@S.A. Julio: Per the first two points in MOS:DATERET, we should be using the U.S. date format (Month Day, Year) in all instances. The article's prose evolved using it, giving it substance beyond a couple of tables; there are also extremely strong national ties, with the U.S. team contesting the final, the U.S. hosting the match, and there being no competing English-speaking country with other claims (as Mexico can go either way depending on the translation). For that matter, all CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament pages should also use Month Day, Year, as they have almost exclusively been hosted in the U.S. by a U.S.-based organization with the U.S. team participating. There isn't any reason to keep using a date format that inconveniences the vast majority of readers (who would be North Americans). SounderBruce 03:25, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The vast, vast majority of media coverage about the Gold Cup uses MDY. CONCACAF themselves use MDY. The public of the English-speaking countries involved in hosting and playing in the tournament overwhelmingly use MDY. There are strong international ties to this date format, therefore the Gold Cup should use it. Why are you trying to impose a foreign date format on a North American tournament entry? According to MOS:RETAIN, this article should use the variety of English that was present in the first version of this article, which was DMY. Of the five English-speaking countries in CONCACAF, only the U.S. officially uses MDY. – bradv🍁 06:14, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
On the contrary, there are strong national ties in this topic, as the match was played in the United States, by the United States, and organized by a U.S.-based organization (CONCACAF), who officially use MDY in their materials (including citations in this very entry). Besides that, the count must include all CONCACAF members (which are not analogous with countries), including those who participated in qualification rounds.
