Does anyone read this page??[edit]

In contrast to normal practice, I am placing this section at the top of the page. We seem to have reached something of a crisis situation in regard not only to the portal itself but to all the new pages carrying the Denmark portal template.

There was a comment some months ago in connection with the missing "Selected Picture" and a suggestion an excellent picture could be included - but nothing was done. There was not even a response on the talk page.

Some of us are also getting upset when we see the same selected articles and biographies which come again and again.

Last but not least, the page would profit from a fundamental reivew on the basis of all the new content which has been drafted over the past three years and evolving interests on the Danish scene. Quid, for example, the climate conference, the new secretary general of NATO, the current economic crisis and the world's "happiest nation"?

I continue to add content in connection with Denmark but would appreciate hearing of volunteers willing to take over - or at least contribute to - the maintenance of the portal.

Any offers? - Ipigott (talk) 19:42, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As a footnote, I suggest anyone interested should take a look, for example, at the portals from Norway or Sweden.- Ipigott (talk) 20:07, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This all looks very interesting - congratulations to whoever is responsible for this page. especially like the mini-biography of Grudtvig. Bruce, aka Agendum | Talk 23:57, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New maintainer, anyone?[edit]

Hm, my interest in keeping the portal up and running kind of dropped somewhat after the first few weeks, though Twthmoses seems to have revived the thing (thanks). Would anyone be interested in officially taking over maintenance of the portal? (I might still be around to chip in a thing or two occasionally, though.) — Peter L <talk|contribs> 17:16, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll give it a try (hoping that time permits). Valentinian (talk) / (contribs) 14:25, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Cool, thank you — Peter L <talk|contribs> 14:30, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New article: Reindeer hunting in Greenland[edit]

I have finally gone public with my new article:

No maintainer[edit]

Since Valentinian has left Wikipedia I'm going to repeat last years selected articles. Any ideas on how to proceed from here? EconomicsGuy (talk) 09:02, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have left Wikipedia. I have repeated this weeks selected stuff so that the portal will still show selected articles etc. for another two weeks. EconomicsGuy (talk) 23:28, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Selected <something>[edit]

As it is also stated above, nobody is maintaining this portal. I just created (today is wednesday) two selections for this week (a selected biography about Absalon and a selected picture with a historic entrenchement) and also for the next week (Week 22: Selected biogaphy about Knud Rasmussen and selected picture showing Vædderen arriving in Copenhagen from it's Galathea 3 expedition). But i really think that somebody should get together and do this on a more stable basis. Otherwise i might be inclined to remove those two boxes from the portal-page :(
I haven't mentioned the selected article as that seems to work a little better, but that is also per above. KR Hebster (talk) 17:00, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm willing to update and maintain this when and if I find time. weburiedoursecretsinthegarden 21:09, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's nice. I'll try to do something similar, on a "if the next week isn't created and i have time i'll do it"-basis. That goes for all three, but i'm not that stable at all. --Hebster (talk) 14:46, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SP moval[edit]

In order to have conformity among Selected article and Selected picture and to allow for the use of {{Random portal component}} in SP i will start to move all pages to a new scheme:

Portal:Denmark/Selected picture/<year>/<week>

Thus would todays picture be located at Portal:Denmark/Selected picture/2024/17 instead of Portal:Denmark/Selected picture/Week 17, 2024 Unless somebody have some serious objections to this of course :) --Hebster (talk) 09:07, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A little "appendix" to the previous: I will put a {{db}} on the "old" pages, which would only redirect to the new one (i haven't found any which had any pages linking to them yet). At now, there is a total of 89 pages, that need to be moved, per User:Hebster/Sandbox/Portal:Denmark/SP. --Hebster (talk) 07:58, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have now begun the moving. I'll do it in chunks of eight, in order to avoid throtteling. An notice has been posted to the administrators: Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard#Moval of SP on Portal:Denmark. --Hebster (talk) 07:08, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SB moval[edit]

As with SP i will do the similar with Selected Biography. The arguments and procedure remain the same etc. Working page will be User:Hebster/Sandbox/Portal:Denmark/SB. --Hebster (talk) 08:18, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SA replacement[edit]

I have begun replacing bio's in SA with non-bio material, so we ensure that not two bio's are presented at the same time:

Feel free to chip in - thanks :) --Hebster (talk) 19:01, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hebster, you obviously spent quite some time on the portal last year but nothing seems to have happened for some time. Are you still able to take care of it? There are lots of opportunities for adding new content. See the other sections on the talk page.-Ipigott (talk) 15:29, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The short answer - unfortinately - is no. I'm currently more engaged in other Wiki-projects and had to cut some off. This was one of them. Feel free to pick up where i left or rebuild if you feel that is a more prudent approach :o) --Hebster (talk) 18:19, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article on Neils Ebbesen contains an interesting discrepancy under "Legacy": "In 1942, during the German occupation of Denmark in the Second World War, a play about Ebbesen's rebellion was written by the dramatist Kaj Munk (1898–1944). The Nazi occupiers banned the play and murdered its playwright." The play is described as written in 1942 yet Kaj Munk's lifespan is given as 1898-1944. Did the Nazis take two years to get around to banning the play and murdering Munk? If they were that opposed to it, that doesn't sound like them.SvensKenR (talk) 16:29, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nordic cinema task force[edit]

A Nordic cinema task force has been proposed at WP:FILMS, which would include the cinema of Denmark. Interested editors are encouraged to sign up - if there is enough interest, then the task force will be created! Many thanks, Girolamo Savonarola (talk) 18:24, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Missing Portal picture[edit]

Viborg Katedralskole is the oldest educational institution in Denmark. It dates back to ca. 1060. The current building from 1926 was designed by Hack Kampmann. The Danish movie Kærestesorger directed by Nils Malmros had the school as its primary location. Today, it is a gymnasium. Several notable persons have graduated from the school including the former prime minister of Denmark, the next Secretary General of NATO, Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

Hi, just passing by and noticed that there was no picture for today, the template for the picture is redlinked. Next, I wanted to nominate a picture, but it seems unclear for me how that works. Should I just be bold and add one, or how does it work? The image I was thinking about is this, which was recently promoted as a Valued image on Commons.

Personally, I am biased as I am the creator of the image. Therefore i would rather prefer if someone uninvolved would review the nomination. --Slaunger (talk) 12:25, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This seems to have been a problem for some time. I have also noticed other lapses in maintenance of the portal. I was bolder than you. I just added a picture myself today. I suggest you do the same in a few days. - Ipigott (talk) 20:57, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Restructuring[edit]

The portal hadn't been updated for a while (the "selected pictures" template wasn't being kept up to date with photos), so I'm moving things about and editing boxes. If anyone wants to change anything go ahead. I'm making a lot of edits. Peter (talk) 15:06, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Helps translation required[edit]

Hej. Supposed Error[edit]

Technically, Denmark Does Border Canada on hans island, because Greenland is technically part of denmark. Should we change some lines that say that Denmark only has a land border with germany? Bendymotions (talk) 19:12, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Where does it say that Denmark only has a land border with Germany? Denmark proper shares a land border with Germany, the Kingdom of Denmark shares a land border with Canada on Hans Island. Sam Sailor 21:08, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
