Notability concerns[edit]

I suspect the importance rating for WP:ALASKA should also be revisited, though I've had little time for such activity as of late. This article is, and has been since its inception, a dumping ground for WP:ROUTINE sources because those sources were easy to obtain at the time they were added. It tells me little to nothing about what actually happened during this particular race. By virtue of the article's mere existence, it misleads the uninitiated into believing that there was something special about this particular race, while at the same time we're implying there was nothing special about truly historic races such as 1978 and 1985 because those articles don't exist. It pushes the encyclopedia further in the direction of being a current events or news site instead of "the sum of all human knowledge". In other words, why was this article even created? It serves no purpose other than to collect linkspam, which some people appear to believe is an appropriate function of Wikipedia. The short answer is nothing is being implied, go create the redlink article if you want, I'll accept "its a low quality article" as criticsim, and wont deny that fact as I am a poor writer, no, and, to further the sum of all human knowledge. I can write a more thorough opinion when I have the time to parse everything, but an AFD may be a more fitting venue for this.Thanks,L3X1 ◊distænt write◊ 19:29, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
