Frederick Charles Caballes Davao, professionally known as Ricky Davao (born May 30, 1961), is a Filipino actor, television director[3] and industrial management engineer (graduated from Mapua Institute of Technology).[4] He is the ex-husband of actress Jackie Lou Blanco.[5] He is the younger brother of Bing Davao[6] and the son of Charlie Davao.[7]
He started in show business as a dancer, long before he began acting, as a member of the Vicor Crowd. He considers dancing as his first love.[8] In theatre, he is best known for portraying a fictionalized version of Bongbong Marcos in the play Bongbong at Kris in the 1980s.[9] He is also known as Eduard Rodrigo he is also a villain in Mula sa Puso
He served as a juror in the first ASEAN International Film Festival Awards in 2013,[10] and he performed in the Pinoy Playlist Music Festival 2019.[11]
Personal life
[edit]The relationship between Davao and his wife, Jackie Lou Blanco, started to blossom when Blanco stood in for Snooky Serna in the erstwhile GMA Supershow. Davao was supposed to sing to Snooky but because the latter failed to appear, Blanco was pulled in to replace her.[5] They got married in 1989 and had three children, Kenneth, Rikki Mae, and Arabella. They have since separated but remain cordial to each other. In 2021, they reunited on-screen via drama anthology, I Can See You: AlterNate, where they acted as husband and wife.[12]
Politics
[edit]Davao ran for councilor in the 4th district of Quezon City in the 2010 elections under the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC).[13] Ricky withdrew later on due to conflict of interest. A COMELEC rule prohibits actor-candidates from appearing in movies and TV shows during the campaign period. Davao was part of the cast of Working Girls, a movie which was set to open on April 21, 2010, which was within the campaign period.[14]
