Shahr-e Kohneh (Persian: شهر كهنه, also Romanized as Khabūshān and Shahr Kohneh)[3] is a city in, and the capital of, Quchan Atiq District of Quchan County, Razavi Khorasan province, Iran.[4] It was the capital of Quchan Atiq Rural District[5] until its capital was transferred to the village of Asgarabad.[4]

At the 2006 census, its population was 3,683 in 930 households, when it was a village in Quchan Atiq Rural District of the Central District.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 3,486 people in 980 households.[7] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 3,320 people in 1,062 households. It was the most populous village of its rural district.[2]

In 2019, Dughayi Rural District and Quchan Atiq Rural District were separated from the district in the establishment of Abkuh District[8] and Quchan Atiq District,[4] respectively, each of which was divided into two rural districts. The village of Shahr-e Kohneh was elevated to the status of a city.[9]
