Wally Whelan position

[edit]

In "The Official 50-race history of the Australian Grand Prix", Wally Whelan is listed as having finished 9th, with Jack Edwards 8th. However, in John B Blanden's book, they are both listed as being =8th. Since it looks like times were only recorded to the nearest 30 seconds, is there any source which clarifies this? If no more accurate timing was done that would be unlikely since the cars were separated by 3 minutes at the start, so they couldn't have just relied on seeing the order the cars finished. It's worth noting that Edwards is listed above Whelan in the finishing order in Blanden's book, but this is probably just alphabetical. Could this have been misinterpreted by the authors of the 50-race history book? A7V2 (talk) 00:57, 28 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
