  • "Wales from 22 to 27 August 2006." - a comma is needed between "Wales" and "from"
  • "The event was won by the Filipino team of Efren Reyes and Francisco Bustamante who defeated the American team of Earl Strickland and Rodney Morris 13–5 in the final." - repetition of "team"
  • "The event saw multiple world pool champions in the field, as well as Snooker world champions in Steve Davis and Ronnie O'Sullivan." - snooker does not need to begin with a capital letter
  • "three-times the national average wage." - the country's national

Format[edit]

  • "The 2006 World Cup of Pool was a pairs nine-ball tournament played at Newport Centre in Newport, Wales.[1]" - don't think the citation is needed at the end of this sentence since it is bunched up at the end of the following sentence

  • "The event was played with alternating breaks system," - with the alternating
  • "as opposed to winner breaks traditional in other nine-ball events." - as to the traditional winner breaks as seen in other nine-ball competitions.
  • "The event was the first ever World Cup of Pool event," - competition for variety and inaugural
  • "The event was filmed and broadcast by Matchroom Sport across 31 single hour programs on Sky TV." - The WCP source doesn't say it was broadcast on Sky TV. You'll have to use another source to combine the two

Prize fund[edit]

  • "Prize money for the event featured $250,000 with $60,000 being awarded to the winning team." - A total of $250,000 was made available for the prize pool, with $60,000 being awarded to the winning team.

  • Consider adding information about which teams were seeded for the tournament in this section

Early rounds (first–second round)[edit]

  • "The first seed Filipino team of Efren Reyes and Francisco Bustamante won their match over Malta 9–0." - The particular AZBilliards source does not mention the Phillipnes were the first seeds
  • "Six-time World Snooker Championship winner Steve Davis partnered Daryl Peach for the first time in the event," - no mention of Davis being the six-time world snooker champion in AZBilliards despite it being factually correct
  • "Raj Hundal and snooker player Ronnie O'Sullivan trailed 0–4 after just 20 minutes," - similarly no mention of O'Sullivan being a snooker player in AZBilliards despite it being factually correct
  • "The Spanish side however won the next two frames to win the match." - took
  • "so him and Canadian partner Tyler Edey shared a cue," - he
  • "With just the final two balls remaining Lee Chenman made a difficult 8-ball to allow the Hong Kong team to win 9–8." - a comma is missing between "remaining" and "Lee"
  • "The Dutch team of Niels Feijen and Nick van den Berg defeated the Scottish team 9–5."- repetition of "team"
  • "The final remaining United Kingdom team, the England B side were eliminated by the USA team of Earl Strickland and Rodney Morris." - The remaining United Kingdom side
  • "The final remaining United Kingdom team, the England B side were eliminated by the USA team of Earl Strickland and Rodney Morris. The teams were tied at 3–3 but the USA team won six straight racks to win 9–3." - needs to be cited to the correct source
  • "Hong Kong finished their second 9–8 win," - completed
  • "The Canadian side (still playing with a single cue) trailed 4–7," - no mention of the Canadian team still playing with one cue in the AZBilliards source
  • "The Filipino team defeated Malaysia 9–5," - uncited by the current AZBilliards source. Another source is needed for this particular sentence
  • Also the above sentence looks like it should end with a full stop

Later rounds (quarter-finals–final)[edit]

  • "The Italians lead the match 8–7," - led
  • "The Philippine team (and top seeds) made up of two former WPA World Nine-ball Championship winners defeated the Czech Republic 9–6." - no mention of the two Filipinos being WPA Nine-ball championship winners in AZBilliards
  • "With pre-tournament odds of 150/1, The Hong Kong" - the word in bold shouldn't begin with a capital letter
  • "The Hong Kong team were defeated 3–9 against the American team." - repetition of "team"
  • "The unseeded Vietnam team had already defeated three seeded teams to reach the semi-finals," - beaten three seeded teams to get to
  • "They then came from behind to tie the match at 3-3," - en dash please per MOS:DASH
  • "Nguyen missed a shot with the cue behind his back on the 5-ball allowing the USA team to win the rack and win 9–7." - repetition of "win"
  • There is nothing on the Phillipines v Germany match other than it was the first semi-final
  • "The final was contested on 27 August 2006 as a race-to-13 racks," - on the evening of the same day
  • "The final had a crowd of 900 people," - was attended by a crowd
  • "the majority of which were expats supporting the Philippines." - more formal; expatriates
  • "Bustamante said that the event win was due to his partner's play saying," - repetition of "said/saying"

  • I believe Reference 5 can also be used in this section to verify both the format and the seeds

  • Also Sport, Matchroom and Release, Press are not authors and should be removed
  • Should the "z" in "AzBilliards" be captialised?
  • Reference 4 is a duplicate of Reference 2
  • Reference 5 is missing details such as the access date and the original url link
  • Reference 13 is missing the publication date
  • The original url link must be included for Reference 18
  • Reference 20 is missing the work and the original url link and access date
  • Reference 21 is missing the correct archive date and the correct archive url as well as the date it was accessed
  • Also Reference 23 is a duplicate of Reference 24
  • Reference 24 is missing the page number and the title of the article
  • The hyphen in Reference 25's title will need to be replaced by an en dash per MOS:DASH
  • The archive link for the same reference will need to be changed since it shows just a blank page
  • The hyphen in the title of Reference 27 should be replaced by an en dash
  • Reference 28 is a Blogger page, and therefore, unreliable per WP:RSPSOURCES

  • @Lee Vilenski: Can still see the lack of information on the semi-final match between the Phillipines and Germany and the inappropriate use of Sport, Matchroom and Release, Press being written into the last= and first= fields of several references.   • So, every other article about the first semifinal is now dead (with no archive). Not really sure what I can do. I've added the score to the section (and fixed the ref issues), but without a suitable ref, I can't expand the first semi-final.

  • @Lee Vilenski: Now promoting to GA class. I've added some missing details to some of the references and had to remove one that had a archive url that was linked to something else although the IPM source did verify all the information in the first-semi-final match.
