarvis,[1] known as Liz Jarvis, is a British Liberal Democrat politician who has been Member of Parliament for Eastleigh since 2024.[2] She gained the seat from the Conservatives.[3] . Jarvis is also a borough councillor for the Hamble and Netley ward, which is part of the Hamble Valley constituency[4]. .

During the 2024 campaign, Jarvis was embroiled in a row with Conservative candidate Sam Joynson, who accused her of not attending hustings for fear of being filmed, and accused her of not supporting a petition to save Winchester's A&E for fear of appearing alongside Joynson[5].

Early life

[edit]

Jarvis was born to a social worker mother of Irish parentage and a military officer father from Hampshire, England. The first in her family to go to university, Jarvis graduated from the University of Essex in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in American literature.[6] She began her career in journalism as a travel blogger, where she was based in West London [7] [8].
